Club Arnage

The annual Hatch Warren Beer Festival will be taking place on the 9th-11th September 2005.

Hartch Warren is in Basingstoke, Hampshire and the beer festival is organised by yours truly, assisted by the rest of the committee which this year includes Ballast and Delia from Team JPC. Various Team JPC members will be in attendance on the Saturday night. Last year also saw visits from A Zarse, S Zarse and Rick Cutler.

There will be 28 real ales, plus 4 ciders. Entrance is £5 (including commerative half pint glass) and drinks are £1 per half pint.

Anyone fancy a drink?? I may be able to arrange a couple of beds for the night, depending on numbers, or perhaps a local campsite?

Mark, how about camping at the community center?

That means I don't have to find my way across the fields back home  :D

Would be ideal, but some Pikies tried that recently and got a poor reception from the residents, council and police.

It's a shame about the camping Mark. As well as helping Abs with somewhere to stagger too, it might also prevent him from rugby tackling me into a thorn bush and me waking up in a pool of me own blood!   ;);D

I'm sure my brothers other half would have been pleased as well, having NOT having to play "lets pick up the pissed idiots" again  ;D

If someone can find me a place to lay my weary (and no doubt, drunken) head on Saturday night I'll be there.

Delia (Team JPC chef) has offered his 2 sofas, conservatory floor and garden for a few tents so looks like we'll be crashing over at his place (saves upsetting Mrs Chenet when a load of drunken reprobates leave the beer festival in search of further refreshment)

So, who thinks they will be coming? Doris, are you still interested? How many from Team Zarse this year? I know it clashes with the Free Renault Motorsport tickets and people are stil on holidays but it would be good to see some more CA faces there!

Yep, I'm still in!  Had a pm from Ballast and believe he's securing space for me at Delia's.

To be honest, I have no idea what the band we have got booked are like, they're a local band who came at a very reasonable price. I'm sure we'll have some fun though!!

Right JP. I think there will be three Zarses this year. We will of course be travelling to the event in our own accommodation. I will try not to wee on your drive this year, if indeed I actually did last year, of which I still have my doubts.  ???

I thought you were going to come by car after how long it took you to get here last year! As we are staying at Rob's, I'll check with him about Dave. Danielle might be at a friends for the night. If not, I'll ask her if she will have him for the evening.

How many of you Rick? And will you all fit in the motorhome or will you be bringing a tent (or are you trying to Dan or Rob to act as a designated driver?)

Just in case anyone is scared off by the thought of real ale, I should add that we have 4 excellent ciders (one of which is really scary because it is 8% and tastes as innocent as pure apple juice) and one of the "real ales" is in fact Cains Cask Lager!!

Guys, a truly fun evening.  Shame the 8% cider sold out on Friday night.  Also a shame the 6% cider smelt like old socks and cheese, and was so vile I couldn't finish it.   :(

I can assure you, Mark was in no state to be taking pictures. It'd be a miracle if he's managed to take any shots that weren't of either the bottom of a beer glass, or the underneath of one of Rob's dining chairs! ::)

Just had the annual beer festival in Jersey and according to local and national press it was the biggest beer festival in the British Isle's, closest was Sheffield.  Needless to say it was drunk dry 24 hours earlier that it was hoped and had to close :0( bugger cos I was planning to go the Sunday they had to close!!.

I've said this before I'll say it again - Jersey is 80,000 alcoholics clinging to a rock!!!

Drag race, sure. Don't think the commer would have much of a chance unless the beast was fully Team JPC'd up, but I could only think of 1 kind of race involving a handkerchief... maybe 2 at a push :-X

Steve, the Beast is a wonderful old bus and I especially like the retractable sidestep. However, it should be renamed The Slug, as it is compromised by a whistling exhaust manifold and a three speed automatic 'box. The Commer could 'ave it any day, any time.

I know this because I went in the Beast with the boys to Sainsburys on sunday morning for brekky. You declined to join us, if you remember, choosing to feast upon heaven knows what else was available in the back of the Commer that morning.

Ahh, yes my good man. But in it's defence, the Beast's mass had been increased significantley by the increase in bodies who in-turn had increased mass by the increase in beer and curry ;)

Fair point Ballast, but surely this is the same as happens at LM, except on a grander scale.
