Title: HA info please Post by: skorpio on March 31, 2006, 12:22:57 pm There's quite a few CA'ers going to HA so hopefully someone can [as always ;) ] tell me the "best" place to camp? Not been there before so don't know the "lay of the land" Will be a motorhome and tent with 4 people.
Arriving monday, so quite happy to save pitches for others as required :) Title: Re: HA info please Post by: Stu on March 31, 2006, 01:25:19 pm On the higher ground cos if it rains (God forbid) the bottom becomes a wash out. Plus its nearer to the track entrance.
Title: Re: HA info please Post by: Nordic on March 31, 2006, 06:03:58 pm Avoid backing onto any hedgerows.
Some people don't want to walk to the loos! As stu says the area closest to the balance pond has flooded in the past and is prone to knats and midges in the evening. Myself and Martini are normally in the top right hand field if you stand with your back to the concrete wall that seperates the road from the Bugatti circuit, quite close to the access into the track. This is a large metal door set into the concrete wall. This gate will most likley not be open until later in the week. Steve Brown is normally a little bit further around backing onto the road. Avoid the section of site closest to the entrace that backs onto the road as you will have people tramping thu your kit all day long. Sorry can't read the thread, Charlotte has hypnotised me again. :o Title: Re: HA info please Post by: skorpio on May 15, 2006, 02:55:09 pm Just wanted to drag this up for confirmation of the "best" area, can someone point out with reference to the (hopefully) attached pic, plus is the Stella bar in the top right corner??
(http://muchos.co.uk/members/skorpio/hasatpic.jpg) (http://www.muchos.co.uk) thanks ;) ;D Title: Re: HA info please Post by: Snoring Rhino on May 15, 2006, 03:01:53 pm :o Fight, Fight, Fight, MB Rule's OK ;D ;D ;D
PS Think you'll find the Stella Bar is to the top left of your pic? Title: Re: HA info please Post by: Bob U on May 15, 2006, 03:10:52 pm The Stella bar is indeed in the top right corner. Keep away from the lake which is just below the roundabout due to midges and the possibility of flooding.
For easy access to the track the metal gate is near where you see Le Mans on the grass bank but camping too close might mean you have a stream of people wandering through your site. If you camp close to the road that seperates the Annexe from Houx which runs at 45 degrees left from bottom centre you will be in what is widely regarded as the most exclusive area (not just in HA but in Le Mans itself) amongst a better class of camper, except for the miserable bastard that moaned about our fireworks last year. Feel free to join us for cocktails and canapes on the terrace Title: Re: HA info please Post by: Bob U on May 15, 2006, 03:18:56 pm PS Think you'll find the Stella Bar is to the top left of your pic? Not the Stella bar at Tetre Rouge, that is top rightTitle: Re: HA info please Post by: skorpio on May 15, 2006, 03:19:42 pm Thank you for both the info and invite, we will almost certainly join you at some period, do feel free to pop over for a beer, you can't miss us, multi coloured LDV with the flag flying when "in residance" ;D
See you there ;D Title: Re: HA info please Post by: Snoring Rhino on May 15, 2006, 03:45:35 pm PS Think you'll find the Stella Bar is to the top left of your pic? We usually arrive late Wednesday afternoon and fence off some space for Bob U and Perdu. If you could save some space for us all, we would appreciate it. We normally pitch up between the dirt road and the ditch / fence / outside road, adjacent to a standpipe. Oh BobU, you got me all excited there, - for an instant, I mis-read "midges" as "midgets", and my head started to fill with all the possibilities that opened up, and slight panic as I realized my whole diary would have to be re-jigged. Oh well. I don't see why midgets shouldn't be due a few roundabouts though. and just noticed, this post makes me a full member ;D Title: Re: HA info please Post by: Bob U on May 15, 2006, 06:51:19 pm Surely it wasn't BigH's mention of midgets that turned you into a full member :-\

From memory I think he was a Columbian midget.....Perhaps H will confirm this!!!
Title: Re: HA info please Post by: Perdu on May 15, 2006, 11:01:21 pm OK Woss'wrong with Midgets?
There are likely to be at least 4 Midgets and one or two Sprites in our bit of HA anna Beemer anna Awdi... And some tents and a pool and a fridge 'til the pikies steal it. >:( Title: Re: HA info please Post by: Fran on May 16, 2006, 12:38:47 am OK Woss'wrong with Midgets? Not the Stella bar at Tetre Rouge, that is top rightI hate to be the bearer of bad news but........................The Stella Bar may be in the picture, but it's not there any more. :'( :'( :'( According to Keith at the weekend when he went to the 24 Moto the Stella bar has already gone, the road to Carrefour is all dug up for the tram track and has single way traffic, and part of the mulsanne is currently dug up for the trams as welll!! Title: Re: HA info please Post by: BigH on May 16, 2006, 10:27:08 am Holy mackerel!!
We're going to have to completely re-jig our bar-crawl, all of our favourite watering holes seem to have been dug up. I can feel a local increase in gravity and torpitude coming on around our camping area. Mountains and Mohammed and all that. I remember someone (Gilles or KPY?) saying that the Stella Bar had had a stay of execution until 2007, looks like someone sneaked in there with a hatchet when they were least expecting it. The Heineken bar, or whatever it's called now, seemed to have been over-run by football shirt type In-ger-lund morons last time I was there, what's a man to do? I reckon JCB owe us a bar with free beer for the weekend as compensation for the anguish their products have caused us over the last year or two. It's only right. H Title: Re: HA info please Post by: Nobby Diesel on May 16, 2006, 10:38:53 am So, is that the Stella Bar on the outside of Tetre rouge, that has been demolished?
It doesn't bear thinking about. On of the finest pints of Wife Beater Iever tasted was served up there. Please tell me it's still there!!! Title: Re: HA info please Post by: nickliv on May 16, 2006, 10:45:04 am Noooooo
Where am I going to get my medicine? Title: Re: HA info please Post by: Bob U on May 16, 2006, 11:05:21 am f**k the lot of them I say. If they want to bulldoze a bar that I have had many a good time in and spent a lot of money over the years then that's their f**k*ng loss. It seems to me that the takings from the 24 hours, the classic and the 24 hour moto alone would have made up hell of a chunk of their annual profit. Wether it was a compulsary purchase order that flattened or the owner gave it up volintarily it got to be detrimental to the local economy.
Well bollocks, if they don't want my money I'll stay on the campsite and get pissed on my own beer, or someone elses. Title: Re: HA info please Post by: Steve Pyro on May 16, 2006, 03:07:50 pm I have the Stella bars card here - does anyone who is a bit more fluent in Franglais fancy giving the phone number a try?
If the line is dead, then we can assume the bar is dead :'( (code for France is +33) Title: Re: HA info please Post by: Ferrari Spider on May 16, 2006, 03:23:49 pm I have the Stella bars card here - does anyone who is a bit more fluent in Franglais fancy giving the phone number a try? She assured me that they are open as usual, til 2am every day and open 24 hours Thursday Friday and Saturdayon race weekend. She will have a special English menu, whatever that is, An English band playing on Friday night and large screen TVs for the football. She is also putting more tables out the front and has a license for 350 people.
So a bit of good news ;D ;D Title: Re: HA info please Post by: Steve Pyro on May 16, 2006, 04:51:37 pm So a bit of good news ;D ;D Well done and thanks Bob, as long as they put a big order in for Leffe ;D Any comment from her about the tram works?
