Title: Joining the ACO?
Post by: ChrisS on June 09, 2003, 03:28:14 pm
A magazine article I read said it was a good idea to join the ACO. Does this enhance the Le Mans experience? Any recommendations?

wait a while cos Aco have a bad rep for organising the hand out of camp site tickets.
Stay joined to CA and watch out for a possibility of tickets for the real fans.

Yes.

Do it.

See my post (a few down from this) for a few of the benefits.
Others include discount on
Tickets
ACO Shop purchases
Free roadside assistance in France
Somewhere dry (ACO Club 24 Welcome Area) if it is raining.

What has this got to do with the question?
He wasn't asking about Camp Site tickets (Was he???? ???)

What discount do you get in the ACO shop Mark?? And are you limited to how much you can spend at a time, i.e. could one member buy 20 ACO t-shirts for the whole of their group??

Joining the ACO has no real benefits for members apart from discounted entry tickets and 10% off merchandise.

But saying that the roadside recovery does have its uses.Which I have made use of in the past.

Wether you are a member or not ,you do not get any prefferential treatment when it comes to ordering tickets.

As wishywashyman said above - 10%.

I'm not aware of any limit!

You also get all the tickets at "series B" prices - giving further saving - if you can buy for 6 people (the limit) then you save a fair bit!

The Programme is included (so there's another £5 saved) and the "entry list" in the race pack is HUGE! This is A4 in size and includes (from memory) a double page per team, with all the stats and info on the car and drivers. It is the sort of thing that is given to journo's (in fact - they do a version for journalists).
Membership also gives you the ability to order ACO stand tickets (but there is a limit of 2).

I think it is VERY worthwhile.

Again, not aware of any limit - however the most I have bought at any one time is 2 campsite permits!

I was a memebr for some years and there was a limit of six discounted race tickets, from memory I got about £6 of each one which virtually covered the cost of membership

Does anyone know how many people you can get into the AOC Club 24 Welcome Area with one AOC Membership?

I was taken in as a guest last year, given a wrist tie to allow re-entry, and it way very useful.

As I recall, partners are free, others there was a small charge for.
On this basis I guess that the more guests you have, the more money they make! Therefore - why would they have a limit ;D

2 guests at a time go in free

If I've read the ACO info correctly, you can gain free admission to the Welcome Area after 18:00 if you have a grandstand ticket

Sorry Rhino,

The sticker alone doesn't give you any priveliges at all, to my knowledge anyway. There's one in my car too, but I did join and enjoy the benefits as listed above.

If you're still keen to join then go the ACO whilst there - a bit of face to face communication never does any harm, and while you're at it you can enyoy the view of madame's decolletage  :)
