Title: Whats on your 8 track?
Post by: Lord Steve on April 26, 2006, 12:25:29 pm
I liked this thread last year so I thought I'd start it again.........

What music keeps you singing on the way to LM?

Tres Hombres are bin mostly listenin to:

Ten Years Gone - Led Zeppelin
Let there be rock - AC/DC (Bon Scott era only!)
The Rocker - Thin Lizzy
Smoke on the water - Deep Purple
Enter Sandman - Metallica

What's your thing?

That's why I hate the French by Rowan Atkinson

First song on whenever I get off the tunnel or ferry, sets me up for the battle in good humour

Precisely M'Lord. Brian Johnson is not a patch on the late great Bon Scott who died in true rock n roll tradition by choking on vomit. They never did find out if it was his.

The Georgia Saterlites Greatest hits usually comes into the journey at sometime or other with all of us singing a rousing version of Battleship Chains.
I think that Hollywood Nights by Bob Segar is the ultimate driving song, trouble is a couple of years ago I got a fine and a months ban for listening to it on the A45 in Northampton and not looking at the speedo

Man after my own heart - had the distinction of playing a chord on Angus Young's guitar while he was sat on Bon Scott's shoulders in the crowd at Newcastle Mayfair many moons ago. (I don't think he appreciated it!)

I have returned from the Crusades accross all of Lincolnshire and dismounted from my trusty steed, he that shall forever be known as Audi. For now, I have arrived at my place of diligent contemplation and honest travail and shall embark upon the sending of missives. Serf, bring me my carrier pigeons. Forsooth, I say unto thee, henceforth and forthwith - pray tell me oh wise one, what is this device, this witchcraft, that I witness in the ears of those of tender years? Some in my court speak of files known by a strange code "mp3", some talk is heard of a pod that is "i". Sir, I beseech thee, impart thy knowledge and wisdom on these matters.

I only know QOTSA in that list.
Might have to add some of the following onto the in-car Revox reel to reel:
Budgie - In for the kill

Van Halen - 1st album (how modern am I?)
Montrose - Space Station #5 - classic riffin'
Blue Oyster Cult

Feel like mr Amazin' might be on my side on this one!

People make a fuss about sixes, V8s and V12s, but once you get a four over 6500 rpm it does sound good.  Making it do it is the problem.

Honda don't seem to have any problem with this, even their basic shopping cars can be caned well past 6500. It's just crappy old wheeze-boxes made by the likes of Ford, Leyland, GM; Cosworth BDA, A and B series, X-Flow and Pinto, all rubbish that self-destructs when revved a bit too hard.

The rest of the week I will pester the whole campsite with loud music off all sorts, feel free to drop by for any requests. ;D

I thought we were talking about 8 track tapes. Some of the bands I see listed
were not even born when 8 track tapes were replaced by cassettes. As usual did I miss something.

Yes, Honda are setting a welcome trend, it may be to do with the Bikes.  Even a Honda 50 revs to 10,000, and they've been around nearly 50 years

Wot, no bike this year barry??

I'm getting old and missing luxuries like a fridge, chair, gazebo, table, tent that isn't the size of a rabbit hutch.

I'm just spraying the tank of the bike that fits in the back of the car. :), hope the list above still fits in ;)

One day the Duke will return to Le Mans however.

Paddy that link's wicked! I had a Radiomobile 8track in my first car, a brown Renault 12. I only had the tapes the car came with and there were only two of them; one by Tony Bennett, the other by Ray Conniff and his Orchestra (Hello Young Lovers). Not really what I was into at the time and even in 1981, 8tracks were vurtually unobtainable. I once managed to buy an Eric Clapton compilation tape at a garage in Walsall.  :(

I can put an MP3 disc into the 'pooter and convert it to ordinary CD anyway can't I?
