Title: London debrief and beverage session
Post by: Steve Pyro on July 11, 2005, 05:20:00 pm

It would appear that, following the Server outrage, the original thread has shuffled off this mortal coil.

So.....

When ?
Where ?

etc ............

Thursdays and Fridays are best for me, but would endevour to make any date.

I guess this week is too short on notice, but from next week on.

Could I suggest Friday 22nd ? but open to alternatives.

Can I come (if I can find anybody)

Where? The Argyll is a dump, but it has to be somewhere central

Weekend of the 22 is busy for me. How about the next one. We can call it a Le Mans de-brief and a Silverstone Planning meeting then!!

A few options on the boozer .
The White horse in Newburgh street just down the road from The Argyll is OK and has plenty of outside space. We use the Lamb and Flag in Covent Garden for exactly the same reason. The Old Coffee House in Beak Street is another fav. Midas Touch in Golden square again has outside space, a bit poncey but has crumpet from Virgin Radio and the ad agencies in the square.
I can't do the 22nd either.

Rusty I am in awe of your knowledge of drinking establishments in London and elsewhere. I read a book of top 10 places to have a pint in London and the Lamb was right at the top.

Hi Phil,
The Lamb is quality, it is tucked away down a narrow cobbled street.
I've used it for many years now on and off.
A very nice touch they used to have was all the hard core regulars had a small brass name plaque on the bar. These have been moved since a refurb ( not for the better I may add ) and now adorn the top rail of the bar. My pal Hinch's dog 'Welly' even had his own plaque where the staff used to feed him sausages. He also got priority of service over the customers.

Any chance of it being the 29th for those of us who are planning to commute into town?? :)

Either will do me.
Prefer the 29th as it's a friday, but not that fussed either way.

Is that it then, 29th, settled?

Earlyish start I pressume, as it's a Friday. What time will the London based contingent be there from?

Us carrot crunchers, coming in from the sticks, will be slighly later I guess. However, as I get every other Friday off, I'll be alright for early doors ;D.

Looking forward to putting a few faces to names.

That's excellent.
Sadly Welly passed away a few years ago, but his memory still lasts.
He was a beautiful black cow eyed spaniel, all the tourists loved him. Our cries of 'don't touch the f**k*ng dog' fell on deaf ears sadly.
They went away clutching their wounds, and we all laughed.
Those were the days.
Ahhhh.

I remember the last time I went to the Lamb, took you in the Omega Andy.

When we got back to the car there was a warden just starting writing a ticket - front wheels over a double yellow was it?

:) No Rick, I have a bad neck at the mo and the thought of vomitting is worse than normal. Anyway, it wasn't me who was sick last time, so far as I'm aware.

Andy, It Sounds like your neck is need of exercise.
tip backward and forward in time with holding a counterbalance in your right hand occassionally making it lighter by emptying the contents down the neck internally.
Catch up with you next time, I'll put one in the tum for you.

I was at the Southern debrief session, once I found the right White Hart in Wimborne...

I'm not sure if GCSE results have just been published, but the place was full of inebriated youngsters - not all of whom were unpleasing to the eye :P :P :P  ;D

We had a great time, JPC, Ballast, Paddy, Ferrari Spider, Mrs FS and ...err...whatsisname (apologies, Im getting old - Rob?) were there.

Paddy, how's your head today?  ::) ::)

Then afterwards I dropped Paddy back home and called the satnav centre for nearest 24 hour fuel, as I didn't have enough to get home. They sent me 30 miles in the wrong direction to a closed petrol station, then another 4 miles to a demolished one. Luckily when I waved down a passing Plod-u-like he took me to a 24 h Tesco card only place. Got home about 02:15...

Hope London was as good. Planning for 2006 is now well under way....  :)

A splinter group eh!

Yes, we all had a most pleasant time.  Likewise, the pub and surrounding area was choc full of young (but legal aged, Smokie) totty.  I was intrigued by a lolly sucking lady (better than a banana);  Bob U by a shapely pair of buttocks and Trayboy by an oriental lady.

Rick C took a few compromising photos and no doubt will sell them at inflated blackmail prices later.

It is now 5:25pm and I am just about feeling human again.

I must have been pissed cos I grabbed a muckdonalds on my way through Leicester Square, I hadn't had one for at least years but they still taste like sh*t. I do remember the bird in the Ferrari shirt with the nice arse and the Asian girl sucking the lolly.

Great night must do it again some time.

There was a suggestion that we should try the Mitre.  Great little pub.  But when?  Christmas would be good, but I can't wait that long.

Sorry for the late reaction, just got back and am home now after three weeks of UK.

Felt a bit rough the next morning. Still missing a few bits and pieces of that night. As I got out of the caravan I found a pint glass on top of the car, that might explain the missing bits of memory in my head.

Thanks very much for bringing me back Smokie, sorry you got messed about regarding the petrol. Glad you made it after all. Cheers! :)
