Do you understand the difference between and E111 and travel insurance?

yes the E111 entitles you to discounted or possibly free medical treatment and I stress possible,  it is worth getting the form but this does NOT take away the need for insurance I am taking both it's better to be safe than sorry
How much is a stomach pump?? :o

E111 (card now, not form) entitles you to 70% of medical costs.  So top up with travel insurance.  Trailfinders are quick and easy but no doubt there are others.

70% of medical costs!, That is just the immediate operation, it will not cover you for the nights you spend in hospital, or possibly having to be brought back to the UK.

Typically travel insurance can be bought online for around £10 for the week. It will also cover you if the pickies have more than expect of you site.

And check the travel insurance small print. Under some you are not covered if you are drunk :o

There isn't a nationality more obsessed by travel insurance than the British.
Suck it up - medical attention from farmers is fine.

This should do it:-

http://www.selectmotorracing.com/travel_ins.htm

They do travel insurance for motorsport events including LM

Have used the old E111 a few times over the years - it's saved a few bob.

Travel insurance often has high excess. Last time I had to use a doc (Spain I think) the costs came to about £100 and I recall I decided it wasn't worth the bother claiming for what I'd have got. Nevertheless it's a "must have".

If you have your house contents insured with Direct Line you can get a considrable discount on their travel insurance as your possessions are covered by the house policy.

depend which insurance you have.  i get mine from worldwide, it about £110 (with discount) per year http://www.worldwideinsure.com/  and covers absoultly everything with no excess (elite policy).  have claimed from it a few times with no problems or questions asked.

i need it as it covers sports others dont - climbing, diving , skiing, parchuting and motorbiking!   also allows for pre-existing medical conditions.

recommend it.

I take your point but my friend who was taken ill when visiting me a month ago (nothing to do with my cooking, honest) has just got an 1800 euro bill after a 10 day stay in hospital, and that's after the E111 contribution.  She's regretting not spending a few quid on travel insurance now.

its like a blue credit card.... mine is still attached to the letter.. so you may be looking for a brown A5 envelope!  That should narrow it down!

P.S.  You can always just do the bloke thing where you open n close a few cupboards then ask the Mrs!  ::)

 :-* :-* :-*

Rick - a Le Mans Folder !!??

So do you all have a Le Mans Folder then, is that where I have been going wrong?

Right - being as I have a squillion spare hours on my hands this bank holiday weekend (well most weekends to be truthful) I will set forth and make my very own Le Mans Folder - scary to think just what might be in said folders.

Slight delay needed while I drool over Ewan McGregor on Top Gear (note to self: include blow up EMcG in LM Folder!!)

Shame on you Lisa - even I have a Le Mans folder!!! - actually its the same folder not matter where I am going (providing I am taking the car n all those bits of paper etc) .. but its a folder all the same!  ;D

If I have a folder then I can keep all the tickets for MB, GA, Ferry etc in one place. Imagine having having two MB passes on the windscreen of the car already to wake up one morning with the windscreen smashed!!

I have a Le Mans drawer in my bedside table as it's about the only place swmbo won't "tidy" (read clear out and throw away.  I used to have lots of sub-section piles around the house - one for tickets, one for camping pass, one for ferry booking, etc but they all got amalgamated in the great Oh-Bo11ocks-Where's-The-Le-Mans-Stuff-Theres-Only-Two-Weeks-To-Go reshuffle of 28th May.

Now I can't find anything.  :(

mind in boggling mode...

Lisa and a blow-up EMcG doll...

No I won't ask the question, far too blarry obvious innit?

The folder is the "water stained to a state of total bedraggledness after hiding under the carpet in the Midget's passenger footwell for security" one isn't it?

Well mine is... ;D

Having a new blue one this year for the first time after the last three years in service, the old one gets an honorable retire into the filing cabinet as "Midget" paperwork.

And a medal, "Pour Le Merite" drawn on with soft crayons.

She (WMBO) wont let me have anything hard this close to going to France...

 :(

Do you have their telephone number?

Thanks for that Kpy.

I called and they will despatch asap.
They also said that if you are registered but cannot find your card, and end up needing medical attention then call 00 44 191 218 1999 and quote your N.I. number and approval will be given.

Roll on next week!

I called them about a week ago and the card took 6 days - so you may not get them in time. (I was already registered but had lost the card)

You can register on the web, it takes about two days.

Mine only took three days, but for a lost or missing card you have to ring up it can't be done online.
