Title: Death of La Musee Post by: Lancs Se7en on July 31, 2006, 11:33:53 am Just been iformed by JT that there will be no camping in our favorite spot next year >:(
The organisers claim that this year the area was flooded, what a load of balls. We put our tents up in the rain on the Wednesday without problem and besides how does an area like this flood when there is a pedestrian walkway and tunnel underneath the camping area. Something strange going on me thinks. There is going to be a new area inside the Tetre Rouge corner so we will give that a try instead. ACO, organising and piss up's and breweries comes to mind. >:( Title: Re: Death of La Musee Post by: Bob U on July 31, 2006, 12:06:40 pm It has suprised me how you even got to your usual spot for the last 2 years. The bank seemed higher and steeper than ever this year. It was a good move not taking the F40 this year, a few problems I think getting it up to your site. But there again you could have left it with me on HA, I would have minded it for you ;)
Title: Re: Death of La Musee Post by: Risky on July 31, 2006, 02:53:39 pm It's very sad when your favourite camping is no more and I'll bet it isn't used at all next year. In fact La Mussee was very quiet this year with few campers on the route up from the entrance. Rumour is that there may be a new Welcome Centre on part.
No problem with getting the cars up to our campiong spot as there is a route around the top i.e. no need to go down the dip, although surprisingly it's not that steep. The 7's make it OK, and the F40 was a doddle (suspension can be raised from inside the cab). Now the GT40, that's another story. I think if you can get the car on the ferry, then generally there are no problems. Ah well, must get back to sorting out an alternative camp. That sounds like quite a good spot, I guess its behind the new earth back where the allotments used to be? Title: Re: Death of La Musee Post by: Fisherman on July 31, 2006, 08:24:34 pm Commiserations to Musee campers.
There was a post on Pistonheads stating that Tertre Rouge camping was being moved to inside the circuit due to the changes to Tertre Rouge corner. As the campsite is well away from the corner itself and the proposed changes I've seen involve only moving the corner itself to inside its current line I'm hoping this isn't true????? Title: Re: Death of La Musee Post by: Lancs Se7en on July 31, 2006, 08:35:15 pm That appears to be the way the cookie crumbles. They keep messing around with corners which to most observers do not need changing, moving lumps out of the road, taking down the poo bar but what do we know and do we have a voice. NOwe bloody well dont and that seems to me to be typical of the way we are being mustered, organised and pushed around.
La Musee was an excellent site, close to the new shower and toilet blocks, easy access to the track, 10 mins walk to the village and main stands but that is to simple. Bunch of pratts. >:( Rant over. :-X Title: Re: Death of La Musee Post by: TonyT on August 02, 2006, 09:01:28 am What a nightmare. Same place for the last 10 years. Best kept secret imho. We have been found out now and have no clue where to go next.
Back to the drawing board :( Title: Re: Death of La Musee Post by: Risky on August 02, 2006, 12:10:16 pm Tony
Seems like our choice is limited at this stage. Maison B and all the popular sites are gone. Looks like we're going to give Tertre Rouge a try. We're hoping facilities are going to be OK. We understand there will be showers and loos and we're hoping they might be new (and finished!!) as this is a 'new' camp site. Hopefully it will not be too big, but we'll miss Musee. Let us know which site you finally decide on. Title: Re: Death of La Musee Post by: TonyT on August 02, 2006, 02:46:14 pm Have provisionally booked Tertre Rouge at the moment. They had allocated Chapelle, nah.
I will check with the team next week and confirm it with JT. Stull gutted :'( |
