Title: What ya' got new for 2005?
Post by: Russ on June 03, 2005, 03:50:53 pm
All that talk last year about 'Next Year...'

Well come on, tell us what you're doing new this year to better last year!!

We've got a few simple improvements, a lap top for providing card score stats & graphs (a Le Mans essential as far as were concerned! No really!), fairy lights for the new pop-up gazebo if the genny can handle it, a much improved brand new camper van (courtesy of Gaz) which apparently includes what's called a 'garage'..!

Nothing too eccentric there I know, but out of little things mountains are built... (That well known saying!)

So time to put your money where last years mouth was....

Right...

Considering last time I went was in 2002 and I took a sleeping bag and tent then pretty much everything is new but so far...

3 inflatable England armchairs
1 10ft easy up pool with solar cover
1 gas bbq
1 hexagonal marquee
1 fun pool convertible
1 5m telescopic flag pole
1 50m hose and fittings
1 2 kVa silent generator
2 fridges
1 three way camping fridge
2 walkie talkies
1 4 man tent
1 ninja penguin racing flag
1 club arnage flag (made by me cos I missed the orders)
1 Aston Martin flag and cap
1 jolly excited boy !!!!!! That's me by the way, not really new though as I always tend to be excited

Much duller but a much stronger boot rack so the spare wheel can go on the boot of the Sprite giving us more boot space for luxuries like food and clothing.

Oh and a bicycle speedometer so that I can tell a bit more accurately how fast we are going to stay on the right side of the gendemerie (sp?).  This also has the side benefit that I can recalibrate to km/h for the week, no more multiplication by 1.6 on the fly.

Not earth shattering I know but they make me happy!

No huge changes to our ensemble as we have limited carrying capacity.

However, the car has new brake fluid and will have the oil changed soon.

We intend to take our 10m x 3m gazebo as before but, without the Chevy pickup, it'll be 10 poles here, 10 poles there etc.

So the major change will be that we WON'T have it and will have to rely on Carrefour.

Our 11th year, but first year with a generator and full-size fridge.

First year we didn't even have a tent or sleeping bag with us. Five of us just lived in a Toyota Previa for the whole stay.

New for this year,

A Le Mans virgin - My Brother in Law,

A much quieter trip as i have dropped the minibus full of piss heads that I have taken the last 4 years in favour of a) my brother in law, b) a cheaper  trip, and c) a  more comfortable trip.

A new digital SLR camera, which should relight my enthusiam to try and take racing pictures there again.

A better knowledge of putting names to faces at the Shampoo bar, thanks to the mainy that turned up at Sebring ! You know who you are !
(Did i mention i went to Sebring  !)

A diesel Audi A4 to travel in comfort rather than a knackered old minibus that struggled up hills.

Hopefully a nice new Motley Crue tour shirt from the concert the night before my ferry to LM ! ;D

Things from last year or previous years that I won't have this year, mainly due to not taking the mini bus full of piss heads.

1) People pissing in freezer bags and throwing them out the window or emptying them out the window when there is an open top car driving behind !

2) Pulling over on the N138 on the edge of Le Mans for someone to have a piss, only for someone else to get out, drop his pants and have a sh*t on the verge in full view of us and on coming traffic.

3) One of the passengers hanging his bare arse out the front window of the mini bus for the first 30 miles out of Le Mans on the N138.

4) Stopping in traffic on the N138, the lads getting out for a piss, so i drove on in the traffic with them running behind trying to catch up. One of them with his pants round his ankles.

5) Coming back to the mini van after the parade to find out that one of the lads has followed through on a fart and soiled his under crackers. The said under crackers were then placed under the windscreen wipers of a French taxi that was parked up when we left. (I had to talk them out of putting them on the windscreen of a British owned Ferrari ! )

One of the said piss heads !

Cause and effect, A bottle of vodka drunk in 20 minutes !

We carried him into his tent, and in the morning he woke up and had pissed himself in the night!

Ok, i'm going to explain the inflatable cricket: The stumps have a solid base, but the actual wickets are inflatable. the bat has a solid rod down it, and the area around it is inflatable. the ball is also very soft. i thought of bringing it after last year the 'Rat Pack' brought some home-made whisky and these guys on terte rouge started playing cricket at 12.00 at night with a stick and a pine cone, never forget that one.

Yippeeee.....im bringing my new Digital SLR (stolen from the bloke at work for a snip of its value.....but don't feel bad for him, he's just bought a £2000 replacement, and he drives a 996 porker, a 5 series, a 3 series, and an sl600...)

I will also be bringing MY car this year - wooooo (see Pic)
