I thought you may want to know this and pass it on to others? A friend has been caught by a Radar gun and it has cost him £60 and 3 penalty points. He has a friend who works for an insurance company who then advised him that recent Government legislative changes to the Freedom of Information Act allows access to speed camera offences registered within the last twelve months which are placed on a freely accessible website.
Apparently, every time you pass a camera and your car is travelling even a mile or so over the speed limit, it is registered and placed on the database. You are only sent a ticket if you are way over, OR (and here is the bad news...) if you receive "over 20 near misses" You can now check how many you have against your car's registered Number at the website - http://www.e-database.co.uk
if it says Not available then refresh the page. You will be asked for a password but, as a first time user, just click on the 'need a password' link and you'll be given one in a pop-up window.
In the top right hand corner there is a "click-on" window which will even show the pictures taken by the cameras!!!

How are car rental firms handle this. 19 people speed in one car and then the 20th bites the dust ? Funny new law...

Norman, do you remeber when, I think, Top Gear tried out speed the blessed camera? Something in the order of 180MPH? was needed.

Think they did it in a TVR Cerbera if i remember rightly at something like 182 mph to beat the camera :o

Very likely, it might have even been towed behind something else :-\
