Title: Frustration - A new definition to the word. Post by: Chris24 on May 28, 2005, 02:45:37 am About 20 minutes drive from my home is a lorry testing facility
(Leyland Test Track) It occassionally hosts rally's and tomorrow it is the venue for "The Proflex Rally". Colin McRae is running his MK2 Escort (Red) as the course car and Alister McRae is running car 2, also a Mk2 Escort (Black). Now the frustrating bit, because it is a testing facility, there is no public access and it is over subscribed for marshalling. You can't even see over the fence ! I did go down there this evening and watched the cars arrive for scruteneering. I got Alister's autograph on his way in towing his mean looking Escort. Colin arrived in his helicopter about 2 minutes later. Regards Chris >:( Title: Re:Frustration - A new definition to the word. Post by: Chris24 on May 28, 2005, 02:51:03 am Colin's wee beastie

You could just buy a ticket and join the fun, couldn't you ??? Title: Re:Frustration - A new definition to the word. Post by: Chris24 on May 29, 2005, 02:40:24 am Paddy, what do you mean, buy a ticket. No public access means exactly that, no public access. To get in you had to be either a competitior, crew member , marshall or personel running the rally.
By all accounts, the McRae's where absolutely flying on the stages, but Alister had mechanical trouble and retired before the end of the event. Both Colin and Jimmy drove Colin's car so it was a family affair. Colin was litterally flying over the stages as he arrived at the venue in his helicopter. |
