Title: Top Gear Program in USA
Post by: johnevans3 on October 05, 2005, 03:41:19 pm
I know there was some discussion awhile back as to the program "Top Gear" and when and where is the program on US TV.   Well, for US fans if you haven't found it yet, it's on the Discovery Channel tonight, Wednesday, at 10:00PM EST.  Go to the Discovery Channel website for a preview of the program.
I've watched it a couple of times and it is interesting for sure.  Some of the humor is just like this site, unintelligible to us yanks even thought they are using the English language.   I do like the wind in your face drives of some pretty nice machinery.
One other note.  In the current issue of Car and Driver the cover shows the new Bugatti and a drive experience article inside.  I saw one of these last summer just before going to Le Mans in Berlin.  Unfortunately, I was on a tour bus and we couldn't stop.  The car was in a showroom and it was a beautiful blue with black color scheme.  I just wish I could have stopped to take some decent pictures.  I did take one thru the bus window and have the reflective glare that just ruined a beautiful car.  That's my story of the one that got away.  I never thought I would see one for real but that's why I enjoy so much going to Europe and Le Mans.  It has enriched my life so much, the sights, the cars, the sounds (still nothing like those 'vettes guys), and special friends that have taken care of me at Le Mans (and you know who you are).
I am planning to go to the ALMS race in Houston the weekend of May 12.  I understand there will be a CHAMP car race that weekend as well.  That could be a pretty good weekend of racing if some of you folks are so inclined.  Both races are on downtown streets.  Go to the American Le Mans Series website for details as they are announced.  Hope to see some of you guys there.
