Title: Beer Festival Post by: jpchenet on August 19, 2005, 07:06:27 pm The annual Hatch Warren Beer Festival will be taking place on the 9th-11th September 2005.
Hartch Warren is in Basingstoke, Hampshire and the beer festival is organised by yours truly, assisted by the rest of the committee which this year includes Ballast and Delia from Team JPC. Various Team JPC members will be in attendance on the Saturday night. Last year also saw visits from A Zarse, S Zarse and Rick Cutler. There will be 28 real ales, plus 4 ciders. Entrance is £5 (including commerative half pint glass) and drinks are £1 per half pint. Anyone fancy a drink?? I may be able to arrange a couple of beds for the night, depending on numbers, or perhaps a local campsite? Title: Re: Beer Festival Post by: Abs on August 19, 2005, 07:09:05 pm Mark, how about camping at the community center?
That means I don't have to find my way across the fields back home :D Title: Re: Beer Festival Post by: jpchenet on August 19, 2005, 08:20:11 pm Mark, how about camping at the community center? That means I don't have to find my way across the fields back home :D Would be ideal, but some Pikies tried that recently and got a poor reception from the residents, council and police. Title: Re: Beer Festival Post by: Ballast on August 22, 2005, 08:34:45 am It's a shame about the camping Mark. As well as helping Abs with somewhere to stagger too, it might also prevent him from rugby tackling me into a thorn bush and me waking up in a pool of me own blood! ;);D
I'm sure my brothers other half would have been pleased as well, having NOT having to play "lets pick up the pissed idiots" again ;D Title: Re: Beer Festival Post by: Doris on August 22, 2005, 09:39:14 am Hmmm cider.....
If someone can find me a place to lay my weary (and no doubt, drunken) head on Saturday night I'll be there. Title: Re: Beer Festival Post by: catob on August 22, 2005, 11:00:42 pm Really MARK you ought to be ashamed,
a BEER FESTIVAL, ??? with a name like jpcenet, a wine and cheese partywould be more appropriate. What ever you drink make sure it's in moderation, HA ! HA! HA! ;D Title: Re: Beer Festival Post by: catob on August 22, 2005, 11:05:17 pm Sorre got the spilling rong JP must be a litl tipce ??? :D
Title: Re: Beer Festival Post by: jpchenet on September 01, 2005, 07:27:00 pm Delia (Team JPC chef) has offered his 2 sofas, conservatory floor and garden for a few tents so looks like we'll be crashing over at his place (saves upsetting Mrs Chenet when a load of drunken reprobates leave the beer festival in search of further refreshment)
So, who thinks they will be coming? Doris, are you still interested? How many from Team Zarse this year? I know it clashes with the Free Renault Motorsport tickets and people are stil on holidays but it would be good to see some more CA faces there! Title: Re: Beer Festival Post by: Doris on September 01, 2005, 07:38:10 pm Yep, I'm still in! Had a pm from Ballast and believe he's securing space for me at Delia's.
Title: Re: Beer Festival Post by: rcutler on September 01, 2005, 10:24:33 pm I shall probably be there!!

Do I have to play the Air "Filled" Guitar's again??? Only if you get it retuned! ;D To be honest, I have no idea what the band we have got booked are like, they're a local band who came at a very reasonable price. I'm sure we'll have some fun though!! Title: Re: Beer Festival Post by: Andy Zarse on September 05, 2005, 04:55:44 pm Right JP. I think there will be three Zarses this year. We will of course be travelling to the event in our own accommodation. I will try not to wee on your drive this year, if indeed I actually did last year, of which I still have my doubts. ???
PS Is Dave allowed to come? Title: Re: Beer Festival Post by: rcutler on September 05, 2005, 05:40:56 pm I shall make an appearence. Not sure if it will be in the trusty motorhome again though. Trying to persuade a few mates along.

PS Is Dave allowed to come? I thought you were going to come by car after how long it took you to get here last year! As we are staying at Rob's, I'll check with him about Dave. Danielle might be at a friends for the night. If not, I'll ask her if she will have him for the evening. Title: Re: Beer Festival Post by: jpchenet on September 05, 2005, 06:38:40 pm I shall make an appearence. Not sure if it will be in the trusty motorhome again though. Trying to persuade a few mates along. How many of you Rick? And will you all fit in the motorhome or will you be bringing a tent (or are you trying to Dan or Rob to act as a designated driver?) Title: Re: Beer Festival Post by: rcutler on September 05, 2005, 09:20:50 pm Dan said that he is not sure,
Rob said he was thinking of going to the Renault Motorsport Fantasia! on his own ::) The fact that they serve Real Ale has put them off ::) what did they think is served at a beer festival?? See if I can get as happly drunk as last year? Title: Re: Beer Festival Post by: SteveZarse on September 08, 2005, 06:08:40 pm DRINK!
Title: Re: Beer Festival Post by: Ballast on September 08, 2005, 08:05:23 pm That's what I like about you Steve. No f*cking around, straight to the point. Now, where's the gap in that barrier? ;)
Title: Re: Beer Festival Post by: jpchenet on September 09, 2005, 12:52:18 am Just in case anyone is scared off by the thought of real ale, I should add that we have 4 excellent ciders (one of which is really scary because it is 8% and tastes as innocent as pure apple juice) and one of the "real ales" is in fact Cains Cask Lager!!
Title: Re: Beer Festival Post by: Bob U on September 09, 2005, 10:59:00 am one of the "real ales" is in fact Cains Cask Lager!! Sorted :PTitle: Re: Beer Festival Post by: Doris on September 09, 2005, 10:59:22 am 8% and tastes as innocent as pure apple juice Uh Oh!!!! ;D Title: Re: Beer Festival Post by: Bob U on September 09, 2005, 11:02:49 am That's got to be better that that health drink stuff you were drinking at Silverstone
Title: Re: Beer Festival Post by: Abs on September 09, 2005, 11:28:42 am I should add that we have 4 excellent ciders (one of which is really scary because it is 8% and tastes as innocent as pure apple juice) Mark, don't tell them it's cider, promote them as palette cleansers, each one to be tried after four real ales.... At least that's what Gazza, Nige and I told ourselves last year ::) ::) 16 real ales and 4 ciders :-\ :-X :'( Title: Re: Beer Festival Post by: jpchenet on September 09, 2005, 01:43:44 pm I should add that we have 4 excellent ciders (one of which is really scary because it is 8% and tastes as innocent as pure apple juice) Mark, don't tell them it's cider, promote them as palette cleansers, each one to be tried after four real ales.... I will phone Rob tonight or tomorrow to ask about parking!
Title: Re: Beer Festival Post by: Ferrari Spider on September 11, 2005, 11:56:57 am Bloody marvellous, large choice of ales, band, food and in particular CAer's. Hope the heads don't hurt too much this morning. Smokie which excuse did you use this time?
Title: Re: Beer Festival Post by: smokie on September 11, 2005, 12:11:16 pm Oh dear, am I getting a reputation for excuses? :)
Suffice to say - I didn't stop over - but class evening! Oh and, as predicted, I am not at Donington... Be back later - more chores to do :-\ Title: Re: Beer Festival Post by: SteveZarse on September 11, 2005, 03:47:04 pm Smokie, you're a legend - how many trips did you do? I was far too drunk to count beyond 1, but anyway, kudos to you for your generosity aswell as your spacious boot...
Top night out - Thanks to Mark, Rob, and of course Rob's next door neighbour. ;D ;D ps The Skull Splitter didn't work Title: Re: Beer Festival Post by: Bob U on September 11, 2005, 09:16:59 pm A good night out, worth the 60 mile drive. Great hospitalty and company.

Title: Re: Beer Festival Post by: Doris on September 12, 2005, 10:00:17 am and of course Rob's next door neighbour. ...Who called us a bunch of pissheads! Such slander!!! ;D ;D Guys, a truly fun evening. Shame the 8% cider sold out on Friday night. Also a shame the 6% cider smelt like old socks and cheese, and was so vile I couldn't finish it. :( Title: Re: Beer Festival Post by: SteveZarse on September 12, 2005, 11:47:21 am ... So how many copies of that CD am I doing?? Form an orderly queue.

Thanks to JP and Rob for the hospitality and Smokie for the lift back. As for Bob U, all that "I've got to get back for the cats" nonsense. I told you they'd be ok!

Form an orderly queue. Steve, assuming this is the midnight VW event, put me down for one please.Would that be the one you tried to show everyone three times on Saturday night before remembering the memory card was at home? ::) Put me down for one of those as well. Title: Re: Beer Festival Post by: SteveZarse on September 12, 2005, 05:51:19 pm Would that be the one you tried to show everyone three times on Saturday night before remembering the memory card was at home? ::) Now is that the way to get something done for you? Hmmm? Besides, that Autumn Frenzy had buggered off with my short term memory. Title: Re: Beer Festival Post by: Doris on September 12, 2005, 06:18:44 pm Probably not, but if you're expecting an apology you've come to the wrong place. :P
Strange how the Autumn Frenzy didn't bugger with my short term memory. I do have to thank you for that recommendation though. Very nice. :) Title: Re: Beer Festival Post by: SteveZarse on September 12, 2005, 06:29:57 pm Strange how the Autumn Frenzy didn't bugger with my short term memory. Ahh but it did, you just don't remember ??? Title: Re: Beer Festival Post by: Doris on September 13, 2005, 12:47:59 am Well if it did then some things are starting to filter back through the haze.
Can someone tell me what race I said I would start? ??? Title: Re: Beer Festival Post by: amazing 1 on September 13, 2005, 03:37:22 pm Mark, where are the beer fest.pics you mentioned.Would love to see them. :o

It'd be a miracle if he's managed to take any shots that weren't of either the bottom of a beer glass, or the underneath of one of Rob's dining chairs! ::)Title: Re: Beer Festival Post by: amazing 1 on September 13, 2005, 06:08:20 pm Under the chairs huh? That sounds like Amazing at Sebring, face down in the dirt.Did anyone get any shots of Mark under the chairs?
Title: Re: Beer Festival Post by: The Planman on September 13, 2005, 09:45:51 pm Hi chaps
Pop up from time to time. Just had the annual beer festival in Jersey and according to local and national press it was the biggest beer festival in the British Isle's, closest was Sheffield. Needless to say it was drunk dry 24 hours earlier that it was hoped and had to close :0( bugger cos I was planning to go the Sunday they had to close!!. I've said this before I'll say it again - Jersey is 80,000 alcoholics clinging to a rock!!! Planman Title: Re: Beer Festival Post by: Doris on September 13, 2005, 10:34:11 pm You agreed to start the race between the comma and the beast :D Cheers Gazza. I'll get the handkerchief ready. :) Title: Re: Beer Festival Post by: SteveZarse on September 13, 2005, 10:40:55 pm Hang on - what kind of race is this??
Title: Re: Beer Festival Post by: Ballast on September 14, 2005, 09:36:11 am Mornin Steve,
Drag race. Don't you remember? you were there you know ;) Title: Re: Beer Festival Post by: SteveZarse on September 14, 2005, 09:44:31 am Drag race, sure. Don't think the commer would have much of a chance unless the beast was fully Team JPC'd up, but I could only think of 1 kind of race involving a handkerchief... maybe 2 at a push :-X
Title: Re: Beer Festival Post by: Andy Zarse on September 14, 2005, 12:00:54 pm Drag race, sure. Don't think the commer would have much of a chance unless the beast was fully Team JPC'd up, but I could only think of 1 kind of race involving a handkerchief... maybe 2 at a push :-X Steve, the Beast is a wonderful old bus and I especially like the retractable sidestep. However, it should be renamed The Slug, as it is compromised by a whistling exhaust manifold and a three speed automatic 'box. The Commer could 'ave it any day, any time. I know this because I went in the Beast with the boys to Sainsburys on sunday morning for brekky. You declined to join us, if you remember, choosing to feast upon heaven knows what else was available in the back of the Commer that morning. Title: Re: Beer Festival Post by: Ballast on September 14, 2005, 12:14:03 pm Ahh, yes my good man. But in it's defence, the Beast's mass had been increased significantley by the increase in bodies who in-turn had increased mass by the increase in beer and curry ;)
Title: Re: Beer Festival Post by: Andy Zarse on September 14, 2005, 03:34:38 pm Ahh, yes my good man.
