Title: TomTom Owners
Post by: Stu on June 03, 2006, 02:30:58 pm
I'm busy plotting in the Points of Interest (POI's) into TomTom which will include the campsite entrances (roughly) and supermarkets. These will follow with instructions on how to load them into your PDA or TomTom go.
Could anyone tell me if the entrances to La Chapelle and Musee are on the road that runs along the top of Houx Annexe as I'm not quite sure on those ones. If anyone would like something included, post in this thread. Download with instructions will be available around Thursday.

Also need entrance to Terte Rouge camping please.

Entrance to Tetre Rouge Camping is now off the main road that becomes the Mulsanne. It is  just by the bridge that carries a road over it near Tetre Rouge corner on the circuit. You then drive along the track gaining access to the camping level with the esses.

Stu, yes the entrance to Musee and Chappelle is the same entrance as Parking Vert - on Chemin Aux Bouefs, the road which runs along the top of HA.

You might want to make sure you plot supermarkets other than the main Carrefour - the roads are by all account still pretty dug up and that part of town sounds like a place to avoid for this year.   Hopefully we'll have more info this week.

Petrol Stations are on anyway.

Pardon my ignorance buts wheres the one at Change. If you could mark it on maporama (http://www.maporama.com) or something and send me the link, I'll do it. Also anything else you think is helpful.

I don't think you can get your car into Chapelle via Musee Steve, we use the South Entrance [Entrance Sud] before. Camped in Musee with a Chapelle ticket once by mistake though!

Unless the new works and village has changed that?

We avoided the Houx Annexe Road and used the circuit main entrance last year to get to Chapelle.

Cheers Stu

It is on the other side of the River, I think you have to go round the Motorway roundabout then double back. The Exit can be through arnage if you wish.

I will scan a local map after dinner with the exact location.

Rick.

Stu, here is the location from their website.

http://www.viamichelin.com/b2b2c/fra/dyn/controller/dlPoiAccess?id=36602&productId=50143

also the supermarket web page is here.

http://www.superu-arnage.com/portailu/appmanager/PortalPortaillU/local

Rather good web page.

in effect the cross on your map is about correct.  to get to the super u from arnage, continue along the main drag through arnage pass the shell petrol station and up to the motorway intersection with the roundabout.  continue around the roundabout and you almost comeback on yourself, take the exit marked for the store.  you can easily see it from the road and unlike the location on this map it is on the left of the road as it is approached from arnage.

hope this helps Peter

TomTom? Here in Holland we've got HankHank :-\

;D

But why putting addresses in that thing which you already know? The Super U at Arnage is well known, isn't it? And otherwise you can always follow the crowd ;)

Eh, give me a break Paddy, never been to the super U. Plus I'm always gone and  I run a TomTom system so I thought it might be helpful. And the tomTom I got came from Hollond. And I'm wass'ed now so  see you next week. And we''ll talk about complaining about the loud music over a pint or 2 .

Entrance to La Musee is N 47*57.540' and E000*13.193'
Large Carrefour is N47*58.301' and E000*13.029'
Hope these help.

TomTom went a little weird on the new motorway - it occassionally seemed to think I was driving in fields about 50m to the side of the road. Also there are a lot of tram works and deviations in le Mans which it obviously didn't know about, but overall it paid it's way.

btw The new motorway was virtually empty on Friday morning and Sunday afternoon. Car was about €15 for the duration.

My TomTom did the same on the new motorway, boy doesn't it cut the travel time down. We managed to get down there in about 3hrs 45 at a cruise controlled 80mph. I am sure some of the others will get there a lot quicker !!!! ;) ;) it looked like there were plenty of places for the police to set up there mobile traps though :(

Where does the new motorway start?  Is it after the concrete cows after Rouen?
Thanks
Jon

Somewhere thereabouts, yeah. You drive along an industrial bit alongside a large railway goods yard for a few miles after the tunnel.

Have they bypassed the cows?

Nah, the cows are en route.

Not sure I'd ever noticed them before!

Jon, if you have a look on the Michelin site it shows where the new bit of the A28 joins onto the A13 near a town called Bourg-Achard  http://tinyurl.com/gd2b4, its quite a few klicks outside of Rouen.

Excuse my ignorance Stu, I thought you were talking about this sort of Tom Tom.
I just head south and west from Boulogne-sur-Mer and hope for the best.

Thanks for your replies.
I was thinking of stopping off a the Champion supermarket en route to stock up with beer to save the nightmare of Carrefour on the Friday.
Beer purchase is very important.

New motorway is really easy to find/stumble over. As already said follow your normal route to Rouen, past the cows, on to the A13 then stay on it for about 10 miles you will pass a big service area about 1.5 miles before the turning. Even i managed to find it without getting lost, probabley because i had FS guide to getting there, the Michelin map and sat nav plus KPY directions that have always been spot on (he got me a route to Le Mans last year that avoided the N138) All in all a very quick drive now. I am looking forward to seeing the various cars flying past me on the way down Thursday. Only bad point (other than my spelling) is that there are quite a few places for the mobile speed cameras to be set up.

15 Euros Calais to LM?  Thats not bad is it, you probably save that in petrol via the constant speed driving.

Nah - the €15 is just the Rouen to LM bit. There was anotehr charge somewhere between Boulogne & Rouen - €5 ot €7, not sure.

Still reasonable though...

Quite right Smokie. It's 6.6 euros at the Abbeville toll.
