Title: Hunaudieres, worth a visit?
Post by: Dobbo on April 11, 2005, 04:05:21 pm
I know this place has a legendary status but I’ve never managed a visit. Is it worth it?
Is it best to just rock up and enjoy the atmosphere or try and book a table in advance. (I’m guessing that is pretty damn hard?) Can you get a decent view of the track from there?

Used to be fantastic Dobbo - cars flashing by the window as you ate and drank, barriers have messed it up now though.

I wish I'd have started going years earlier! I've read through the links above (cheers Steve), and it sounds like its all corporate now anyway (?) I'm gonna book myself a table at the chinky next door for wed night practice. It sounds decent enough.

I last had a meal at the chinky there in 1999.  It was good food althou a bit of a convey belt service as the place was full.
Don't try to hold a conversation during the racing - you won't hear yourself  :D

Viewing is poor now as there is green cloth covered metal screening inside the armco - although there is small gaps and five bar gates to climb on.

Nice one. I reckon I'll try and get there about 9, thats when they have a break in the practice right? Then I'll get my fill of spare ribs in before the start of the second session  :)

The police arent as hot on practice nights. You can usually get closer on those nights.
I mean the track not the police(although you could try)

Most certainly yes.  We had a very pleasant drive out on the Saturday PQ's weekend last year.  The Maserati club of GB were visiting and had blocked booked the whole resttaurant but we still managed to get a table.  The food was very good.

Here is a shot from the inside.

Huh, look at that picture, typical Maserati drivers, no dress sense at all  :D ;D

The collection of old Masser's was good to see, proper GT's in those days. :o
