Title: Tickets Have Arrived
Post by: DelBoy on May 03, 2006, 02:02:38 pm
Mr UPS has just delivered my 'Express Envelope' containing my tickets.

 ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

A nice little touch - the tickets are in a nice folder with old and new photos on it, and on the front is "Perspective de nuit sur la courbe Dunlop"  - an artists impression of the village at night.

Whatever, my tickets are here, and I'm on my way.

I'm an 'A', so looks like they are going out alphabetically.

Well I'm a 'B' and mine arrived direct from the ACO today as well  :)

I was half anticipating them though as I had an e-mail from UPS yesterday informing me of a letter package in their system, and a consignment number in case I wanted to track it on-line! Pretty good going really.

Not long now..............................

I'm an R so have to sweat it out as well - although not as much as you two.  Just so long as I'm not on the phone to the ACO the day before I'm due to leaved England asking where my tickets are.  I never want to have to go through that again!

Got an email from UPS, my tickets are due tomorrow ;D

But the most impressive thing is UPS appeared to pick them up mid-afternoon & according to the tracking thingy they're in Essex already!!

They must fly them straight from the Le Mans airfield to Stansted!! It sure beats the pointless flight to Hong Kong from a few years ago!!

Jeez boys give them a chance!  You've paid good money to the ticket touts for the privilege of not worrying!  It's highly unlikely they've emailed everyone at the same time so don't sweat  :)

I'm guessing she e-mailed me because I have changed the shipping address and she probably wanted me to know they were on the way. Either that or the fact that I've e-mailed her inumerous time in the last 10 months that she realizes what a compulsive I am.

I wouldn't worry if I were you.

I rang the ACO yesterday about our tickets. We were on the waiting list for MB campsite, but had paid for HA.  So we said just send HA tickets, they said we would get them in the next 5 days.

Btw, we were position 5 on the waiting list for MB.

Bizzarely I've had an email from UPS saying my tickets are due tomorrow and I'm a W  :o   So either I've ordered something else and forgotten about it or the ACO have got through the rest of the alphabet pretty swiftly!

We're not going to be here to receive the tickets - there's a chance that there might be a neighbour around but if not does anyone know what they'll do with them if there's no one around?

Title: Re: Tickets Have Arrived

I'd expect that you will get a card and have to call on your return, however they may just try to redeliver on Monday.

Yes, that's what worries me!!  We'll still be en-route back from Spa.  It's blooming typical - it's probably the only two days we won't be here.  Hopefully it'll be like Parcel Farce they won't return them to the sender until after a week.

Last year the ACO used UPS and they just pushed the envelope through the door and didn't need a signature. Unless I dreamed it but I don't remember having to sign

Me and my wife are ACO members, so as we can get 4 ACO grandstand tickets. My wife tickets arrived today, but not mine.

My wife rang the ACO and they said I should get mine next week. They have 5 boxes of ticket to check. You will love this bit, they don't know where they are.  I also asked when all the ticket will be send by and the answer, this is good before the race.

I told the lady that we leave for France at the end this month.

Piglet - I remember from last year that they try and deliver the ticket three times, then they get returned to ACO.

Title: Re: Tickets Have Arrived
Post by: chrisbeatty on May 12, 2006, 07:20:46 pm
does anyone know what they'll do with them if there's no one around?

I think it really depends on the delivery person, my tickets go to my folks house (I moved out a few years back but am too afraid to change the order just in case!! :-[ )

Using the online tracking this year it said they'd been signed for by the old man, so I rang up that night & apparently they'd just left the package behind a plant pot on the doorstep, some people!!

So you might get back from Spa & find you've gotta arrange a re-delivery (I'd guess they'd keep it for 1 week), or you may just find the package through the door, or possibly round at the neighbours??

I've got mine. They tried to deliver on Friday, then again on Monday and then brought them again on Tuesday when Keith was home.

I'm still not sure about this alphabet thing!  Can someone tell me how they show your name on your invoice?  Mine says surname then firstname which might explain how I got my tickets some long way ahead of the rest of the alphabet!

Title: Re: Tickets Have Arrived
Post by: BigH on May 17, 2006, 01:28:08 pm
Piglet, I have to say, I'm not convinced with the alphabetical order theory either, I'm near the back of the alphabet and got mine a couple of weeks ago. I'm pretty sure I'm not logged under 'B'.
Jay, it's a UPS delivery alright, but not a recorded one and doesn't need signing for.
H

Ahhh, just read your bit about Keith having to sign for it...Seems like UPS are as unpredictable as the ACO then, mine were just shoved through the letterbox.

I think you've hit the nail on the head there Peter.

If the Gallic shrug goes to the left that day then people without any name at all get some delivered. If they have run out of Gauloise then only people with double barrelled first names get any, and woe betide us if they ever run out of Absinthe!!  :o

from my experience as a postie (am now expostie) if there was a letter that required a sig, as opposed to a parcel, if there was no answer at the door the letter was generally signed for by the postie himself. this was generally accepted altho i did once have some1 complain about it. still once in 2 1/2 years wasnt a bad record! ;D
this may be what is happening with the ups guys?

Tickets arrived on Wednesday, the wife and our six guests are now starting to get excited!

Pretty sure that last year UPS just shoved them through the door when no-one was in, but this year they insisted on a signature.  Fortunately signing the little card and taping it to the front door with instructions to place in letterbox were sufficient for a succeful re-delivery.  Much better than Parcel Farce.

BTW First name P second L, so it could still be aphabetical order, or completely random, especially as I only ordered them a few weeks ago, rather than months like everyone else.

All tickets for Bleu Nord now arrived via UPS (delivered to neighbour) and 1 via Piglet & Keith K, Thanks.

Must say the Bleu Nord tickets completely in Blue with black print don't look particularly good, but thats not what counts.

Thanks for the information about the arrival of your tickets.
I'm happy to put my trust in Mr Brown and I'm sure that he will agree with me when I say that getting your tickets early is unnecessary and just a little bit gauche ::)

Well I WAS worrying about them not being sent , but now I have been told they were sent last Thursday!

NOW I am worrying about them being lost in transit or pinched at my flat - those silly lil postboxes are so fragile!

 :-\

Ah well, its important to have something to worry about isnt it...  ;D

Glad to hear it, but, just for the record Beausejour is NOT sold-out. The ACO booking site tends to go on strike at weekends. Don't inflate the *b*y prices!!
