What a stupid thread. ::)

Is the bear a catholic?
Does the Pope sh*t in the woods?

The website is called CLUB ARNAGE, that's a clue for Christs sake, of course we are going.

But, first we have The Classic and Donington ;D

But of course. Why break the habit of half a lifetime?
Anyway I'll be back for the Classic - arriving at Le Mans a fortnight tomorrow.

Unless I've died from an excess of food, booze and fags by then, I will still be here.  Any rdv for CA'ers at the Classic by the way?

2007 is in the diary, and I believe the team secretary has the camping order in hand.

But before all that, there is the Classic in 2 weeks and then Donington.

Of course I won't be going next year, the racing was rubbish and there was no competition at all in any of the classes. I would have had more fun watching F1.

Oh, hang on..... I only actually watched about 30 minutes of the race because I was too busy having a fantastic time with some incredible people, I think in some circles it's referred to as FUN.  ;D ;D ;D

Go on then put me down for next year, I think if it's any better than this year I may well explode.

Gstand tickets are good but get stand 20 as then you dont have your view block of the corner all way up to dunlop bridge ;)

Nah, don't play golf.  As Mark twain said, golf is a good walk spoiled.  Will try to go but its expensive.
After all, everyone keeps going on about the improvements so I must check them out.  Because last time I was there the viewing sucked.  Have I mentioned that already?

I'll go again but they really must try not to keep the place so clean.
The camp sites are far too tidy. We did our best to mess them up a bit.
I hope all you folk on HA appreciated our considerable efforts.
We may try Houx next year as that was looking particularly tidy.

Well there is a number of CA members camping on MB, and at the last Classic there was a met at the Poo bar, although it was a very civilised affair a little later in the evening than at the main event.

Will try to go but its expensive.

45 euros for 1 pq day, 2 test days, and a 24 hour race.  Yeah, that is pricey.  Better not tell the F1 boys or they'll put their prices up too.

See you there then.  Look out for the Moggie gathering - we will be there.  Also having a trip round the circuit in my mate's DB Panhard.  Life's cr*p isn't it?

Termietermite,
Agreed, its a bargain compared to F1, its the airfare getting over thats the killer.
Right now they're running TV ads over here for a three day pass to the USGP for $60 dollars.  Sounds a bit desperate to put asses (candy flavored of course)
in seats.  Hope the USGP at Indy dies a slow, painful
death.

If you book early enough, you can get a cheap Ryanair fare from Stanstead to Tours airport, then by train from there.  Also I think bmi baby to flights to Paris?

Title: Re: So is anyone going next year?
Post by: Robspot on June 21, 2006, 04:19:02 pm
That would be cheap, providing of course that Fax could afford to fly from the US to Stansted first  ::)

Would love to come over and share a beer with you guys and debate things in person.  Chat forums are a pretty impersonal way of communicating and one really needs a face & voice to get the whole picture across. If I can afford it I'll swing it.
Still jealous as hell of Robbo for going out to Laguna for the Moto GP ;)

Most likely going as a quasi-tourist in 2007; with an all-access pass and wireless-enabled laptop I think I can work pretty much anywhere without troubling the Media people.  But I have a dozen races between now and then so time will tell.

I missed the ambience and the company, and I missed especially wandering around the paddock and garages in the early morning hours.  But I have to say that it as great to fold up the sofa bed, take a hot shower and have breakfast as soon as the race was over, and not have two more days before I got home.

Couldn't you go along with an armful of tumble weeds and chuck them over the fence?
A lad at work went to the British GP. He camped friday and saturday at a cost of £200 for camping and entry ticket. Looked a bit shocked when i told him i made it to Le Mans for longer for little more, and ours included beer and food.

24th weekend of the year but never confirmed until around December because of negotiations with locals.

Rhino,
I'm pretty certain the drivers would prefer dodging tumble weed over the beer cans and drink bottles being hurled in their direction last year.

I have just sent off my ticket order to ACO - cant help thinking this is a terrible mistake tho.

Usually I start trying to get a campsite around February - now I have nearly the full 12 months to fret about my fax actually being received, have they seen it says "2007", will it be put at the bottom of the box and all the later orders put on top of it..........should I put my "tickets wanted" ad onto the forum now or wait a bit longer?   :-\

P.S.  I have not however asked for MB - unlike certain others from the bleu encampment who have crumbled in their resolve... (you know who you are Barry!   8))

Requesting and getting are two completley different things, and my resolve was weakened by alcohol and a dislike of walking/staggering.

PS UPS have just delivered my MB pass for the Classic. 8) 8) 8) 8) 8)

And on top of that, I'm going to stand up for Fax!!!!!

He might post what the mis-informed seem to conceive as stroppy, self opinionated messages, but as someone who has been fortunate enough to meet him in person and  share a few beers as well as thoughts and stories with him, let me tell you that Fax is one of the nicest, best informed, honest, race-goers that you could ever wish to meet!

If anyone would care to look back through the archives and see the informative threads that Fax and Nordic have shared they would see this!

I'm sure the other CA'ers that have met him will agree with me!

Case Closed!!!!!

Hi Mark,
Thanks for the kind words.  Yes, I readily admit to sometimes being stroppy, and hell yes I'm opinionated!
But at the end of the day, I can with a fair amount of certainty say that I'm as passionate about motor racing as anyone on this forum, hence the reason I'm so belligerent some times.  If I didn't give a damn I wouldn't bother posting at all.  All of the CA'ers I've met over the years are a lovely bunch, and I do mean ALL of them.  I can only aspire to leave a similar impression on those I meet.  I apologoze if I tend to engage the mouth, so to speak, before engaging the brain, but I was a James Hunt fan after all ;D
Cheers all, watching the Britain-Ecuador game as I write this...Go England!

Fax, you told me the other day on the phone that everyone on CA was a w**k*r! ;)

Missed you this year buddy.  Had a great trip - just got back from France this past Friday night.  There are some great new additions to the crew - hope you'll get to meet them next yr.

I'm firm for the Petit but will leave the F1 to all ye land lubbers as I'm going "afloat" from this coming Thursday 'till after the 4th!

Yes.

If you do, try to get there on Friday for the scrutineering at the track - the best chance you'll get to see the cars really close up (apart from the Audis which are treated like the biggest industrial secret on the planet and guarded by a small army).
