Title: Breakdown cover
Post by: Andy on June 09, 2005, 06:07:40 pm
Does anyone know of a breakdown cover service that does not trade under the name of Dick Turpin.
Just contacted RAC & they want nearly £60 this year for a Motorbike.
Anyone get me a quote from ACO?

Is that for the UK/inc. relay or just the trip to France?

Are you a member of any motor related clubs?

I was having a look around today for cover (mainly as the car has only gone about 1 mile under it's own power in the last 18 months!) and the AA were the cheapest of the well known brands (cheaper than the RAC with membership discount).

(still with a big long list of jobs to do on the car!)

A point worth noting is that both the AA & RAC add a hefty premium for older cars (10+ or 15+ can't remember).  However the RAC will waive this if you are in a recognised club the AA won't.  I'm paying about £42 for 8 days cover for a '63 Sprite with the RAC, AA quote was seventy something.

Have you tried MCI the one advertised in MCN they are supposed to be pretty good and cheaper for motorbikes

Try Autonational Rescues european wing, I got cover for my Alfa for 18 notes for 5 days.

Pretty reasonable i thought.

If you buy an AA Maxi Atlas of France (2005 ed) @£12.99 then you get a voucher code for £10 off Euro Cover.

Can then buy online from AA and just stick in the code.. if you know it.

Erm...spending £12.99 to get £10 off isn't my idea of a bargain...each to his own though! :)

It is if you need a Road Atlas!

Anyway if you didn't want to buy one, all you need to do is find out the code ;)

I paid £28 for the car for 9 days over the internet with
http://www.vehicle-rescue.com/index.html

I'll have to look into this earlier next year as I always leave it to the last minute.
