Title: I'm not a Techie, Help please.
Post by: Leftie on May 20, 2007, 12:21:40 am
Hi folks,

I've asked before, and the answers recieved have failed in my quest.

So I decided to approach the question in a different manner.

Q.1 Does the CA 'site require photos ect to be posted on another website for inclusion in signatures and general postings?

I've tried by starting a blog on 'My Space' and it doesn't work when including the location in the 'Profile' section.

Q.2 Is there a way of 'cutting & pasting' to include a pic within the text block?

I realise that server space is limited. But seeing the threads of dubious related photos and those in the girls/motors/racing. I've tried and burned.

Q.3 If the above can be answered, what is the prefered format of any pic?

I hope you can understand all the above. So folks, I'm asking for a guiding hand.

Jerry

Avatars ie your signature have to be stored somewhere else. Photobucket or places like that. Or Alternatively your own site.

Myspace is a registration site. Other members will not be able to view it unless they are logged in, which includes yourself ofcourse.

As for General Postings try to post the location of the image as opposed to adding it as an attachment. (to Add as an attachment click on additional options when replying.) To find the location of images in Firefox's Internet Browser, right click and select copy image location. then paste this into the reply. to make it show on the page highlight the whole line you copied and select the little picture frame in the bottom left row of the icons.

Q.3 If the above can be answered, what is the prefered format of any pic?

Don't go bigger then 1024x768, I try to keep images at 800x600. Saving as a JPEG is best. Try to avoid Bitmaps as these are much larger in size.

Hope this helps

Rick,

Many thanks for clearing a few things.

Does that mean everything should be web based?

What is and how do get an 'avatar'?

If so, can you suggest the most common (CAer's) web system etc. Such as your own for instance.

Kind regards

Jerry

Yes, everything must have a uri.

The Avatar is the pic on the left under the Nickname.   Like my man mowing the Bikini Line.
To set an Avatar click Profile then "Forum Profile Information"  You will find a number of "default" avatars you can use.

Most ISPs give you some webspace.  You can put your pics there.  You can upload pics tothe CA server I belive BUT I personally would not use that as it places more load on the server.
