Title: LM hospitality
Post by: fagey on February 07, 2007, 03:33:47 pm
This year I am thinking of treating the better(?!?) half to some hospitality.. and since we dont own an Aston it looks like its one of the others..

can anyone advise on airtrack/MRI etc as I have seen the websites, but need to know reviews from real people into value for money etc.

I saw on the MRI that they have two types of hospitality..the normal and the VIP club...

Thanks ;D

Comfort?

I'm sure a couple of these could be picked up from the roadside somewhere.

I think it is generally considered on CA that so-called hospitality is a highly expensive waste of time and moreover, money. If your idea of luxury involves watching the race on telly whilst being in a sweltering marquee, sitting on a sweaty plastic chair, on a filthy dust covered carpet next to a plastic palm tree, then fair enough. You might also like to note the food is a disgrace, like dried out and warmed up roadkill garnished with mucus, such as to make Egon Ronay physically vomit. Two years ago there were strong complaint on CA that the "unlimited free drink" (I think at MRI?) had run out after ONE HOUR!  :o It was not replaced until after the race ended.

How can I help further?

FWIW I think the track side hospitality is a rip off.  Of course it depends how long you going to be at the Circut/Campsite.

Personaly,  I'd take her out for a really good meal on the Friday night  once you get out of the general area of the Circuit you can find some really nice resturants.  Even the ones in Arnage are good but a bit crowded.

Of course you can't drink and drive.   But you should be able to get back in time for the DfH party.

Hospitalty - my mate organised one a few years back ???

Warm beer, served in a ex Sea Scouts Tent, with questionable hot bacteria pasta.  - Nice ( and all you can drink, eat and PuKE)

The best £50.00 spent for a 20p bottle of St Omars beer !!!!!!!!!!.

Live and Learn.

DFH - should take over the site and show them how to do it!

DFH - Brilliant Hosts, Brilliant Beer - Brilliant people ! - What else can I say

I don my cap to all of them

As someone who has booked through MRI for some years i have to agree with all that has been said !!

There would be no way that i would pay for it if i did not have to, the only plus side to having it is the drivers briefing that happens saturday lunchtime, these can be good if you are a newby to LM. The beer is cold but that about it, the food i would avoid. The vip bit is just at the back of the tent where you have a fenced off bit.

Boy i'm glad we have found a different company to fill our needs from next year  :D

How about www.speedchills.com (http://www.speedchills.com)?

Last year they had their formula absolutely nailed, the food was always good and the drinks cold.

The big problem with Speed Chills is the Location.  It's in BSJ.  If your camping in BSJ thats ok.  But it's a bit off the beaten trak if your camping other places.  You can't drive there either.

I did find a hospitality "tag" someone had dropped so thought I'd see what you get for your money.  Possibly the only thing was a Bog with Mahogany seat.

We book through MRI every year 'cos I just can't be arsed to faff around with anything else. I must admit that one of the main advantages of their marquee is the very nice toilets for that essential early morning dump. Sheer bliss!
We get our saturday morning breakfast there as well but I've never heard of the bar being free - they always insist that I swap some Euros for the drinks they give me.

Their VIP area is a total rip-off, you must be mad if you fall for that one.

A couple of years ago there was an English couple running what sounded like a very nice, private campsite. www.valan.co.uk (or .fr) I'll see if I can find their site.

No Smokie,

I did wonder that  myself at first. So I felt it, I smelt it, then I tasted it.  It was definately Mahogany.
