Title: french moped insurance
Post by: matchlesspat on May 16, 2005, 09:50:26 pm
Hi Gilles, what are the chances of getting insurance for a 14 year old to ride a 49cc moped in France? I expect the lack of a French address and French ID will be a major problem? I am just trying to do it the right way, (for a change) thanks,  Pat

yes sorry about moped boy, he is 14 on the 14th June and very excited about this trip to LM, his third, he usually has his birthday when I am there, nearly his birth, I think the race was late that year! has been the cause of a few discusions over the years, his birthday being the race week, anyone care to guess the date for next years race? I have been invited to a wedding on the 17th June 2006!!!!!!! bugger,

   Pat

Aha... I wondered if we knew his dad...

I have one whose birthday is 18th June. When I capable of remembering, I raise a glass (well, usually a bottle) to her.

Hasn't happened often  ::)

We forgive you Matchlesspat, But I wonder if the race next year might not slip back into it's usual slot.
It is a week later this year than we (and the ACO) expected after all, so may be it'll be earlier, but 10th/11th June
seems a bit early dunnit?

Fingers crossed!

This might be something only a genuine french person can answer - and i havent seen Gilles online so much recently.

Have you tried enquiring of someone like the AA or RAC - they may possibly have some info thats of some use to you - i know they deal with some sorts of european travel advice etc?

Cant really think of any other usefull suggestions.

As far as I am aware, you need a license to get insurance, and be resident in the country you wish to be insured in!

I get quite a bit of Flak at the station because of my model looks, but I don't need any extra form of protection!  ;)

Watch out for that dodgy copper.  He tried to close down my chip oil recycling facility.  The chip van runs okay on it but the exhaust is a bit smokey.

Anyway, I've got a traders policy for the chip van and the trailer, and I occasionly strap the boat to the roof so that I can toss my hook and try for a battered sausage or two.  The Irish Sea is very pleasant at this time of the year.

I've considered fitting out a moped with a sidecar with a chip fryer in it so that I can tour around the campsites to bring my fine marine produce to the happy campers.

If you can answer the question of who moderates the moderators, then a degree in philosophy is yours for the taking.
