Title: Steve Brown Global Moderator
Post by: Ferrari Spider on May 15, 2006, 06:36:49 pm
Well done Steve.

not sure what the title means but you really deserve it mate and it couldn't of gone to a more deserving person.

Smokie tells me that part of the deal is that its a move to make the CA Moderators more human and that at bars you will be responsible for buying the first round.

So well done mate.

Does this mean we can still take him into our confidence? :o

No. It's clearly an "us and them" situation. He's a tractor traitor to the cause.

It's the word global that puzzles me.

I can't be global as in round cos he's not in bad shape for someone his age.

It can't be due to the amount of traveling he does cos Smokie does his fair share too.

so what is the meaning of global in the context of SB? :-\

I'm not really clear about this "Global Moderator" title.
I mean 'Global' could mean worldwide, in which case let's send the old seadog to Baghdad, there's more than a little moderating required over there.
Or it could mean round and ball-like, in which case I'm not sure exactly where the moderating comes in, mine have never fallen out with each other, I don't know about yours. Maybe it's a question of balance or perhaps accounting. You really have to be careful whose globes you moderate, especially on a dark night, I would imagine.
I think I'll stop posting now, just in case...

How remiss of me not to tell you all before...

I asked Grand Fromage whether Steve could be a mod last Friday - I've been away a lot lately and we are just approaching our busiest time so an extra pair of eyes is very handy.

I was going to do the change after the weekend, not after a few beers at a planning meeting, but I got carried away on Friday night and did it but forgot to post to tell y'all.

Anyway, that's history: welcome Steve,  NIL ILLEGITIMUS CARBORUNDUM ;)

OK. I'm self taught at administrating this stuff, and I'd over-promoted Steve. 'Fraid you are now demoted to a plain ordinary Moderator Steve... I hope your extra buttons are still there...!!!

are you really sure you want to be part of the management scheme over the workers, Steve, already your title, name colour and power base has been eroded.  How can you ever hold your head up high in the Stella bar on a Wednesday?

Mr Smokie will you please give Mr Brown his name colour back at least?

He's a decent chap you know.

What?? What name colour?

Smokie, your name shows up in red in the 'Who's On-line' box.  For those couple of days, Mr B's was in dark blue, while us poor punters are in light blue.

Edit - just had a quick look and Mr B has been demoted back to light blue.

You mean I'm supposed to get paid for doing this???  ??? ??? ???

btw - having demoted Steve from Global Moderator, I quite fancied putting him back as one. I think I have now got some inconsistencies with his setup. Once I get it straightened one way or the other, I'll leave it alone. Promise!

(The Global Mod can moderate on any board. However the powers that be set me up as a Board Moderator, but on every board, which is what Steve now is. I don't think there is much difference in functionality, but doesn't Global Moderator sound grand??)

thanks in advance, can't wait for my new super-powers to kick in.

Cheers
