Title: 2006 planning meetings
Post by: Lorry on April 05, 2006, 03:31:17 pm
As easter is almost upon us, and then its Mayday, and then its June, it must be time to for the 2006 planning meetings.  I'm available for both Wokingham and London.  As pubs are full on a Friday night, would Monday be better?

Title: Re: 2006 planning meetings
Post by: rcutler on April 05, 2006, 03:36:53 pm
Tuesdays are the quietest in London as on Mondays people need a drink after being back for the first day.

Thursdays and Fridays are always packed.

Silverstone in May should be a weekend long planning session!!!

I can make most nights in London. The pub in Holborn (last time) was not a bad place to meet up but we need to find a day when it is not as busy as it was then.

London or anywhere and a friday. What's all this monday and tuesday bollocks. Some people have to drink heavily at these meets and it isn't conducive to working the next day.

Either / Both.  Tell me when and where and I'll aim to be there.

Ahh, sweet alcohol...I can taste it now.  Or is that the pint I had for lunch......

What two weeks ago????

I see my subtle humour is lost on you Rick. Steve asked us to name a date so I was suggesting that we call March 17th Susan. March 17th is the date, Susan is the name. I simply applied one to the other.

I really don't know why I bother sometimes  ::)

Arrr balls. I picked a random date out of the air and look what happened. I obviously didn't realise because I'm ENGLISH and so do not usually celebrate St Patricks day, unlike the entire rest of the country or so it would seem.

Rest assured I shall not be attempting to rename April 23rd.  8)

I suppose it has to be a Friday then.

How about 21 April in Wokingham and 28 April in Holborn.

Rick. Would we all fit in the Mitre?

Title: Re: 2006 planning meetings
Post by: jpchenet on April 05, 2006, 05:18:10 pm
Can do London or Wokingham, can do the 21st, can't do 28th! But don't plan around me!

I'm sure a few will do both so maybe only a week apart isn't a good idea?

I'd prefer London, name a date?

No chance of us all crashing at the apartment then Steve??  ;)

Title: Re: 2006 planning meetings
Post by: rcutler on April 05, 2006, 05:18:30 pm
Haha!!!

I can speak to the Landlord at the Old Mitre, He has reserved the upstairs area for us before but we had to garantee a large group. I think you could get 30 people in the pub other than the usual customers.

It is not easy to find though which is worth pointing out. There are however several other pubs we could escape to should it get too crowded.

I will ask tomorrow if we can reserve the upstairs.

Any news on dates??? (agree with mark make the dates London in April, Wokingham way in May??)

LOL.  Sorry Andy but that's one of the funniest things I've read in ages.  (It's been a hard day.  Can you tell?)

Meanwhile, back on the topic.....

Can do the 21st but it's the night before the track day. :-\  Can't do the 5th as will be drinking heavily in Budapest.   ;D

Oh, and while we're all talking about beer (apart from Andy who may well be coming down with what his Aunty had) Reading Beer Festival is on April 27th to 30th.  Just in case anybody is interested.

Can't do the 21st either as will be helping test the various alcoholic beverages in the RAF bar that evening!!!

The mitre will be very unlikly to reserve the room on a friday as they are always packed on Fridays anyway

So, 12th, Wokingham.

Also catching up, The Plough on the 12th is good for me, its post code is RG40 1RD for mapping, alt, head towards Wokingham from the Bracknell / wokingham exit of the A329M and its half amile (first one from the M4 j10 Bracknell direction).
Can provide floor space if req.

Why dont we make it a pub in the town so its easier for people coming by train? Theres a fairly new Wetherspoons called The Gig House which is easily walked to from the station....

Title: Re: 2006 planning meetings
Post by: Robspot on April 10, 2006, 09:51:05 am
I don't think you'll find that the majority of planners would even consider entering a wetherspoons, they're a funny lot really.

Oh, and I can't make the 12th either. I dare say you'll manage without me  ::)

Title: Re: 2006 planning meetings

The GiG House is OK but its tucked away and might be difficult to find for the non locals and gets full of Kids (mine included). The Plough is away out (ok maybe not 3 miles but over 2 with my short legs and beer belly!) but its quite easy to find and known from other planning meetings.

If you are dithering about whether to come or not, please do, as Dave and Jock want to flesh out this idea for text reporting. I think that's the plan anyway... ???

Yes a good evening, and good to finally put faces to all the regulars on here. Not long to go now, just 4 weeks you say? See you over there, i will be the chap with the very unimpressive, and untechnical camera taking pictures from a crouching position. ;D

Oh yes that was the most fantastic planning meeting ever. After getting home sober on a friday night for once and returning the wifes brand new car in one piece she was so relieved she has given me a weekend pass for the classic ;D ;D I think it was the little untruth about the personal invite that swung it. Now where's the thread

Train Motion getting into Thatcham lead to a bit of open the doors before I re-decorate the train! Fresh air eased the pressure and was able to keep my insides in!!

I don't think it will be big enough.

You could also do "Swear word or phrase of the day"

Friday ...... Burnout or firework

Saturday ...... Hangover or Jesus I was pissed last night.

Sunday ...... Audi

You would collect a fortune

Good to see you all on Friday.

Keep going with the swear box.  Yes we need to add to the S word.  I think the A word has to be a contender, possibly with Diesel and Quiet

Can we include the 'C' word (Commer ;))?

and are signatures included with the S*****g swear box? if so then rick has a lot of paying up to do ;D (somewhere near the £1200 mark ::))!!!

(just noticed that i am now a senior member as well! :D)

Rick was foolish enough to wear not one but two S word t-shirts on Friday night.  The price he paid was high indeed.  In fact it seemed that every time I turned around he was putting a fiver in the box.    ;D

I will instead leave it intact and take it to LM with me.

Doris don't forget about the P word. Pikeys. I'd empty it first prior to departure.

Fear not!  The swear box is cleverly disguised as a Wallace and Gromit tea caddy.

Still, I may well empty it in case any pikeys fancy a cuppa on their rounds.

Might be easier to empty the sterling now rather than mix it with Euroland monies??

There must be a fair amount in there! I saw Rick put at least 3 Five pound notes in!!
