Title: Sebring 2007 - BA Flights sale Post by: smokie on September 02, 2006, 08:46:57 am For anyone thinking of going to Sebring, BA have just started a flight sale. Miami, Tampa or Orlando "from £299" - which wouldn't be too bad a price (late bookings this year were over £400). I haven't looked thoroughly The weekday flights are mostly showing ay £150 each way and weekend are £165 (these include tax - approx £131).
http://www.britishairways.com/travel/septwoffers/public/en_gb?redirect=rd_septemberoffers You can get another £10 off by signing up. Book by 26 September. Title: Re: Sebring 2007 - BA Flights sale Post by: termietermite on September 02, 2006, 10:10:04 am Mr & Mrs Termite are seriously tempted. Can anybody confirm the date please before we part with any euros?

However, would apreciate anybody's views on how to do this, camp (how to take gear across the pond etc), stay in local hotel? Is a grandstand seat worth the $200 price-tag etc. Ta.
Has anybody ever hired a camper to do this? Would anybody be interested in sharing the cost of one with two ageing reprobates? Title: Re: Sebring 2007 - BA Flights sale Post by: Martini...LB on September 02, 2006, 02:15:02 pm I've checked it and can get £288 from Gatwick... just got to confirm dates with the boss.

Well, this year I went for the first time and I was helped by the American friends from Turn 10 with camping gear. Saves money and trouble. Don't consider a hotel, you want to be right in the middle of this one. Forget about the grandstand tickets as well. The view is great everywhere you go.Has anybody ever hired a camper to do this? Would anybody be interested in sharing the cost of one with two ageing reprobates? A word of advice: download the fan guide on the track's website, it's full of useful info. And you might want to consider registering at Sebringfans.com, although the forum will be picking up around January. It's very quiet during the rest of the year. You make the plans, and your gear will be taken care of.We have tents, air mattresses, cooler etc..You are welcome to stay in Turn 10,or you can use my gear to stay anywhere you would like. Most of the Brits prefer to stay with one of the nicest people I have ever met "Pidge",but you will need to contact him.His campsite is ALOT closer to the paddock and Midway. Title: Re: Sebring 2007 - BA Flights sale Post by: termietermite on September 04, 2006, 11:15:26 am Thanks for all the usual CA help and generosity guys, we have booked our flight! Have also hired a car from Orlando airport on 13th of March, staying at Lake Hamilton that night. Going back to Orlando on the Sunday to stay the night and flying back the next day. Any Brits coming who'd like a lift, please me know.
Wahay! ;D Title: Re: Sebring 2007 - BA Flights sale Post by: chop456 on September 04, 2006, 12:28:19 pm See you there! Wish I could offer help other than advice, but this is a flyaway race for me, too. I hope the TSA doesn't ban tents or sleeping bags in the next few months. ::)
Title: Re: Sebring 2007 - BA Flights sale Post by: redstu on September 12, 2006, 12:43:56 am Which is the best airport to fly to Miami or Orlando?
I'm considering the trip in 2007 and could possibly use it as an excuse to recce Orlando for when the kids are a bit older! I'd need to fly via Amsterdam or Paris as I have some "airmiles" to use for air France/KLM. Title: Re: Sebring 2007 - BA Flights sale Post by: smokie on September 12, 2006, 08:26:49 am I'm pretty sure Orlando is closer to Sebring. And at Miami you have to pay a per night supplement on your car hire (not a lot though - $3 per night IIRC).
Title: Re: Sebring 2007 - BA Flights sale Post by: Pieter on September 12, 2006, 09:43:27 am Will be a pretty empty flight, I think. KLM is about 300 euros more expensive than Martinair.
Title: Re: Sebring 2007 - BA Flights sale Post by: termietermite on September 12, 2006, 10:41:46 am On my map Orlando's a bit closer.
Title: Re: Sebring 2007 - BA Flights sale Post by: Ferrari Spider on September 12, 2006, 12:18:22 pm On my map Orlando's a bit closer. Debs, is it also just as easy, quicker, flight frequency, never been there so wouldn't know, just a thought. Title: Re: Sebring 2007 - BA Flights sale Post by: amazing 1 on September 12, 2006, 02:18:15 pm RedStu I would suggest Orlando. It seems to be easier, plus plenty of rental cars, hotels etc.It is only a short trip to Sebring.YEEE HAAAWWW !! ;D

Not sure if you get BA flights where you are (where are you) but there is a sale on at the moment... www.ba.com Also for car hire I found this the best value '06 http://carhire.airline-network.co.uk/carhire Hope this helps >Martini... Title: Re: Sebring 2007 - BA Flights sale Post by: redstu on September 12, 2006, 10:59:45 pm I've now checked up the Air France and KLM websites.
Miami would be the best for me from a flight point of view as from Newcastle Its only 1 stop in Paris , vs a connecting flight in Atlanta to get to Orlando via Paris or Amsterdam. It uses most of my airmiles to do it business class but I deserve it! I've always fancied seeing Miami anyway. Now just to get the go ahead i think. Title: Re: Sebring 2007 - BA Flights sale Post by: Pieter on September 12, 2006, 11:16:45 pm A couple of DfH guys will go to Miami afterwards, Feel free to join.

Termie, it'll be a pleasure to meet you in person and sink a few brews. I mentioned on another thread that I'm missing the Petit this year, but nothing, and I mean nothing could keep me away from Sebring next year. One of the last genuine great races left. As Hindy said, the place oozes racing history and has barely changed in fifty years. And its also as big a party as you'll find on this side of the Atlantic. In Orlando, I've always reserved the smallest, cheapest putt-putt car available and never ended up with anything smaller than a Saturn Ion. (Small, but not Lupo-sized). Last year I got a Taurus and the year before was a Dodge Stratus, each for less than $80 for the four days.
Right now, the weekly rates are about $200, and a 4-day is $80+ Even a 15-passenger van is "only" $70/day or $247 for a 4-day rental, thu-sun. Chrysler 300 ::) is $145 for 4 days. I can't believe you're using your daughter as an excuse to possibly miss the second best party of the year. :o I'll be half way through two part time uni courses by the time mid March rolls around but I've already planned travel dates to fit the party / race in and not miss any classes. If I have to be at Sebring then so do you!!! ;D Title: Re: Sebring 2007 - BA Flights sale Post by: Dave H on September 15, 2006, 05:19:01 am What an interesting thought - a Chrysler 300 for a week or so...
