Good to meet you at the poo bar mate, just sorry I didn't make it over for a look at the snake. Hope to see it in the future.

Hey Steve, that looks remarkably like the old road north of Rouen to Abbeville.
Can you remember where the picture was taken? Cheers.

- the road parallel to the motorway north of Neufchafel
-
Yep ;D :D Thought I recognised it.
I still remember that road with great fondness.
Shame all my lot are just in a rush to get everywhere so fast these days, so they won't use the old roads anymore. :(
I am seriously considering going back to the old days, and going down on my own or with just one passenger.
-
...... so they won't use the old roads anymore. :(
They're missing this sort of thing then ;D
-
;) ;) That's it, go on, rub it in!! :o

Have to say I was glad Aston didn't win. How, in what is supposed to be a British team, they only employed one British driver I do not know. ::) What about Andy Wallace, Perry McArthy, Guy Smith or some up and coming British driver ?
I'll cheer them next year when Martin Brundle and Mark Blundell enter a private Aston. :D
-
Thats the differance between Le Mans and other types of racing. Its the car that is important, the driver is just that, it matters note a jot where he comes from, the national anthem will be british and it will be a british win.
If he is driving a Brit car and he has the pleasure to win he should enter the heart of all British fans; Lammers, Shelby, Nielsen etc, all have a special place in Le Mans History.
-
Well said Nordic. I even cheered for Johnny Dumfries in 88 and he's a Scotchman!
-
I am pretty sure his great great grandfather would have been English, and he is a peer so that must count for something.
PS, Can someone change the title of this thread, it bugs the tits of me every time I look at it, chevolette for fucks sake, makes us look like a bunch of div's.
-
You can edit the subject in each post but only the Smoking Man can change the whole thing.
-
Internet breaks more in life than you like, for instance the languageskills of the youth. :(
-
At least Jag had Andy Wallace & Johnny Dumfries in 1988...but I catch yer drift. The French teams do get much more patriotic though.
If I can wade in any deeper ;), I would also say the Astons sounded a but dull compared to the Chevrolet Corvettes...just my two pennies. Anyone know what that little light pointing down from the rear right of the Corvette is/was for ?
-
Firestarter,
In the name of Janet Street-Porter's inch thick double-walled hymen, will you please amend your typo.
-

Our best guess was a device to measure speed.
-
Firestarter,
Jesus lad! Your grammar teacher is going to have a stroke if he or she sees that first post.
As for the light on the right rear corner of the Vette, I'm holding out for an explanation from our resident Corvette
expert, Matt Harper. They didn't make any mention of it on the Speed Channel coverage that I saw and I don't recall seeing it at Sebring or Mid-Ohio. Anyone want to drop Pratt & Miller a line at www.prattmiller.com and ask?

Firestarter, I seriously hope for you that it's not the Gimp. You can't be sure these days...
-
everytime I read the title, I read it as Chevette beat Aston :o.
I can feel the vauxhall power from here ;D

I dunno John - so I've emailed Michigan and asked them!
-
That light may be a speed sensor like this.

every one keeps complaining about the title of this post if someone can come up with a better one then please post it thanx
-
Firestarter,
With all due respect, it wasn't the title of your posting, it was the nightmarish spelling of it. Smokie adjusted it in the interest of everyone's sanity. I quick bit of advice, this is primarily an adult site and if you throw in a posting that includes horrific grammar and numerical substitutions for words, your going to get ridiculed.

Can someone explain in a Nutshell how a light shinning on tarmac can sense and record speed? Shirley... it needs a reference for translation. ???
-
I think you will find its a bit like a barcode scanner, the data sheet mentions an optical grating, the disruption of a refected light over a given size is sensed and timed, therefore speed can be calculated.
-
Chevy beware this thing will bite you.
