If it's your first year, take anything you can get - MB is great but you will enjoy it from anywhwere (yes, including Beausejour) Title: Re:Maison Blanche Ticket Wanted Post by: LeMansVirgin on April 24, 2005, 07:03:43 pm ;) Ok I'm sussed, not only am a i a Le Mans Virgin, but i'm also pretty new to this Forum Lark :-\ I'm gradually reading my way through the whole site and getting the idea though, and it appears that Le Mans is indeed the the place to be this summer - especially for us 30 somethings. I dont get let out that often so a camping ticket will definately get me jumping for joy ;D Ive got the diesel ordered, the Barbies in the boot, the beers cheap and the tent..... (well the tent is just a dream at the moment - i must remember to ask my uncle) i just wished that my friends would think up these ideas before the tickets are sold. I hear what your saying about just being there so i will definately keep my options we and truly open. Many thanks Peoples ;) heres a piccy (i'm the Blue One)(http://)
Title: Re:Maison Blanche Ticket Wanted Post by: Fran on April 24, 2005, 07:46:28 pm LOL - there u go Virgin - you stand a much better chance of getting a ticket if you sound like a suitable candidate for inviting to the party. If your friends cant organise it properly get in there n do it yerself... i am sure you will be able to get a camping ticket and any other advice you need will be willing given in the forums.

BTW, a Houx annexe ticket has just gone for £175 on E ***, thats crazy money. Good luck with the ticket. Brian. Title: Re:Maison Blanche Ticket Wanted Post by: LeMansVirgin on April 24, 2005, 09:09:31 pm Cheers all,
Brian - are you saying that there actually motor racing going on there ASWELL? what a bonus :D this weekend trip is sounding Betterer and betterer. PS I'm looking for tips as to the best beverage for beer mountaining? Title: Re:Maison Blanche Ticket Wanted Post by: Fran on April 24, 2005, 09:15:22 pm I think that as a novice you really ought to start off with the standard french beer stubbie.... tho the more experienced (and reckless) seems to be talking about progressing onto wine box pyramids this year :o
F Title: Re:Maison Blanche Ticket Wanted Post by: jpchenet on April 25, 2005, 12:09:40 am Ah yes, but which stubbie????
The classic Stella bottle is flat sided, whereas the slighly cheaper Kronenbourg bottle, whilst although a similar ABV, has a bottle that is slightly curved in profile and therefore not ideal for mountaineering! Title: Re:Maison Blanche Ticket Wanted Post by: Brian(Liverpool boys) on April 25, 2005, 12:20:54 am LMV, call in at The Liverpool Boys site on MB, take a few low flyers and any mole hill will be climbable.

Brian Which night do they fly this year Brian?? Monday onwards would be good!! :) Title: Re:Maison Blanche Ticket Wanted Post by: Snoring Rhino on April 25, 2005, 01:01:09 am There are 5 tickets on that nasty site 2 for MB - wait untill more tickets actually land should yeild a few more spares and more on the market hence lower price.
Title: Re:Maison Blanche Ticket Wanted Post by: Fran on April 25, 2005, 08:42:55 am I see your point JPC, i am not sure about the technicalities of possible brewing under licence, but i dont really consider Kronenbourg to be a French stubbie.....tho i am prepared to be proved wrong. What i had in mind for City N Guilds Level 1 beer wall building was something along the lines of the "33" beer bottle - a design classic in my opinion tho slighly more difficult to keep a grip on when wet compared against the contoured bottle.
The beer mountain website has some good pointers too and some great pics of guys with choppers. (if u like that sort of thing) F Title: Re:Maison Blanche Ticket Wanted Post by: BigH on April 25, 2005, 09:29:33 am I agree about the 33's Fran.
It's not the best bottled beer at the supermarket, but for many years it was just about the only one, that's if you don't count the dark beers. And they can be hard to count on a good day. So they get my vote purely on traditional grounds. I'm afraid building beermountains has always proved far too dexterous for us, what with the hand-eye co-ordination and opposable thumb requirements. Sometimes it's just about all we can do to drink the damn things, although we did try and build a beer mountain out of the lads one year. Some of them got a bit carried away if you ask me, and we've never tried it again. I believe Mr Toad will be delivering several Masterclass sessions at a very reasonable price. Andy Zarse is holding lectures on Bushcraft. (or is it Pidgeon?) Is anyone elses car in pieces? After a nasty incident on the M1 a couple of months ago I started with a bolt or two and now the whole machine seems to have been reduced to components. I'm starting to get a bit concerned now... Fran, until a few years ago, Kronenbourg brewed for bottles came entirely from Strasbourg. It wasn't until a deal was struck (by I believe Scottish and Newcastle) in about the mid 90's, that they started to bottle it over in the UK under licence. I should point out that all the Kronenbourg you find in LM IS French. Brewed and bottled ;D. It is for this reason, it is so much nicer than the crud we get in the UK. I can vouch for this, because I used to work in the licenced trade, and although I would not touch the draft crap, I was always partial to a bottle of Kronenborg, until they went and screwed it up >:( Title: Re:Maison Blanche Ticket Wanted Post by: LeMansVirgin on April 25, 2005, 05:27:02 pm I am abit partial to the Kronenbourg myself and have noticed its abundance in Calais hypermarkets, so i think this may be the way to go. although cans are lighter, easier to Mount and hold more so any more thoughts/ideas greatly appreciated?
I have booked the ferry now for very early friday morning, bit late judging by some of the posts here i know but work and all that.( Just that elusive ticket now) but I'm looking at Eburgers regually as well as keeping in with you guys. I'm getting alittle excited now - but try not to show it in front of the missus ;D still trying to make it look like i'm just going to make up the numbers and do the Lads a favour :D Title: Re:Maison Blanche Ticket Wanted Post by: DelBoy on April 25, 2005, 06:44:02 pm .... slighly more difficult to keep a grip on when wet compared against the contoured bottle....... F Try one of these Fran - doesn't warm the beer and doesn't cool your hand. The beer carrier is attached to the glove bit. Needless to say, I will NOT be putting a Fosters can or bottle in it! F Title: Re:Maison Blanche Ticket Wanted Post by: Fran on April 25, 2005, 08:40:56 pm Cans for a beer wall :o - radical dude! Tho that may be compromising taste for construction-ability.... not that keen on the flavour of canned beer personally. Then again.......after the first half dozen or so ... what the heck.

We collected dozens from everywhere we went in Australia and New Zealand back in 2000/2001 and I think they could be an excellent idea for Le Mans (if the beers last long enough to get warm of course!!) Title: Re:Maison Blanche Ticket Wanted Post by: Paddy_NL on April 27, 2005, 01:32:45 am Quote (if the beers last long enough to get warm of course!!) well, if the can is small enough...now how 'bout that lettering, anything worked out yet, jpc?? Title: Re:Maison Blanche Ticket Wanted Post by: Mr Toad on April 27, 2005, 07:19:50 pm Mr Invisible - the "crud" you refer to in the UK pays my pension, as I work for said brewer ;)
PS Mountain materclasses probably free to CA members...until we run out of beer - will sort out an invitation "system" Title: Re:Maison Blanche Ticket Wanted Post by: BigH on April 27, 2005, 07:49:50 pm Quote as I work for said brewer Then you've a lot to answer for Mr. T. Thanks to the skill and craftsmanship of the employees of S&N I have been disowned by family, banished to far away lands and I predict having my life expectancy severely shortened. |
