Title: 24 hours races, how many do you do?
Post by: keithk on April 09, 2006, 11:15:53 am
Piglet and I go to about 4-6 24 hour races each year, she beat me two years back she did 24's on consecutive weekends twice! Le Mans then 2cv, Le Mans Classic and Spa. We had a nice holiday with 24 hours races at each end.

This years "plan" Le Mans Moto, 2CV Snetterton, Le Mans, and Spa. Is anybody else doing multiple 24's?

These days just the one.    Though this will be my 26th time.  I have done two or may be three in one year before now.  But to be honest I not fund any of the others come close to Le Mans.
JMO.

We like Spa it's very different from Le Mans, we go out for a week and spend time relaxing.  I'm usually working at Le Mans so we don’t get much time to ourselves,  but we started going out with each other at Le Mans so its special to us.

Getting to 3 24's this year, Le Mans, the Classic (is that a true 24h race?) and Spa.

I would be going to the 2CV's at Snetterton, but darn holiday is in the way! :)

These are planned for this year: LM 24hs, Spa 24hs, 24hs 2CV (maybe), 25hs VW Funcup and probably Silverstone. Unfortunately, I'm not going to the Ring 24hs this time because that's at the same weekend as LM. Mhh, did I miss one ?

You not making an appearance at the Classic, Hansgerd?

You know it makes sense.  ;)

It's about the dullest race I've ever witnessed - up and down a shortish course on the Seine for 24 hours. Like an oval on water really. Let us know if you're coming.  :)

Did anybody go to the Britcar 24 Hour at Silverstone last year?

If so, was it any good?

I didn't go but from wha I hear it was a good race very very wet, lots of laps under yellow, Martin Short won and he will be back again this year, I understand that the organising club is TBA, that may decide if I go or not.

It was an awesome race, hard work for us media types, and no decent sunrise/sunset shots, but still awesome, and I can't wait for this years!

This year, I'm definitely going to Le Mans, Spa, and Silverstone. Might do 2CV's, I wanna go, enjoyed the atmosphere when I was there last year (wasn't there for race, qualifying day, shooting something else), but I may be at Brands Hatch for the Dunlop thing. Might go up to Snet afterwards, and catch some of it, if I can. Haven't really decided yet!

OK for me this year it looks like just the four 24's...

2CV's, Le Mans, Le Mans Classic and Spa 24.

I can't make the Moto24 that Keith is going to so I will have to stay home, drink beer, eat rubbish and watch cars and bikes on TV for the weekend!   ;D

Watching on the box might be the best bet if the weather stays as it is.

So a normal weekend for you then? Or just a 2 month warmup for LM?

Actually it's my only weekend off for 3 months!!

And...it will be different - the blooming chef will be in Le Mans - who's going to cook for me, bring me drinks and do the washing up >:(

Looks like the 2CV's could be getting less and less likely now (nightmare!), as I've now volunteered for a race at Silverstone, for some reason...
