La Marseillaise
French National Anthem
Let's go children of the fatherland,
The day of glory has arrived!
Against us tyranny's
Bloody flag is raised! (repeat)
In the countryside, do you hear
The roaring of these fierce soldiers?
They come right to our arms
To slit the throats of our sons, our friends!
Refrain
Grab your weapons, citizens!
Train your batallions!
Let us march! Let us march!
May impure blood
Water our fields!
Lets her it now

Sounds a lot better in French (especially the chorus), as we are going to be in that country, wouldn't it be better to learn the french version, if any.
-
if any.
Whilst I whole heartedly applaud the french for their hospitality and food I have no need to learn their or any other nation's anthem. I fail to see how it would in any way improve my Le Mans experience.
-
I thought it only fair that we should have some of the British National Anthem on the Forum, in French, but I think Babelfish is struggling with this again.
"Dieu économiser notre Reine aimable"
-
Unless they fluke LMP2, I can't see them playing the French National Anthem on the podium!! ;D ;D

Just in case TVR wins the GT2-class ;D
Russia - our sacred power! Russia - our dear country! Powerful will, great glory your dostoyan'e to all periods. (refrain)Be famous, the fatherland our free - fraternal peoples the union of age-long! By ancestors this wisdom is people. Be famous, the country, we be proud by you! Our forests and seas were stretched from the South seas to the polar edge. One you in the light, one you such, Khranimaya by god the native earth. (refrain)Be famous, the fatherland our free - fraternal peoples the union of age-long! By ancestors this wisdom is people. Be famous, the country, we be proud by you! The enormous space for the dream and for the life future to us open years. Our faithfulness to the fatherland gives forces to us - so it was, so there is and so it will be always! (refrain)Be famous, the fatherland our free - fraternal peoples the union of age-long! By ancestors this wisdom is people. Be famous, the country, we be proud by you!

ROFL ;D ;D ;D
Being serious, I'd rather learn the British nathional athem pretty sharpish. Good chances in LMP1, (LMP2 is out of the question, see above... so, learn French) a straight win in GT1 and a clear German national athem when they call for the GT2 podium I bet. ;D
-
@Paddy, will you be at Spa at the end of July ? DFH flag at Raidillon ???
-
I'd like to be as optimistic as you Hans Gerd, but I think the Champion Audis may have something to say about LMP1!!
LMP2 did make me chuckle last year when the only non French entrant won it (I think they were in fact the only LMP2 finishers)
GT1 will of course go to the mighty Astons :) I think this will definatley be the race to watch. The Corvettes are going to be back with a vengeance and I think this could go right to the wire!
GT2, Only one German team in the field! Even though there's a good chance a Porsche may win it! ;)
-
"Aux armes citoyens"
Think that is close but I have enough with "God saving Queens" and "On England's green and peasant..."
Nice of you to set us up for it though, jimmy.
Shall we slip into "Whales, whales, bloody great fish in the sea" and "Floooers of Scotland" too?
As you can see anthems arent my thang (and if you scan the Karaoke thread you will see that singing isn't either)
Pass the Stella someone!
:)

Hmm, tempting. Very tempting indeed :) If I would take my son, I'd probably get away with it.
You see, I'd like to go to the Silverstone and Nurburgring LMES-races aswell.
And we were supposed to go on Summer holiday as a family aswell (nothing planned yet).
The awnser has to come later. But I would like to see the MC12's this year!
-
Just to throw a spanner in the works!!!!
Surely if aston win it would be the american national anthem :o

I simply wait for the natural victory of the Audi France Oreca !!!
But I'm with you guys, If you don't need to pray so much for an Aston class victory, I pray with you and seriously would like to attend to the TVR class victory ... (and the flying pigs of JPC!!!)

The missus sounds positive. And I'm more positive too, especially as I told her it was another 24hr race and she immediately understood it would be a no-go for our 5-year old :)
She was willing to negotiate about Silverstone ;D
-
I see you have married the right woman then. :) With 5 years it's about time your son gets vaccinated. ;D

Ofcourse, she's English! ;D

I took him to Magny Cours when he was two years old, but that race lasted only 90 minutes (and the wrong team won, again >:( )
To be honoust, a 24 hr race might just be that little too much for now ::)
-
Paddy I think taking him is OK... as long as he doesn't wear a cassock and sing "we're walking in the Aire! ;D

Wasn't it Tertre Rouge where the big Karaoke session was being advertised?? We'll have to make sure they have the CD!!!! ;D ;D ;D

An alternative version of La Marseillaise
A Frenchman went to the lavatory
for to have a ruddy big sh*t, sh*t, sh*t
he pulled his pants and trousers down
so that he could revel in it, it, it
But when he reached for the paper
he found that someone had been there before
Ou est le papier?
Ou est le papier?
Monsieur, Monsieur avez manure
Ou est le papier?

I just hope the've learnt to sing better than last year.
May just have to nab them for entertainment tax otherwise!
