Title: Free Tickets for Goodwood
Post by: Nobby Diesel on May 23, 2005, 11:43:53 am
If this has already been covered, sorry.
Yesterday, the times was offering free tickets to Goodwood FOS. All you have to do is register (and then wait to get bombarded by email rubbish). I think it's open for a few weeks yet.

Thanks for the tip Nobby, It seems to work - 4 tickets on their way. I hope it doesn’t rain, last time we went 98 I think, the heavens opened and we were sloshing around in ankle deep mud, great day though

Yep like all these things I didn't read the print so just fired off the request and then found out I should have changed my address BEFORE I sent in the  request.

Still I'm not so bothered now.

It must be my lucky day ! Last week, I ordered my Friday and Saturday tickets online, but the PC locked up when I pressed the confirm button. This meant I didn't know if the order had gone through or not and i didn't get any confirmation e mail either.

So I just rang the ticket line and they confirmed that they had recieved no order from me for tickets ! Excellent.

So I placed an order for the Saturady tickets and have the free Times tickets coming for the Friday and saved £40 ! ;D

Just a small question chaps, how would you have got them at all if not to your home or other valid address??

Well Smokie I think gave a made up address I gave my real address BUT have since moved house.  I did this so long ago I forgot I did it.

I went to register and found my prefered id was taken but it is quite unique. So I thought I'd try the forgotten password thing.   Sure enough I'd registered before.  So with my recovered password I asked for the tickets.  I then was presented with the screen  saying the tickets would be sent to the address I had registered.

A quick check revealed they had my old address.

Typical web site problem.  People don't read web sites.  Well not every word.  So you go to the  Goodwood page (http://driving.timesonline.co.uk/section/0,,20230,00.html)  looking for free tickes and it stands out more than the bit that says.

I don't suppose anyone has recieved their tickets yet? Are the ACO responsible for sending them out this year?

AZ,
Haven't seen mine yet.

does anyone know if they will be an e ticket or a real on in the post?

No not seen them yet either, but they are sent out by The Times and not by Goodwood, hence the not so effecient service in sending them. No need to worry just yet, leave it a week until the event to start to worry.

Working near to the company who are making the central display for toyota this year. It's rather impressive, looks like a couple of huge fishing rods. These had weights on, but i imagine they will have the Toyota f1 on when it's finally fitted.

I wonder what happened to their GT1 cars?

The only reason I've just thought of that is I've just found a freebee Toyota GT1 cap buried in the boot of the cobra from a previous LM.

At which point, realise that you are in Le-Mans and nothing else is further from your mind :D

Rhino and me have tickets for saturday, anyone else there on that day?
Apparently they have built a rally stage through the woods with spectator points, i will definately take a look at that.

There friday and saturday, only problem is the rally stage is near the top of the hill.  in 7 years of attending I haven't found the time to get up there yet !

I fear that the rally stage will have crap photo opportunities as it appears to be very narrow and lined with big hay bales like the main hill climb, except without the grass run off areas. Viewing and photography could be sh*t. >:(

One of the GTone cars was at the press launch for this years FoS. I expect on to be on display this year together with a TS010 from the early 90's as well.

I don't expect the tickets to be sent out until next week or the week after. cutting it a bit fine but the offer was not due to close until 19 June. It has closed now as all the tickets have gone.

Did everyone else get there tickets? only 2 turned here.

Looking forward to seeing some classic Le Mans Cars and proper F1 cars. Just hope the current crop of F1 cars can sort there tyres for the demanding hill and have left enough paddock space for the 917's, 956's & Can-Am  and other historic masterpieces.

If you see a guy looking a bit stressed trying to convince a pair of 4 year old girls with painted faces, that racing cars CAN be fun, it may be me.

Only two turned up here as well. Oh well, at least Teh Fat Lad and I are covered then!

Is there somewhere where we can arrange a small CA beverage at a pre-arranged time??

I've not been before so don't know the layout or form. Tickets say that the gates open at 7am. What time should we actually be looking to arrive? Is there any form of dress code for any of the areas (poo bar??)

Should we be taking our own cool box along with some cold beverages??

Where would you suggest we meet? Mobile wll be on!

We only got 2 as well, weather looks a bit dodgy for the afternoon, suggest 12ish at the bar closest to the Aston Martin stand or the actual AM stand to meet.

They normally have a verve cliquot champagne bar nr. to the house - this would be a good place.
I'm going Friday and Sunday  ;D

Mark,

Arrive early - this is a popular event - and with all these free tickets, is liable to be packed.

Dress Code - Wrong event mate - this one is wear what you like - the revival meeting is period costume....I can't decide whether i'd like to see you in this, or whether this would be highly disturbing!

Layout - One 3 odd mile hill climb - quicklest to the top wins - very narrow - no safety barriers - not suitable for F1 cars to run at speed - most of the more popular cars there for demonstration purposes. Fantastic Spectacle - needs to be seen to be believed.

Oh and theres a rally stage at the top i believe....

See you there.....
