Title: John Tojeiro has died
Post by: Steve Pyro on March 31, 2005, 03:59:48 pm

I have just heard that John Tojeiro has passed away, at the age of 81.
Tojeiro was very much in the forefront of sportscar design in his day, being responsible for a number of 'special' Le Mans cars such as the Tojeiro Jaguars and having developed the early AC Ace - Bristol.  Those at the 2004 Classic would have seen a number of these cars race.

Also, on a more personal note, he served for a time as consultant to Dax (DJ Sportscars) and lent his name to their cobra replica, the Dax Tojeiro.  My cobra is a Dax.

Having built a Dax Tojeiro in the past, this is sad news indeed. My sentiments go to all involved.

I haven't built one yet, but having admired Steve's car and several others, my condolences to his family and friends.
A Dax is a probable future project because Gwyn loves them...

Hi Steve,
Did you see the Tojeiro Jag on display in the paddock at Sebring? First time I ever saw one and unfortunately no explanation board with it.

Yes, and a marvellous curvy shape it is too.  Very much like the Lister Jaguars / Lister Chevrolets of that period.
