Title: Fridaynightparty at DfH; auction for charity
Post by: LangTall on June 06, 2007, 09:40:25 am
Guys and gals,

Several raceteams have provided us with some collectibles to be auctioned for the British cancerfund. Those items vary a lot off course, but included are some VIP entrance passes for a LMS race ;)

As you can imagine, we prefer cash on delivery that night.

If you have any questions regarding this, don't hesitate to aks.

Regards

LT

The auction will be held during the fridaynight DfH party, planning is to do it around 10 pm, hoping most of you won't be too drunk then. ;D

If you wan't to donate one of your kidneys we will be happy to auction it Bob! Everything for the good cause!

LangTall - it would be a shame to limit the bids becuse folk run out of cash (or because folk like me thrive on plastic). How about having a laptop set up with either a wi-fi connection, or else a GSM link onto the web, connected to the charity online donation web page? Under DfH supervision folks could directly pay for their winnings using plastic.

Idea isn't that bad, but as we have no one with a wifi or UMTS connection (GSM is very costly and also very slow) I see a problem there. Or someone should offer one?

I know this has been covered somewhere else in another thread, but our team would like to sponsor a keg of beer would that be possible?

Cheers

Neal

That is always possible Neal, as far as I know I already noted that down. ;)

I've e-mailed Jenifer Hart of the Flying Lizards and she's going to come up with something nice for the auction. :)  I don't know quite what yet - will keep you posted.

Would guess that anyone can bring anything to be sold at the auction.  I'm on the hunt at the moment for some thing I could offer for sale.

As we can't think of anything that is likely to be of the slightest interest to any discerning member of CA for the auction, are we too late to sponsor a keg of beer?

I have a pair of Lady Pig-Pen's knickers that can be added to the list. Not exactly a race team item but still very racy. size 6 and clean. Remember the nasty little ozzie redhead that was with The Brethren last year? They will come with a signed photo and certificate of authenticity.

well I did't say that (but your avatar has been helpful in reminding me of an appoinment I have in the morning ;D)

Moving on - might I say that I knew the auction would degenerate - and now I've been proven correct - knickers - I mean....??!

Next it'll be snogs and spanks etc etc - need I go on.

Now I might pay a lot of money for a peck on the cheek from say Johhny Herbert but not Joe Bloggs!

Found out why the Flying Baguettes can't play, they seem to have a good side line.

Make mine a big BTL Baguette!  ;D

Maybe they should use their loaf and sandwich the gig between opening times. Or they could  use some of their bread to employ someone filling in for them. That way more people would earn a crust. What a bloomer ;D
