Title: Member's Modes of Transport.
Post by: Leftie on May 28, 2007, 12:33:48 am
Hi folks,

Due to NorwayNick's thread being somewhat hijacked, I thought it might be an idea for members to post pictures of the vehicle(s) or mode of transport they intend to use for the journey to LM this year. I would suggest that it would be limited to road based vehicles as I doubt anyone would arrive in a Sopwith or on the Fying Scotsman but we know 'Jumbos & A320's will be used and hopefully the new tramlink.

We already know BigH will be arriving on a custom made human powered wotsit. BTW H, hows the training?

So to start, this is my motor for this and hopefully many years to come.

I know Dave_Newcastle is bringing his classic Lotus, I dare say lynxd will be with one of his Jags (IFJ).

This will also be a good way of recognising each other when out 'n' about etc.

Del,

Untill I ead that you 'borrowed it, I thought the trailer was for collecting the bits!

I presume that it was a kit as opposed to 'original'. But it just goes to show - it takes a 1000 nuts to something like that together and only one NUT to spread it everywhere!

If you look at the rest of the pics (especially the interior), you'll see it was a Ford GT, not a GT40 or replica.

I'll be taking my 964 RS this year.

We're down on numbers this year but Team Gulp Racing will also feature a Morgan Plus 8, Renault Sport Clio172, a couple of motorbikes and a motorhome.

I usually SIT in the car Del, I don't stand in it. This baby is extra high, so I fit in perfectly. On the changes; don't expect something as excessive as last years Golf (may the cargods let it burn in hell), but some 'application' will be done.

Deano, are you really sure about that?

So we know there are at 3 Frogeyes arriving - hopefully.

It doesn't look that bad though, major things are obviously bonnet and hood - I'd get rid of the white clothy stuff though 'cos it aint waterproof. On the other hand, it different!!!!!!!

I was thinking more like furry dice hanging from the rear-view mirror

That idea is now scotched given that the new parking permits are ferry-style RVM-hangers, rather than the stick-on jobs from years gone by. The number of people I know who leave their Le Mans sticker on for months & months after as a badge of honour... what will they do now?

Why not do a subtle air intake, like this........

We are going by veeeee-dubya! Portsmouth -St.Malo wednesday nite, via that pub at the ferry terminal (rudmore cellars?). If you see us give a cheer....or stop and help fix it! Managed to isolate the problems down to everything electrical and mechanical! New bumpers though, so should look good on the relay truck!
Hopefully get to meet a few peeps this year. The trouble in previous years has been sitting down. We have never been able to stand up again without first quaffing flagons of 'premium' lager. Then we can't stand very well so have to sit back down - a sort of vicious circle! We'll be on BSJ so stop and say hello. Unless there's Elvis playing and empty beer tins all around - might be best to walk on, you'll get no sense out of us!                                                                                                                           (http://i209.photobucket.com/albums/bb292/huggybear_013/Bus1.jpg)

FORSALE? - does it have camper kit inside?

>Martini

'Tis indeed a home from home - sink, cooker, 'kin big leisure battery, wired for ac as well (shame I was too tight to buy a decent generator!), 4 berth - double rock 'n roll downstairs, double on the first floor! Almost feels like cheating! Luckily its really slow, adding an authentic endurance feel to any journey!

For sale? My wife and little boy say absolutely not! Best ebay buy to date - much better than the 'mega-watt silent suitcase generator' that barely lights a bulb and is quite the noisiest means of making wiggly amps ever! And the spare Jensen engine that is now sat in the garage cos I sold the car...........and the 'bargain' wetsuit that actually makes you colder (and is bright purple).......the list goes on.......'premium' lager and ebay just don't mix! Ooooops, might be wandering of thread here!!

MOT today so I'm all set :-)

Top job - looks now like its never been apart.  I for one can imagine the effort and heartache, grief and strife, commitment and determination that it must have taken you over the last month to get your car together.  Hope to see you there

Bring your sleeping bag - there's bound to be room in our (or another CA'ers) gazebo for the appropriate beer contribution .....

Would love to ride my bike, but can't pull the cooling trailer with it, so once again a hired VW-Bus :(

I'd like to know more about that car.

It reminds me (at the front) of a old kit car - an Ashley - from the 60's

But it can't be, - curious  :-\

I will post  a few more pics of the ............?  later today. If anyone can come up with the definitive answer of what it is. I will make a donation to the charity of the winners choice as most CA ers are or will be in Le Mans I will let this run until the end of the month.

As a clue, to the best of my Knowledge this is the only one of its type on the planet.
