You know that feeling when you've spent a few days on a planet, creeping amongst the inhabitants and observing alien stuff and all that, and then when you get back to where you've cunningly hidden your spaceship, AND I'TS GONE!!! Well, take heed. H Title: Re: Anyone heard from Gilles Post by: Fran on May 18, 2006, 01:48:33 pm You know that feeling when you've spent a few days on a planet, creeping amongst the inhabitants and observing alien stuff and all that Errr - nope! Brian Title: Re: Anyone heard from Gilles Post by: Kpy on May 25, 2006, 04:18:06 pm Bad news guys!! Gilles is no longer in la Sarthe.
He's changed jobs. Apparently he's in the mountains, and will not be at Le Mans for Test Weekend or for the race. I'll text him if you have any (brief) messages. :( Title: Re: Anyone heard from Gilles Post by: jpchenet on May 25, 2006, 04:36:00 pm Bad news guys!! Gilles is no longer in la Sarthe. He's changed jobs. He's not very communicative about it. Maybe I called at the wrong moment. Apparently he's in the mountains, and will not be at Le Mans for Test Weekend or for the race. I'll text him if you have any (brief) messages. :( Oh F*** I have one minor question, how am I going to get hold of the stuff he has in storage in his garage for me?? I've tried emailing, phoning and texting him but he hasn't replied to any! Title: Re: Anyone heard from Gilles Post by: Kpy on May 25, 2006, 04:44:41 pm Bad news guys!! With the oncoming visit from the boys across the pond.....and with your bits and pieces in Gille's garage!!!.....is there any kit that we fellow CAers can help with? ??? ??? Title: Re: Anyone heard from Gilles Post by: jpchenet on May 26, 2006, 12:29:34 am Thanks Wishy
I think your 8 man tent work for them. I have four spare airbeds. Just need to find 4 sleeping bags for them now. That said, I'm waiting to hear from the DfH guys what they might have lined up for them as I don't want to tread on their toes! If you are going to have some space still though I might be grateful of you taking a couple of bits down. When are you travelling? Title: Re: Anyone heard from Gilles Post by: LangTall on May 26, 2006, 12:59:56 am As far as I know all is taken care of for the American visitors, Pieter and Paddy can fill you in on this completly.
Title: Re: Anyone heard from Gilles Post by: wishy on May 26, 2006, 08:23:56 am JP

From someone who was such a prolific poster you just do not here anything anymore. What was his new job, Gilles speak to us. Title: Re: Anyone heard from Gilles Post by: Gilles on January 22, 2007, 07:04:40 pm ;) I'm back !!!
It's true, I now no longer live at Le Mans, but didn't leave LM for mountains but an another French race track, Dijon Prenois. Those who want to come and see the "Grand Prix de l'Age D'or", formerly host at Monthlery Autodrome are welcome. Why I left Le Mans ?? because of Love ! I met a girl enough persuasive to convince me to leave what all of you consider as paradise. I now live in an another paradise, the Burgundy, where probably the best wines in the World are produced !!! I live in Dijon and work in building industry... ... now it's me who require your touristic help. I'm planning a 4 to 5 days trip in London in middle aygust and I'm looking for a nice and affordable 4-people accomodation in London. Does anyone of you have tips? Still stay at your disposal however for any LM Question, still having my adress and tips book. Title: Re: Anyone heard from Gilles Post by: Stu on January 22, 2007, 07:46:39 pm Welcome back Gilles, nice to here you are well. Will you be putting an appearence in at this years race?
Title: Re: Anyone heard from Gilles Post by: Rhino on January 22, 2007, 10:35:04 pm Welcome back. That must be love to keep you off here for a year ;D
Title: Re: Anyone heard from Gilles Post by: Gilles on January 23, 2007, 12:55:18 pm Welcome back Gilles, nice to here you are well. Will you be putting an appearence in at this years race? Not this year again. It's an election week-end this year !!! Title: Re: Anyone heard from Gilles Post by: Paddy_NL on January 23, 2007, 01:15:11 pm Hi Gilles, nice to see you again here. Give your girlfriend permission to vote for you and join the madhouse! ;D
Title: Re: Anyone heard from Gilles Post by: Werner on January 23, 2007, 01:37:59 pm Hi Gilles,
welcome back on the forum, nice to get a proof of live from you. Title: Re: Anyone heard from Gilles Post by: Bob U on January 23, 2007, 01:46:39 pm Why I left Le Mans ?? because of Love ! I met a girl enough persuasive to convince me to leave what all of you consider as paradise. Welcome back Gilles, nice to hear from you again. So, what's the plan? Stag night - Stella Bar. Wedding - Under Dunlop Bridge. Reception - Poo Bar. Honeymoon - Houx Annexe by the lake. Sounds like it would be a a wedding to remember ;D Title: Re: Anyone heard from Gilles Post by: Lorry on January 23, 2007, 03:21:24 pm Welcome back Point one - there's no such person. Why I left Le Mans ?? because of Love ! I met a girl enough persuasive to convince me to leave what all of you consider as paradise. I now live in an another paradise, the Burgundy, where probably the best wines in the World are produced !!! Point two - that I can believe, I'm tending to prefer Burgandies to Clarets, and my wife has lived on white burgundies for years. As for accomodation, there were hotels in London in the Russell Square area for about £60 a night, but they are a bit rough, and there are no chains like Formule Une or Premiere Classe (with the exception of Travelodge) Have a look on the internet, its what its for. Anyway, if you're in London I'll buy you a beer - we could meet Rick in the Mitre, the Melton Mowbray, the Citie of Yorke, and end up in El Vinos Title: Re: Anyone heard from Gilles Post by: Kpy on January 23, 2007, 04:00:33 pm Welcome back Gilles!! A lot of people here have reason to be grateful to you :)
Title: Re: Anyone heard from Gilles Post by: DelBoy on January 23, 2007, 06:53:21 pm Welcome back Gilles. Not this year again. It's an election week-end this year !!! Blimey, what a change. I was in Dijon 6 days ago for lunch on my way back from the Alps.... France is a lovely country...... shame about !! Title: Re: Anyone heard from Gilles Post by: rcutler on January 27, 2007, 09:04:14 pm Hi Gilles and welcome back!
...Anyway, if you're in London I'll buy you a beer - we could meet Rick in the Mitre, ... I may have new job! (in of all places Wokingham!) I have season ticket for London until the end of February but after that it is a costly exercise to come to London. Title: Re: Anyone heard from Gilles Post by: Snoring Rhino on January 27, 2007, 10:32:17 pm Hi Giles, good to hear from you, you might try the Travellodge at the old GLC building in battersea, its a little way out but quite cheap.

Yes the TravelInn would be a good base. The one mentioned is 'London County Hall'. Its right next to the London Eye & opposite Big Ben & Housed of Parlement. Also very close to Waterloo tube (train & Eurostar) station. There are lots of Travel Inns around london so check out the web site www.premiertravelinn.com Another chain worth trying is Travel Lodge. www.travelodge.co.uk If you don't want a chain hotel, or are after something right in the middle of town, try one of the many hotel search sites. I use Hotel Direct~: www.hoteldirect.co.uk One word of caution, the cost of the room is no gaurentee of it's quality. I always check out the hotel at www.tripadvisor.com before booking. Type the hotel name & city & follow the links to customer reviews. Hope this helps & have a good trip. |
