Title: The "I've got my confirmation" thread
Post by: Bob U on January 05, 2007, 05:47:44 pm
I've got it, it's here, confirmation in the post today. Allocated as ordered campsite, tribune and GA ;D ;D . Bring it on.

If anyone is interested, I ordered at the end of February and my customer number is.... 13575/121260. As Deb says, if we all put down when we ordered and our customer number it may help to shed some light on the ACOs allocation system, or lack of one

Gonna change my name to "Lucky Marty" ... I faxed the ACO in feb/march

Last year they offered me BSJ then confirmed their offer, I ignored both of their letters and then they offered me the correct allocation, this year right one first time.

I mailed them earlier in the week to ask when my allocation would come through - I'd applied in late June (just back from LM06 :)). They responded within the day, saying that:

"For the moment, we are registering the orders dated 04.06."

and when I replied asking if I'd see the allocation within the next week or two, I got a response saying "Yes certainly in 2 weeks."

Fingers crossed for a batch of 30 tix, 20 Dunlop trib seats and 15 HA camping...

I received my allocation invoice in todays post - no. 18043, ordered at 2006 24 Hours.

.....and here's the strangest thing........... I've been given everything I requested, GAs, grandstand, God's Own Country (HA)  ;D

PLUS everything I requested for my 2nd choice ........ so I've got 10 HA PLUS 10 MB, 10 Sommer PLUS 10 Lagache etc.

Looks like I may have 10 MB available at least  ::)

Ours arrived yesterday - full allocation of exactly what was requested. This is a first as we've always been offered different campsites to our first choice of MB, then had to wait until much later or forced to accept the alternative.

I booked in April last year. Client reference no 2331, invoice no 121278

The countdown proper has now begun  :)

Did you guys know what your numbers were before now?
I never had any numbers given I was just told that my booking was accepted in May last year and that they would get back to me.
When I called them before Christmas I was told that the tickets had been allocated to me but I have not heard any more. Last year I got the usual BSJ, which I declined.

Hoping the Tourist Board in Le Mans gets back to me, as they offered me 3 tickets for MB and asked for my ACO membership number and how many tickets I need of the three. I replied on Wednesday 6 days after the email (it was sent to work) Duh! I have not heard back asking for payment or if indeed I have the tickets. 3 Tickets will be just enough I think, it would be nice to have one more then that way it can either go to a CA member in May if the extra car doesn't come down.

Really Anxious here!

Ahh wished I had not thrown away last years letter then. It doesn't happen to bear any relationship to ACO numbers does it?

My client number has always been the same (I didn't know this until somebody on here pointed this out to me!) and I never quote it.  And it does not resemble my ACO membership number which is 4 digits only, whereas my client number has 5.

I don't think you need to quote it as they seem to tie orders up with the right number.

Yes, that's a pretty safe bet!

I'm going to ask them if I can reserve '08 there and then when I go and pay my deposit.  I'll certainly get a confirmation as to how early we can do it.

Title: Re: The "I've got my confirmation" thread

Whoo-hoo!  Blimey, I have an email from the ACO - I've been allocated three MB tickets!

Now, I'm still going to take Powermites tickets off his hands as if the ACO are serious about allocating space we could do with four tickets rather than the three that I've been allocated and if they are zoning then mix and match is not an option.

So.....if anyone is in the market for three MB tickets I'm happy to move mine on - I'm certainly not going to reject them as they've been kind enough to actually give me an allocation!   Face value and confirmation that they won't appear on ebay please!

For info, I can't remember when I ordered, it was probably just about the end of May or the very first couple of days in June, by fax.

Good News all round - seems like no-one here will need my spares this year - and as I haven't paid (cos the bill is just over the €1k mark) maybe I'll let them have 'em back.

I will mail my "regulars" shortly (prob at the w/e as I am off to Aberdeen again) but will need at least some to pay now!

Roll on June!!!  8) 8)

Here's an interesting one Paddy,

I just called the ticket office to check what zone I had been allocated and if I had a choice as I hadn't received an option with the confirmation invoice. The lady there who spoke very good English informed me that althought the areas/pitches are all marked out for this year the zoning doesn't actually come into operation until 2008. ?? Weird.

The Houx Annexe allocation is in the Hairy Triangle.

Got e-mail confirmation from those nice people at the ACO for MB. I asked about the zoning business, and the answer was:
"The zoning will be applicated in 2008. In 2007 the places will be only delimited on the floor"
I'm taking that to mean free-for-all location wise, but with marked/sized pitches?
Roll on June!

Wahay, my own allocation turned up this morning.  Now all paid up - phew! Reserved 3rd June '06.  Got 1 MB (Zone B) and 4 ACO grandstand tickets.  Booking Ref 12900.  I'll do a quick tot up of the one or two responses but I get the feeling that no porkies were being told when the ACO said it's strictly date order.
I asked if I could book for '08 but they said that this year that would not be possible before practice day.  Still, I think it's worth trying in March or April as clearly it got others higher up the list.
MB is now full and the cut off date was 14th June so anybody who reserved thier tickets after that date will not get into MB.  It is apparently their busiest year yet for forward bookings.  Houx and Houx Annexe are also full but I did not get a precise cut-off date for that although it's probably the middle to the end of June also.
Spaces will be marked out on the ground at MB but the spaces will not be numbered.  So, you will be restricted to your allocated zone but can use any one marked space per camping ticket within it. Next year the spaces will be numbered so if you want to be together, you need to put your applications in at the same time.

Mine came through today, I e-mailed the ACO in May which they knocked back saying I couldn't book before the test weekend, so I sent them another 1 minute after midnight on the Saturday which seems to have done the trick, 3 x Tertre rouge as requested. I'll be able to get a bit more work done now I don't have to keep going home at lunch to see if the posties been.
Everyone so far seems to have got what they asked for, which is hopefully good news for those nervously waiting.

I haven't had my letter yet which worries me as I hope to help some others out. I will try to book the day before Friday before we all leave for Sebring. If we all co-ordinate sending off the requests then we should get in the zones we want for next year.

Good point Rick.  It appears that they will start using the numbered pitches next year, so we will need to get our act together.

I wonder if we will be able to request specific pitch numbers?? Anyone (Termie??) fancy contacting the ACO to find out what the procedure will be?

When I went into the office today (above) the best advice I was offered was that those who wish to be together, should apply together.  Obviously they were incredibly busy with everybody seemingly on the phone and their pc's at the same time!  I'd be more comfortable clarifying this once the ticket confirmations have gone out as they'll be a bit less busy.  However, my own suggestion would be that everybody downloads a copy of the form, fills it in, then sends it to one person per campsite and that that one person sends the whole lot in one envelope.  It's going to be pretty much the same as the grandstand seat system, I guess; they'll just allocate pitch numbers as they process the orders.
The alternative of course is to see if they would be open to allocating a specific area of a campsite to us on a more formal basis but that is fraught with dangers if people change their minds as the year goes on and we need quite a commitment up front.  It could also lead to some controversy as to where that should be!  Food for thought.

I haven't actually got round to totting up the results, as I was waiting to see who did not get their allocations.  However so far the customer numbers (1st 5 digits), don't seem to have any effect on where one is in the ticket queue.  The critical bit seems to be when you made your reservation.  The invoice number however (the second one) is significant - that seems to be the reservation/invoice number.  Mine is 121480.  Do you remember the date of your application? If it's the same one as mine then that's the key.
Hope that's as clear as mud now. ;)
Anyway all, as you receive your allocations (be they what you wanted or not), can you please post the date you applied and your customer number/reservation number so I can get a bit more evidence.  Thanks.

Ok received my confirmation today, no problems Maison Blanche and tribune as usual.

But here's the weird thing: I ordered my tickets the Tuesday before the race when collecting my tickets together with a mate.
He (ACO member too) ordered the exact same amount of tickets at the exact same date and time as me, our client and order numbers are 1 apart but................he gets assigned Camping Blue and I get MB ?????????

This is weird I think and I'll mail the ACO over the weekend as that has worked before, will keep you posted.

Needed 2 extra Lagache tickets, preferrably adjoining to the 8 we already had and: "Pas de probleme, monsieur".

Nice lady of the ACO fixed it in 10 mins. and sends new allocation form by mail. Me thinks the ACO have suddenly realized that we are customers and not annoying little childeren begging for admission to the race.

I originally ordered by email on 3 May, and was told they were not accepting orders 'till after the test weekend.  I emailed them again on 6th June, immediately after test w/e, and received the confirmation letter on 1 Aug.

Seems they have lost it somewhere along the line.  I'll give them a ring tomorrow.

OK Brian,
I will tell my story of woe. The ACO lost my Booking form, or so they say. I have a letter dated Aug 2006 saying we have your order thank you, it has a ref No on it. But when I phoned the other week, and asked how it was going a nice girl called Seline said, "We have no record of this order or Ref". She then asked me to fax her all the information back, and she would see what she could do. So far not a lot has happened, exept with the help of Brian and Big H. I have at least 1 MB pass. But my order for 2MB passes, 3 GA, and 3 T19 grandstand, is in a pile in the ACO office. I am calling again today to try to get the grandstand tickets, if only for the sake of my Dad who is over 70, and likes to sit in the stands, with a beer or three. I will let you know how I get on.

Best to all
Mike

Well there must definitely be a difference in ordering by mail and by ordering tickets at the ACO office in person.

All the tickets that we've ordered, while collecting our tickets for the race at the temporary ACO office (roundabout Tuesday befor the race), were allocated to us the last 6 years or so.

Another e-mail reservation gone bad, I am pretty sure that all the ACO does with most e-mail or mail or fax reservations before the race, is just putting them in a big cardboard box until after the 24h.

Then the "chosen few" regulars are selected and after that it is the people that fill in the reservation form at the spot, while collecting their tickets that go first.
Maybe being an ACO member as well helps too, but surely reservations NOT in person are no good.

This year just collect your tickets at the roundabout, fill in the form hand it to the nice ACO lady and you should be fine.

Del, how much space do you need?  We're having Powermite's 4 Zone B tickets, we might be able to spare a bit of that space if that helps you out (assuming you secure the Zone B's?).  We'll certainly only have 2 cars...

I should also have 1 spare Lagache GS but won't know until a couple of weeks before (I've bought one for KeithK in case he doesn't get accreditation and the ACO don't advise this until a few weeks before the event).

I'll be back around on Thursday, let me know if you think we might be able to sort something.  I haven't had my credit card statement yet so no figure for the Zone D's yet.

I've been ordering for many years by email, and I have been an ACO member since I can't remember.  I also always order in plenty of time.  Last year, I originally sent my order on 3 May, but was told by those nice people in the office that they were not accepting orders till after the test w/e.  What a load of crap that was!!  Anyway, I resubmitted the order on 6 June, immediately after test w/e, only for those nice (again) people in the office to lose it.

I have to admit to being a bit smug for the past few years as I have listened to all the problems other people have had, having already received my allocation of exactly what I had asked for.  But it has gone totally pear-shaped for me this year - on top of the 'zoning'  for this year (what is this achieving??) and allocated pitches next year.

It has really p*ssed me off in a big way and I am feeling that it is now too much hassle and give it a miss in the future.

The only thing that is keeping me (relatively) sane is that in a month or so, I will be looking to order for 2008   ;D ;D ;D

Anita

Thanks for the offer.  As far as the zone B's, I would very much appreciate it if I could buy one of them.  I have 3 cars in my party this year again, and although I normally get 4 tickets so we can spread out a bit, I can make do with the 3 tickets.  As for the GS ticket, some of my mates are as big as I am, and 8 of us in one seat is a big non-starter!!

Once again, best wishes to you and Keith.

Del

LOL Eight in one seat is something I'd like to see!  ;D

We might be able to work something out with the camping - do you need the car pass or the space (does that make sense?) - we'll need some of the space from the fourth ticket (I think) but won't need the pass for a car.

As this whole zoning issue is such an unknown I've gone for four tickets incase some of the zoned areas are difficult to use (Houx and a tree and all that).

You're heading for first thing Monday morning arrival I guess?

Del, I've just realised you've pretty well answered what I asked you.

I'll have to confer after this weekend.   I'm slightly concerned that we'll need some of the space on the fourth ticket.  It's difficult to tell without knowing how the zoning will work and what the risk is of being allocated space that is difficult to use.

As a car pass it's not a problem, it's the space that I'm a bit worried about.

I really need the car pass.  As I said, we have 3 cars and usually pitch in the platinum triangle with DfH, JPC and Rick.

EDIT:  Better if we take this off-line - will PM you

Unfortunately, I can't get there till Wednesday lunchtime this year - my son decided to get married on the Sunday before (the 10th)......on a Greek island, and the only flights to/from the island and the UK is on Tuesday.  So I'll be arriving back at Gatwick 4.00pm on tuesday, driving back to Somerset, and a few hours later, setting off for Dover (7.00am crossing).

I'm hoping DfH/JPC will save me our usual bit of real estate on MB, if they are allowed to!!

Is there any logic in everybody downloading a form for 2008 and posting them all to me to arrive before test weekend and me taking the lot into the ACO office on pq scrutineering day so we don't get these f**k ups next time?

Well you could have someone sign for receipt Termie, but seriously that's a good idea, but the ACO will probably not have the 2008 form ready before the Test weekend anyway.

I always have to fill in some kind of flimsy piece of paper at the ACO when I collect my tickets, in order to reserve for the next year.

I'm always given the previous year's form with the year crossed out anyway, so I don't see why it would be a problem if we all  just downloaded the '07 form and changed it to '08.

Title: Re: The "I've got my confirmation" thread
Post by: Piglet on February 02, 2007, 11:12:30 am
I always use the previous years form and tippex the year out.

My concern would be that it appears the ACO are trying to encourage groups to go onto BSJ, if they got a chunk of forms together would they regard us all as a large group and might that be a problem?

I dunno, it's difficult to call isn't it?

Yup, Piglet, it is.
However, as we aren't all on the same camp site, it's maybe not such an issue?  It was just a thought.

Post by: Bas on February 02, 2007, 11:17:07 am
Yes you are right it's last year's form most of the time, it should do the trick then unless the ACO comes up with new "rules" about the maximum amount of reservations that can be made by foreign nationals in person at the ACO office  ;)

You never now, it's the ACO  ;D

I'll go in and have a chat with them after Sebring, when things have calmed down a bit.  At the moment they are incredibly busy (no doubt looking under desks etc for lost faxes and e-mails!)

Well I've got my confimation for camping today.

Is'nt amazing, you place your order in for camping the week you come back from last years Le Mans.

You put confidence in the wonderful allocation system and guess what......

Order 2 x MB and you get ............. 2 x Blue Nord.

Close, but no banana.

So I take them, hope to get a swap or get hold of MB tickets.

In the mean time I think I'll order 2008 tickets now.

Nopanic, looking at the evidence so far, nobody who requested their '07 bookings after the Wednesday before the race (does this make sense?) got MB.  They will not take '08 bookings before pq weekend.  Some faxes and e-mails have been lost. QED - to deliver the form for '08 on PQ weekend '07 should be the safest.
Can you let me have your booking number and customer number please? - ta.

OK got my confirmation yesterday:

Requested
MB 10 Tickets or HA, or KN
ACO Grandstand 2 Tickets

Recieved
BSJ 10 Tickets
Tribune 16 Sommer Tickets (For Sale)
Tribune ACO (Waiting List)

What annoy's me is that the ACO have only offered me alternatives for what I did not want an alternative to! There appears to be NO waiting list for MB either that or I am not on it.

Not totally upset as I have tickets from elsewhere as I was not hopeful.

For Refrence:-

Booked at the race last year, Sunday I think?

I got my conformation though today. not quite what I ordered but. I have sorted my camping pass. Main thing is that I got the grandstand I asked for. .

I ordered in june 06, (which they lost)
2 x MB
3 x T19
3 x GA

I received,
2 x Bleu Nord (FOR SALE)
3 x T19
3 x GA

So not a bad result 2 out of 3.

If the Bleu Nord don't sell by the end of next week, I will give back to ACO.

I don't friggin well believe this!!

I have just calmed myself down after receiving my allocation 2 days ago, then Mike says he has been allocated T19, which is what I ordered and did not get!!  Mike's allocation obviously went through AFTER mine.

I think this is the best solution.  We touched on this a week or two back, and a personal visit by someone who is cognisant of all the issues and requirements will resove a lot of the issues.  Once we know all the ins and outs of the new regime, we can decide the best way try to fill our requirements.  Don't forget that HA will be 'hit' next year (according to rumour), so all the HA proles, who have been quietly complacement this year, will be in the middle of turmoil themselves next year   : ;) ;) ;)

We might seem complacent Del, but in fact we have already been hit to a certain extent by being unable to get HA's from the usual sources. My mate's son and his mates were trying Continental Car Tours to get HA, ferry and GA tickets and were told that they couldn't have the HAs 'cos the allocation has been hacked about due to that stadium car park being on HA. Last year I had mine from CCT, with my mates the Audi Users.

Luckily for me this year I was sorted by the usual sources but complacent? At Le Mans? No way...

I'd think we are all waiting for the hammer to fall again.

And a lot of moaning here because the stadium which will wreck the campsite has gone way over budget - the LM equivalent of Wembley Stadium.  Humph.

My order confirmation arrived while I was away.

Basicaly I only got one ticket I ordered. One Lagache Seat.  (I don't count the General entrances)

I asked for 3 MB and got 3 Blue Nord.
Not that bad really.  But if anyone has spare MB I'll gladly take them.

Booo. I got confirmation while away, last week - looking for 30 GA, 20 Dunlop & 15 Houx Annexe... but got allocated Beausejour instead :(

That was an order placed as soon as we got back from LM06... are we going to have to start booking years in advance? When is the earlier we can reserve tickets for, anyway?

We fancied a change of scenery from our usual haunt of Karting Nord - didn't get MB that we asked for as a first choice, but got closer with 11 in Bleu Nord to look forward to this year - any difference in facilities notwithstanding, at least the trek to MB won't be as arduous!
