Title: Beausjour = Petrol Scooter? Post by: smuudge on April 06, 2005, 12:05:32 am Because we are all lazy gits and are concerned about the distance we have to walk to civilisation from the Beausjour Campsite I was wondering if its worth buying a cheap petrol scooter off of Ebay for our weeks excursion to Le Mans. your wisdom is much appreciated. Cheers!
Title: Re:Beausjour = Petrol Scooter? Post by: jpchenet on April 06, 2005, 01:05:43 am I believe there is a free shuttle bus service, but I am not sure how many there are or how often they run.
For your own independance, a petrol scooter would sound like a good idea, but as to the practicality of trying to ride it home from the 'poo bar or how to secure it when you walk around in the village I don't know! Cheers! HI Smuudge,I would suggest a bicycle is proabably the best choice I have been fortunate to have had the use of one in the past. A bicycle can be ridden in areas a scooter would require a pass. bring a chain and lock Canada Phil Title: Re:Beausjour = Petrol Scooter? Post by: SIMONR on April 06, 2005, 01:51:35 pm Little petrol gopeds are well worth taking down with you. Last year we did miles and miles on them...
To and from Arnage for food/beer, a few laps of the track, into town for the drivers parade on Friday (even joined in with the bikers at the end of the parade). Made it back okay too ;) If you get one though, buy a bottle to threadlock and lock all the things that can vibrate loose, otherwise they will fall off! I remember having to change (read bodge) the front wheel bearing on the grass verge at Indianapolis last year. As for locking them up, we over looked that at the planning stage. When we took them down to the grandstand at the end of the race we left them outside cabletied to the railings, they were still their a few hours later. This year we have a Merc Sprinter coming down full of them! Simon Title: Re:Beausjour = Petrol Scooter? Post by: smuudge on April 06, 2005, 03:09:39 pm Canada Phil you mentioned a bicycle can be ridden in areas a scooter would require a pass. You need a pass to ride a motorised scooter around Le Mans??
And Simon, did you actually get away with riding them into Le Mans on Friday night!? We are talking about the same 'Road Illegal' 33cc things arent we!? Cheers clubbers. Title: Re:Beausjour = Petrol Scooter? Post by: SIMONR on April 06, 2005, 03:19:49 pm Yep, road illegal ;D scooters.
We had no real problem rideing around on them. We got stopped a couple of times by the police. Once was coming back from the drivers parade, all they were worried about was us riding on the road without a crash hat on... we just carried on riding back on the pavement ;) The second time we got stopped was riding around the track after it had been closed off to cars! http://www.simonranson.com/gallery/displayimage.php?album=26&pos=5 (http://www.simonranson.com/gallery/displayimage.php?album=26&pos=5) We got the train from Arnage into Le Mans for the drivers parade, but 'scootered' back. Generally the old bill don't mind you riding around on the road during the day, and at night you are fine in slow traffic, but stick to the pavement in the town centre ;) Simon Title: Re:Beausjour = Petrol Scooter? Post by: Jem on April 08, 2005, 08:35:37 pm Smuudge, flog the Beaseajour tickets on this forum and then buy some off this forum on a site closer to the action. Go for MB, Houx or Houx Annexe.
Beasejour is absolutely miles away from the action, honest. Then you can use the money you would spend on the mopeds at the Champagne bar. Jem Title: Re:Beausjour = Petrol Scooter? Post by: smuudge on April 09, 2005, 01:22:03 am Well ive bought one now! If anyones got any camping tickets going spare i am interested. Seriously though, it wont be difficult to make the most of the site we have been allocated, and look forward to bumping into a few clubbers while we are there....thanks

Just finished a few mins ago, the vinyls were cheaper than a paint job and much quicker. Free and 5 mins. Deleted my picture as the upload folder is full and my scooter can be seen hosted on my web space. Title: Re:Beausjour = Petrol Scooter? Post by: pretzel on April 09, 2005, 11:21:16 pm Mmmm... Title: Re:Beausjour = Petrol Scooter? Post by: Gilles on April 12, 2005, 08:57:31 am To access inside the circuitr You'll need specific pass for your scooter and you'll also need to wear an helmet.
if yoi don't wear one, the ACo marshalls are authorized to remove your scooter pass... >:( Title: Re:Beausjour = Petrol Scooter? Post by: 24hourman on April 12, 2005, 11:56:51 am And here is my little paddock transportation for this year 1/3rd size
Title: Re:Beausjour = Petrol Scooter? Post by: Tonytiger on April 14, 2005, 01:59:42 pm With regards to scooters inside the circuit.
Is this a new thing for 2005 as we had no problem last year and we had no helmets. The only time was after the race going around the track and we stop by the the Feds. >:(He pulled the spark plugs out so the wouldn't run. Title: Re:Beausjour = Petrol Scooter? Post by: stuey on April 14, 2005, 02:28:01 pm 1/3rd size? It appears 3 inches long on my screen.
You must be tiny ::) Title: Re:Beausjour = Petrol Scooter? Post by: Gilles on April 14, 2005, 03:09:01 pm With regards to scooters inside the circuit. It was a new thing in 2004 and some of our clients have a few problems... ... the others had helmets !!! But as long as you don't drive outside the circuit, you may only need a bycicle or skateboard helmet. Title: Re:Beausjour = Petrol Scooter? Post by: Lorry on April 20, 2005, 03:11:16 pm Got in at last
Everyone and his dog will have gopeds this year. We've just bought six, and heard the comment "not another Le Mans team". Tally Ho! Title: Re:Beausjour = Petrol Scooter? Post by: Truckosaurus on April 20, 2005, 03:14:06 pm To Truck.
Welcome to CA. From Truck. ps. Where's the best place to procure a go-ped these days. What sort of £££ are we looking at? Title: Re:Beausjour = Petrol Scooter? You could try speaking to the voices in the radiator, the same ones that tell me to kill kill kill. Title: Re:Beausjour = Petrol Scooter? Post by: Bob U on April 20, 2005, 04:15:00 pm Andy,
I poke badgers with spoons? ??? :-\ Title: Re:Beausjour = Petrol Scooter? Post by: Andy Zarse on April 20, 2005, 04:23:44 pm Yes Bob, I do. It's a blameless pleasure really.
Title: Re:Beausjour = Petrol Scooter? Post by: Bob U on April 20, 2005, 04:48:24 pm Well, I presume that as long as no dogs are used to persue the badger beforehand then it must all be legal and above board.
It's does my heart good to know that you are trying to keep Olde English customs alive in the 21st century. I always thought that bear-baiting and cock fighting would be an exccellant way to spend a Sunday afternoon as an alternative to watching Formula 1. Title: Re:Beausjour = Petrol Scooter? Post by: Chris (Liverpool Boys) on April 20, 2005, 06:07:34 pm as long as you are baiting the bear with a certain little poison dwarf BE?? ;D

What sort of £££ are we looking at? Research ebay (search petrol scooter) under "buy it now" and you'll find the dealers. There seem to be about 4 different models, plus mini harley £120 -150 should get you a good one. Try theinternetbikeshop at Watford, especially if you're scared to go further north. Postage is another £20, so it may be worth a trip Schizo? If I could find my previous login, it had a picture of a dinosaur on it. There really are two of me. Title: Re:Beausjour = Petrol Scooter? Not too sure about this scooter lark, I can see it ending in tears. Title: Re:Beausjour = Petrol Scooter? Post by: nick12dmc on April 20, 2005, 07:58:36 pm We saw one of those mini sportsbikes at a car show last year.
As the show was held in a field it was great sport watching them do a endo when they hit a rabbit hole! and eat grass! ;D This may make a good diversion if there is a slow bit in the race with the safety car. Nick H |
