Title: Who, Where, When... 2006 Post by: Robspot on March 15, 2006, 02:46:54 pm Seeing as nobody can be bothered to post this afternoon I though I'd start this off, and I'm already excited - must be the Sebring vibe in the air ::)
Short trip this year as we're only planning to go full scale every couple of years. Attendees are myself and my mate Nick, staying on MB and rather worryingly we have officially joined Team JPC so I will be exposed to Tropicoma for the first time ever :o Brittany Ferries from Poole to Cherbourg 7am Friday 16th and returning Cherbourg to Poole on Monday at about 11.30pm taking my Golf R32. I'm leaving in 13 weeks and 2 days. Woohoo ;D ;D ;D Title: Re: Who, Where, When... 2006 Post by: TonyT on March 15, 2006, 02:52:33 pm Leaving on Tuesday night (13th) 11:00 pm Portsmouth - Caen. Staying at Musee Annex (far end by the tunnel) and returning on Sunday night 11:00pm.
Tony Title: Re: Who, Where, When... 2006 Post by: Ferrari Spider on March 15, 2006, 02:59:46 pm Well done Rob, I was hoping this would start soon. Also, welcome to Team JPC, does this mean you are an official card carrying member?
Usual dates for me out on Sunday the 11th mid-morning, but for a change going via Boulogne-sur-mer on speedferries, back the Monday 19th on the late afternoon ferry. This leaves the opportunity of having a nite on the raz in Deauville again. First nite staying in a swankie hotel in La Fleche and then back up to MB to meet-up with the trucks with the camping equipment. DfH are providing the advance party for securing our piece of foreign soil, so won't need to nearly pass-out this year with heat exhaustion. I think it should be a fantastic LM and just can't wait. Title: Re: Who, Where, When... 2006 Post by: Robspot on March 15, 2006, 03:05:59 pm Polo shirts are ordered, I believe the membership cards are in the post ::)
I didn't get to meet you properly last year Peter because the people I was with didn't come and visit JPC at all. Look forward to getting better acquainted this year, and glad to hear that your treatment is going well. Anyway, I'm going out on my own in convey with Muttley and Simon on Sea France Dover-Calais mid-morning on Sunday 11th. Heading off to Le Mans to meet up with the OH KeithK who will have been out there from pre-qual - staying on the campsite at Spay for the Sunday night. Moving on to MB early on Sunday morning to make camp!! Coming back (la la la la I'm not listening!) the following Monday. My trip is complicated this year by having to be at the British GP Thursday to Saturday night, so I've either got to drag all of my kit to Silverstone or double back to Bristol on Saturday night before heading off to Muttley's in Essex. Not quite sure which way I'm going to do it!! Sadly as I'll be driving on my own I'll have nobody to sing the traditional Abba "Waterloo" with when driving off the ferry!! Bet the boys are glad we've got two way radios! ;D Can't wait!! Roll on the racing season! edited much later to say: Flying Pig Racing ;D Title: Re: Who, Where, When... 2006 Post by: DelBoy on March 15, 2006, 09:23:32 pm Team Delboy (9 of us this year) arriving in three phases.

I have no idea, I really don't, it's a mystery. All I can say, and that's not for certain, there'll be about 15 of us on MB, in some cars, opposite the JPC/RFH patch, also known as Area 51. It might be 10. I'm not even sure any crossings have been booked. I think everyone's waiting to see if the circuits finished. Multiplex aren't building it, are they? Just thought I would post my plans being as I can and will be mostly doing what I want at Le Mans this year. So its yes to PQ - in what voiture I am uncertain as my Mexico mission is being hampered by a funding crisis. I should look up somewhre to stay soon I suppose and also arrange to meet up with other PQ'ers so I am not a 'billy no mates' The main event for sure, again in whatever voiture I can lay my hands on at the time - the only ferry crossing to worry about is the Friday the week before from Jersey to St Malo - drive down to Le Mans on the Sunday afternoon with just a tent pour moi due to downsizing. Then a whole week to enjoy myself. Fab. I will bring the pool, sweet chilli sauce (for Stu) the Thai Green Curry and other stuff so that the Liverpool Boys let me lodge in their enclave. We are on reduced numbers too due to a wedding and a birth (not the same person). Whats going on there, bloody bad planning I say. Maybe we could trade an invite to our curry night for pitch saving as we won't be there until sparrow fart on Friday. A combined force from "TeamMidgetAndSpriteClub" (HA Chapter) of two Frogeyes (maybe) and three Midgets will be sharing a handy corner pitch with the "Team VW/Audi Techs opposite the famous Cobra Rancho, just marginally downslope of BobU and his merry pyrotechnicians-maniacs. Pool and Gazebos are booked as are the nylon Country Mansions with Patio and Colonial Verandas. Ideal for sundowners to catch the marvellous evening light of La Sarthe while the chef prepares the Best Little Chilli outside Texas.
I hope that at least one of the team-VWAT guys will be bringing his V8 Moggy Traveller along but until it gets its necessary shakedown mileage he may use the tried and trusted Beemer. our first incursion is likely to be Lunchtime on Thursday followed up by the London contingent whenever Gary, Bob, Toby and Nick get off the Speedferry on Friday. (incidentally Bob's Late Model Midget is in PracticalPerformanceCar this week, the EFi beauty) I also hope not to have to drive from the motorway outside Rouen all the way to the circuit without clutch hydraulics this year... :) :) :) :) :) ;D :) :) :) :) :) I hope Steve has plenty of tape left... bill Title: Re: Who, Where, When... 2006 Post by: mgmark on March 31, 2006, 10:24:29 am Usual crew on Karting Nord, with the MGA and a Lotus Elan, plus whatever company car Nick and Richard arrive in. Hopefully we'll be in the usual place (albeit minus the Brethren next door this year - MBers, do you really know what you are letting yourselves in for......I guess we'll just have to make our way over to MB on the Friday night to see if they are behaving themselves)

It's worrying!!! Lancs Se7en - You are our organiser and you don't know what cars are going. Tricky's Atom went ages ago so there will probably be another 7 as a replacement. Where did the Lotus Carlton come from? I thought Doc Dale was taking a Subaru Impreza, although I am trying to persuade him to take the R400. ;D I'm not aware of any additional hangers on so the list looks good to go. Apart from the disappearing box of washing powder or was that a car with the chassis on the outside. Any way you have obviously been bored judging by all of the stuff that you sent out earlier but the list looks pretty comprehensive, any replies? :P Should we book a meal at our local for the Friday? Title: Re: Who, Where, When... 2006 Post by: BigH on April 18, 2006, 06:56:51 pm Who are these Speedferry cowboys then?
I think I may be travelling with them, booked it last October, and I think it might be the morning crossing on the Tuesday, but the b*ggers resolutely refuse to answer any of my e-mails or pick up the phone, so it seems I can't get confirmation...I dunno. I bet things are not like this in the White House. Does anyone else think they, well y'know, maybe or sort of could be, possibly a rumour, be doing that crossing? Do they exist? Alright, it seemed a bargain at the time. H Title: Re: Who, Where, When... 2006 Post by: DelBoy on April 18, 2006, 07:01:53 pm I think I may be travelling with them, booked it last October, and I think it might be the morning crossing on the Tuesday How did you book it H?? If you booked from their web site, you don't get any further notification. You just print off the confirmation page that is displayed after they take the money, and hand this over at check-in. If you did it over the phone, don't know what the answer is. I hope they exist - I'm travelling with them on the Sunday before, and I'll be getting more than wet feet if they don't exist. Del Title: Re: Who, Where, When... 2006 Post by: BigH on April 18, 2006, 07:16:26 pm Del,
It's so long ago now I can't remember how the hell I booked it! I'm pretty sure I used money and some sort of communication, but more than that I cannot say. I can see though, that my travel fund is £50 lighter, so something's going on. No e-confirmation and no post, I even see that the crossing times are now different from the ones that I booked. Has one of their boats sank? H Title: Re: Who, Where, When... 2006 Post by: DelBoy on April 18, 2006, 07:26:15 pm Has one of their boats sank? H I hope not - they've only got one. The only thing I can advise, H, is to keep trying on the phone. They don't have an army of staff, which is how they can keep the fares down. Anyway, the guy that answers the phone has probably been off over Easter. Try again tomorrow. Del Title: Re: Who, Where, When... 2006 Post by: chrisbeatty on April 18, 2006, 07:28:31 pm Does anyone else think they, well y'know, maybe or sort of could be, possibly a rumour, be doing that crossing? Do they exist? Alright, it seemed a bargain at the time. Going on past experience H, just turn up & shout at them, they'll let you on. Just be prepared to swim after shouting "there's a bomb in that car" on your way up to the "passenger area" So moving vaguely back on topic... There's a minimum of 4 cars & god knows how many people going to Le Mans this year we have only a few recurring visitors (other than me) & have no team name because of that, any ideas gratefully received on a postcard though... :) 1 VW Bora (diesel) with 3 people, a Merc C180 "sport coupe" (seating 4 Le Mans virgins) & another as yet to be arranged car pour moi (hopefully something with some "poke") are getting the 7am Speedferries on Wednesday morning, aiming to be in HA for mid afternoon (hopefully in the CA area of this green & pleasant (yet dusty) land habited by only the elite few ;) ) A second wave (of virgins) will be coming in 1 car (this bit is a little hazy) via Pompey - Caen on Friday. Heading back on Monday (the Merc driver reckons he's getting the 9:55am ferry...yeah right!!) All in all very much looking forward to it & already working on amusing pranks to be played on all newbies (ideas are again welcome...) ;D That said...planning is already underway for 2007 when we move into the 21st century with a camper (fridge, TV, satellite...hmmm). Has anyone ordered 2007 tickets yet?? Title: Re: Who, Where, When... 2006 Post by: smokie on April 18, 2006, 07:53:48 pm I've always got a confirmation email from them too...
