Hiya

10/10 to Fagey for getting this off the ground - hope to see lots of you in January.

Please please do ask about hotels (I would ask me, 'cos I'm a girl) before you book, even if it is part of a package. There are some to avoid -  like those that still have shared bathrooms and those showers that are just hoses that fit on the taps  :o :o I kid you not.

So ask away and then we have something to look forward to after Christmas, amongst other things I suppose.

BTW I will not be coerced into talking about anything to do with avoidence or anything else to do with offshore funds........... ;D the days of clients bringing their money over in suitcases is over....allegedly.

Lisa

PS

Fagey - sorry I missed you at the Rugby Club on Saturday - looked like you had a good win. I was poorly sick after cycling home in that thunder storm the other night. :'( There was not a drop of TLC to be had in the house so I just watched the golf and got excited each time Everton were winning.....I then od'd on Lemsips ;D I'll be there next home game.

Not being a footy or a golf fan, do these really belong in the same sentence??  ???

Just going to start making my bookings for this.  Anybody else settled on a hotel yet?  As mentioned before, I am foot passengering across so if anybody has a spare seat in a car coming from La France and would like a contribution to ticket costs, please let me know. Will be arriving by train at St Malo.

Its been a long time since I was out in the islands.

Anybody else who's been having trouble booking Condor Ferries for next year may like to know that they are finally taking 2007 bookings.

Not online they're not Mrs T, at least only up until January. I've my eyes, and potatoes, peeled for a Pompey/Cherbourg when and if they start taking bookings.

No, I'm just a bit anal in this regard, FS.  More to do with the fact that I like to get such things sorted. Sad, eh?

Ferry prices are not confirmed yet for that late in January. Looks bloody expensive to me! Quoted £628 for the weekend before for a car and 5!!! Footpassenger is about £100 return. What airlines fly there?

Hi Rick

You only need to come over as a foot passenger there is not much walking to do on this side. Why don't you look  into doing that?

Let me know if you want any more info.

If I come over on Condor Ferries then I can get a return for me and the bike for £83.50, If someone has floor space I can use I may be able to make it. I have to save up for the trip to the big S you see. I would travel out on Saturday and back on Sunday. What crossing are the others on?

Hello,

I've sent a couple of PM, but for those coming over, I'm just apologising because it looks like my weekend is not going as planned. With work during the night, it rules me out of anything evenings onwards.

If there is anything planned for lunch on one of the days, I may be able to get along and say hello to you all.

But if I can't, I hope you all have a great couple of days over here.

Regards,
Dave.

Hi all

Just thought I would confirm that I do have Friday's events under control.

I can meet you straight after work at a place on the Waterfront called The Bar.

We can then meander through town and decide where to have a food pit stop - lots of choice so have a think of what type of food you might like and I will make a decision on the best place to go.

A few more bar visits and then we can head to Chambers where there is a live band on a Friday night or even Blues Bar who also feature a live band. Then for those left standing its the Havana Club.

What do you reckon Fagey?

I think you might want to recover and take time to enjoy some of the facilities in your hotels on Saturday morning. Perhpas we can meet for a light lunch and a bit of a mooch around the shops or perhaps a quick tour of the Island?

Then glad rags on again for Dorans Bistro at 7.30

Let me know if there are any other special requests and I can see what I can do.

Rick, are you still going to fly by the seat of your pants and come over?

Can't wait to see you all

Lisa

Hi got your PM's

Jeans are good in just about everywhere so no worries in that respect.

I finish work at around 5.30 so its up to the two of you what time you want to meet up.

Termie - I am sorry but Jersey does not have a Tesco or a Sainsbury. I know, its a pain. Obviously there are supermarkets the three biggest being Checkers, Co-op and Safeway (which is tiny and a bit horrid).

The Co-op is near the hotel you are staying at and I should think would sell most of the things you might want.

Anyway, don't worry too much about the weather, its going to be fine  ::)

Speak to you soon

Lisa

Are the ferries actually operating?  The Condor website is *ff*n' useless! Weather looks better tomorrow.  In quite a few departments in Northern France, trailers and caravans are banned from the roads today.  Day After Tommorow? Twister is more like it!

Can't wait for tomorrow hope the weather doesn't affect travel plans too much.

We should be ok but I suggest you hound Condor before you leave Debbie as they are notorious for changing departure times. Don't rely on the website. This number is direct to the check in desk at St Malo - 02 99 40 78 10.

Fran give me a call anytime when you are ready but if you want to wait in the hotel for Debbe then thats fine - whatever you want to do.

well our guests arrived on our fair isle (fran took the scenic route to get here!) and proceeded to a, consume as much alcohol as possible (debs and the real ale!) and b, hit the shops on the sat with the force of a major tornado (fran again!).

the meal on the sat night was enjoyed by all (i hope ;)) and it is nice to put faces to names so in june at least a few more peeps can say hi without wondering who they are ;D

it was a pity that more could not make it, due to the little matter of something happening in bush's back garden, but it is a start.. and maybe something could be arranged for the future... maybe for the summertime :)

next stop for me is the le mans moto gp in may... bring it on!!

Journey home was much less eventful thankfully - and the luggage even got there too this time!

(Oddly, my bag seemed considerably heavier despite having offloaded the oatmeal cookies in bulk quantities to Termie - not sure how that could have happened  ;D )

The restaurant on Saturday was yummy - and if hadnt been about to burst in a very M.Creosote manner, I would have tidied up that leftover sticky toffee pud too.   :P

Thanks very much for your hospitality Andy and Lisa.

Here's to seeing a few more faces there next time.

Fran

Just got back.  Great to have seen you... I was going to say "all" but where the fl*ck were you?  Thanks to Andy and Lisa for their company - and Fran for helping me to slim down my bank ballance and keeping me company, and for rescuing me from the dog pound!  Could just enjoy a nice dip in that pool right now...
