Title: Petit Le Mans anyone? Post by: Fax on March 23, 2005, 06:10:58 pm Afternoon Guys,
Great Sebring anecdotes and pics by all. Steve, I'm still surfing through your catalog. To all those who weren't there, all of the pics were taken from the spectator areas. No media creds needed to to get those beauties. Just a thought, I know this is early days but if you boys enjoyed Sebring, you may want to think about catching the Petit Le Mans in October as well. Same fun loving, beer drinking, friendly envirement....and the views from the spectator enclosures are even better! The north Georgia autumn weather is usually lovely and Road Atlanta is just a brilliant circut, would probably remind alot of you of the GP circut at Brands Hatch. Probably some dirt cheap flights into Atlanta available this early. I know the Amercian CA crew would love to hang with you guys again in the fall. Fax Title: Re:Petit Le Mans anyone? Title: Re:Petit Le Mans anyone? Post by: gab on March 23, 2005, 06:37:05 pm Hi Fax,
Glad to of met you, sorry it was only a handshake and could not hang out longer with you and the Harper bros. I had a great time at Sebring it certainly is made for the spectator. As for your Petit LeMans offer I can`t answer for the rest of the CA gang, but I have already started planning with Pidge for 2006. Unfortunately the bank old account won`t support a third race week after Sebring and LeMans this year. Through the Pidge gang I have been updated on Road Atlanta and can hardly believe that there are even better spectator viewing areas than at Sebring....man are you guys got it good! I know it`s quite awhile away but the seed has been planted just needs some time to grow. See you then. Title: Re:Petit Le Mans anyone? Post by: smokie on March 23, 2005, 07:23:15 pm I decided on the flight home that I don't want to work any more, and I want to follow motor races and other exciting events all year instead.
For some reason, Mrs S didn't fully agree. So, not for me. Not this year anyway ;) Title: Re:Petit Le Mans anyone? Post by: Snoring Rhino on March 23, 2005, 08:52:21 pm Hum, interesting might even qwell my envy of the Sebring boys!
Title: Re:Petit Le Mans anyone? Post by: Paddy_NL on March 23, 2005, 08:55:01 pm I was surprised by the Sebring Race. Looked really good from here.
All together I'm still pretty new to this game, wait and see what PLM will bring. As I'm visiting Spa and LeMans this year (and the Masters in Holland), maybe I'll try Sebring or Petit next year. Don't really want to push my luck on the missus, she ain't too happy me arranging DfH anyway ;) Title: Re:Petit Le Mans anyone? Post by: RichUK on March 23, 2005, 11:47:56 pm Do you think excessive motor racing viewing could be a reason for divorce? :o
However MrsUK hails from that side of the pond, so she might sanction a trip home via Georgia. 8) Title: Re:Petit Le Mans anyone? Post by: Paddy_NL on March 24, 2005, 12:01:47 am Do you think excessive motor racing viewing could be a reason for divorce? :o Oh yes, absolutely. Especially since I dared to take her to the French GP in '02, where she started to complain about the noise within half an hour after the start.Last week I took a subscribtion to MotorsTV, no sympathy there either :( Title: Re:Petit Le Mans anyone? Post by: RichUK on March 24, 2005, 12:07:04 am The end might be nigh ;)
Title: Re:Petit Le Mans anyone? Post by: Paddy_NL on March 24, 2005, 12:10:55 am Can't get worse than football though, or not? :-[
Title: Re:Petit Le Mans anyone? Post by: smokie on March 24, 2005, 12:14:16 am When I told Mrs S that I talked with Johnny H and Alan McN at last year's LM, she was keen to do the same.
So I have arranged that we will go to pre-quals. So what happens? Little Johnny doesn't have a drive this year. And when I spoke to Alan on Saturday (....namedropping again.... :)) he won't be there either... I offered her Stephan Ortelli or Ron Fellowes but she now thinks we should go someplace else for the pre-q weekend... Title: Re:Petit Le Mans anyone? Post by: Chris24 on March 24, 2005, 12:47:29 am How about Darren Turner or David Brabham as alternatives, both are really nice blokes. Turner is English and Brabs might as well be as he lives here.

Oh no, Smokie you have to go, if only to collect our tickets. Does Mrs S, not know of our deal. Brian. Title: Re:Petit Le Mans anyone? Post by: smokie on March 24, 2005, 11:25:06 am No, and I'd forgotten too!!!
Better remind me nearer the time...I think she wil be persuaded to go... ;) Title: Re:Petit Le Mans anyone? Post by: Brian(Liverpool boys) on March 24, 2005, 11:37:13 am Smokie, if you e mail me your address or a fax number I will forward you our receipt. Looks as though you all enjoyed Sebring, I was green with envy, maybe next year I may join you if Henry will let me retire.

Hmmmm!!!! Could be interesting. If Andy and I start this import thing we'd have a very valid reason to be over there too!! Title: Re:Petit Le Mans anyone? Title: Re:Petit Le Mans anyone? Post by: Dave H on March 24, 2005, 10:22:19 pm You can see all of us non-Le Mans 05 folks are instigating trouble with tempting suggestions for other events.
I too will be at RA again in October. Last time I flew from vacation in Colorado for the weekend and met-up with Fax and Matt (who had to depart for a blow-job of some variety). I was back in Colorado on Sunday afternoon, but needless to say it wasn't optimal. With a bit better planning Fax, we can make this the swansong trip for my Porker as I'll launch it in Spring of 06. However, having just driven through the Smokies in the Putley Creech Land Yacht yesterday, I suspect our lower backs will be hurting after that trip, no matter what velocity we chose. Hi Amazing1, Thanks for your kind hospitality. Best wedding I have ever been to ;D I see you are more than just a Sebring party animal. Sorry I missed your autograph session, I was at the Green Park Cows Autograph session instead. What a hoot!Hope all CA members can attend ! ;D Road Atlanta is a great track and the Petit is an obvious choice to attend. Canada Phil Title: Re:Petit Le Mans anyone? Post by: Fax on March 25, 2005, 06:03:00 pm Hi GAB,
Was good to finally meet you, as you said it was only for a handshake and hello, so many new faces and things to see! We'll have plenty of other opportunties to shoot the breeze I'm sure. Yes Road Atlanta is an even better spectating venue. The rolling north Georgia hills make excellent natural amphitheater veiwing and the layout of the circut itself is fast and flowing, the drivers love it Allan McNish once saying it was his favorite of all. I have an important mmeeting on the 28th September so couldn't fly out until the 29th. But sorely tempted!!
Zarse, shall we make it a trip to collect a motorhome?? Title: Re:Petit Le Mans anyone? Post by: Matt Harper on April 07, 2005, 10:02:42 pm Direct flight with Delta is currently £282. I have an important mmeeting on the 28th September so couldn't fly out until the 29th. But sorely tempted!! Zarse, shall we make it a trip to collect a motorhome?? The Petit is indeed well worth the trip. A somwhat different atmosphere than Sebring - or Le Mans - historically it was very much a 'wind-down' at the end of the ALMS season (that role has now moved to California) but it is an awesome event, nonetheless. The circuit is waaaaaay superior to Hendrick Field and you get even closer to the action. Climate is perfect also. Mark/Andy - a suggestion. Knowing you both as I now do - and you being JLU's - please consider this invitation to my home in O'town prior to the event and then a shared drive up to Atlanta in Truckosaurus. If you haven't been, Atlanta is a FUN place. Overnight in Buckhead (northern 'burb, which is Partytown USA) meeting with Dave, Fax and a few others and hit the track on Saturday morning. Leisurely drive back down 75 on Sunday after the race. Last year my Road Atlanta trip was curtailed somewhat by Hurricane Jeanne - so I intend to beat the tar out of the event this year. Consider this a formal invite - and I will be highly offended if you decline (no pressure or anything, you understand). Seriously - I mean it, if you'd like to come over again. Regards Fatty Title: Re:Petit Le Mans anyone? Post by: Andy Zarse on April 08, 2005, 06:09:11 pm Matt, thanks for the kind invite, it's much appreciated. I'd love to commit to it right now but I kinda been spanking the ass out the old holiday allowance recently. Seem to have had a holiday every other month recently. Have trips planned to Vegas or Dubai and also Antigua already on the cards this year. Can I squeeze in a cheeky weekend in Atlanta? You betcha!
ps what's a JLU? Title: Re:Petit Le Mans anyone? Post by: Fax on April 08, 2005, 06:28:34 pm Hi Andy,
I'm guessing its "Just Like Us" but could be wrong. Gotta make this quick before the internet Nazi's here at work get me but it would be great if you guys could make it over for the Petit, as we've beaten into the ground before, its just a terrific event, laid back atmosphere, great autumn weather and a brilliant venue. All in all a very nice way to say goodbye to summer. Fax Title: Re:Petit Le Mans anyone? Post by: Andy Zarse on April 08, 2005, 06:45:21 pm Hi Andy, I'm guessing its "Just Like Us" but could be wrong. Hi Fax, that's what I thought but knowing Matt it might have been something a little less obvious. Like Jism Luvvin' Uvula or something. Watch out for those Nazi's! Title: Re:Petit Le Mans anyone? Post by: Matt Harper on April 08, 2005, 09:48:50 pm Jism Luvvin' Uvula That is f**k*ng hilarious! S'cuse me while I wipe my snot off the monitor! |
