Title: "club-arnage" domain name
Post by: Grand_Fromage on May 01, 2007, 12:25:37 pm
The time has come to renew "club-arnage.com" the hyphenated version of our domain. Is there anyone out there who still prefers a hyphen? I think all of us use the de-hyphenated "clubarnage.com".

If nobody uses it I'll park the domain and save the CA coffers £30 a year.

I never knew the hyphenated version existed

No skin off my nose.  I've never used it either.

No problems here either.

T-shirts have always displayed URL without the hyphen.

Seems like I use the hyphen, but when I get to the forums the hyphen is gone again anyway!

Makes no difference to me tho I can always change whatever I need to change - presumably my bookmark....  :)

On behalf of all hyphens I would like to protest against this blatent anti-Hyphenism. It will be only a matter of time before they go the way of the late departed semi-colons!

Then again, I'd never noticed their existence here either.

Please dont get them all started on their colons!!

Well said Mr Frogeye, this is just bloody typical.
It's-the-thin-edge-of-the-wedge-if-you-ask-me, we-lose-the-hyphen-one-day, and-the-next-day-we'll-be-selling-Jaguar-to-the-yanks-and-getting-rid-of-the-routemasters, mark-my-words.
Save-the-Hyphen!!!!!

I reckon BigH has a tracking device onto CA that notifies him every time anything vaguely "bottom" related is posted!!

Well, it's a subject close to my heart at the moment, closer than it should be.
Anyway, bottom status today is "Good But Numb", outlook is "Fair". Better than it has any right to be really...

Who do you register through Dave?? I use 1 and 1 and they are only £8.99 + vat to register a .com domian name and you can then divert it (without any banner ads etc) to the un-hyphenated site.

Or of course lose it altogether? I certainly don't use it that way. But I'd hate to see someone else register it and start a phishing site.

Well there are 130 pages of hits on Google for club-arnage.com  most of them are links from other sites.  So if you don't renew the domain all those links will break.  Personaly I think you should keep it although it's not actively advertised somoe people do use is.   Looking at teh logs shuol dtell you how many peaople still use the name.  Even if they don't know there are two names.

No wonder my customers are looking at me like I drank too many Tropilamas. I was running my life schedule on the 2006 calender. Because if it's on Club Arnage it must be word. Well at least I can buy the 2007 calenders at a discount now and spend the saved money on Stella for the race week! 8)

Is jpc phishing point an issue?  Could this really cause a problem?  Total dope, myself, where these sorts of things are concerned.
