Title: Who, when, where. Post by: Abs on March 23, 2005, 05:56:32 pm Seems about time to get things moving on the travel plans of different groups.

Title: Re:Who, when, where. Post by: Paddy_NL on March 23, 2005, 08:48:50 pm The three of us (Crew) will be arriving Sunday eavening 12th of June, only to queue up (I hope) in front of the gate for opening Mondaymorning. I understood maybe I have to try and defend some space for jpchenet aswell, but that strategy is still undecided.
Rest of our team should get there in small groups, some Monday, a lot on Wednesday and the remains on Friday. They all come in their own vehicle, no problems with ferries as we're all continental. All together a group of 27 at the moment. Might be a few more, might be a few less. For some of them it's still far away, while I'm running out of time. We'll all be leaving Monday morning the 20th of June. Leaving for LM-MB early Fridaymorning this Easter weekend for scouting and latest pics. Expect picture results by Sunday in my topic here at GD. Any requests in that topic or via PM. I'll have a print of that topic and see what I can do. According to Robbo's site only 86 days to go. Bloody hell, better get started after Easter!! :) Title: Re:Who, when, where. Post by: Bobblehat on March 23, 2005, 08:54:04 pm Bobblehat Racing are doing the following

Our group has gathered more strength this year and should hit 70 even though we have lost a few of our regulars ( till next year boys). T shirt sales will be strong and presence overwhelming. Theme this year will be a tribute to Ben's brother Matt ( Jarvo Red 2), Harrier and Red Arrow pilot who sadly lost his fight for life against cancer last week at the age of 30. Attending will be 18 motors varying from Morgans, Ferraris and Astons to the ridiculous ( Rex ?!), 8 plus bikes, 2 Winne's, White van support/friday transport vehicle and 1 professional chef, Leon the swearing Dutchman. Securing the real estate for this lot is going to be interesting to say the least, keeping it will be easy. Usual festivities in the Square on Friday with Simon and the Lambo boys, Arnage and back at base camp for the Brethren Soiree in the evening for some fine sounds ( provided courtesy of Fat Boy Fat), fireworks, dancing, falling over, 'Vagrant Elvis' and the infamous 'Chili Challenge', oh, and I'm sure Trayboy will be exposing himself at some point. All welcome. Saturday, brekkers Arnage, Champ bar at 12, and again in the evening. Oh yeah, watch some racing, helicopter rides and the Funfair (hooray). Sunday pm off to jolly old Rouen for a few pints off Guinness in O'Kallaghans (see you there Nobby) and some fine scoff. Return via the tunnel after a visit to the war graves and some seafood in Le Touquet. See you all there chaps. Rusty 8) Title: Re:Who, when, where. I'm trying not to think about the hangovers :-X guess the only way is to carry on straight through and worry about feeling bad on the Monday!!!

Post by: Lazy B'stard on March 30, 2005, 12:36:06 pm This year setting off from North East late on Wednesday collecting the lads on the way down, sunrise at Stonehenge (its close enough to mid summer this year- the hippies and wierdos that hang around at that time of year are a sight worth a short detour!) and the early Thursday morning crossing from Poole to Cherbourg.
Camping is on Bleu again. Will miss parade this year for a day swimming in the Loire or something along those lines. Hog roast on Friday night, race Sat and Sun, overnight ferry Caen to pompey and home for lunch to plan for 2006! No exotic machinery again this year-Merc V-class will carry more stuff and gets the nod again. Will wheel out something better for the classic'06 Title: Re:Who, when, where. Dover -> Dunkerque on Norfolkline, Sun 12 June @ 10:00 Dunkerque -> Dover, Sun 19 June @ 19:30 (yes, I'll have to miss the end of the race...) I booked it in Jan. P&O Dover-Calais were a massive £320, Norfolkline was just £180. P&O have now re-priced and similar crossing would be £152. But Norfolkline won't refund anything...so P&O lost business by their lethargy and I have an extra 25 - 30 miles each way as a result. :-\ Arriving Maison Blanche, and aiming for the Golden Triangle during Sunday evening. Can't wait! 8) 8) Title: Re:Who, when, where. Post by: Martini...LB on March 31, 2005, 10:12:19 pm Hi Just a novice at this gang but have been going to LM since '85.
Travelling from Guernsey in the Channel Islands, this year with my Brother Babbling Pastis Man..trust me he does, finally got him away from Mobike LM. Anyway are there any forum members from Guernsey? Great babble guys, been reading daily, - you are so lucky having been to Sebring. .......anyway travelling from Guernsey to St Malo on wed 15, bbq and wine/vodka, thurs big breakfast and late lunch then qualy, big Brek early lunch and then get totally arsxd on friday in the Globe bar LM and sleeping through the sat morning race! well that is what I have done the last three years but what the heck. Perhaps I am in too much of a routine!! Have actually been by myself for the last 3 years, no not sad, just wanted a break and be able to do what and when I wanted. Happy LM to all M. Post by: Perdu on April 02, 2005, 12:53:43 am OK then my lot, should call ourselves TeamAA@LeMans or something. At least 6 of us are AAMen, don't hold that against us.do we not drink eat and fart like everyone else? Ask Steve he slept in the next camping site to us last year at Houx Annexe...
We are travelling doen in two waves this year: My Midget with John as co-pilot Terry in his Jag. Dave is his Co-pilot John in his porker, not sure if John has a passenger yet! We travel (as mentioned earlier) to get the 11.15 Speedferries on Wednesday at some godforsaken time, to get us from Brum to Dover. Then on Thursday our backup crew with the gazebos and pool will come across from Dover. Stuart will be assisted by Nick in the V8 Moggy traveller (Stu's Audi estate is back up vehicle, on a "just in case" basis. Rob and Stu's cousin in another Audi est (cannot have too many carrefour beer shuttles I say!) Sean will be in an unspecified as yet, armoured assault vehicle to clobber the itinerant beach buggy soaking crew that tried hard but failed to totally soak us last year. I still harbour resentment at having my best yet LeMansBurger soaked to its little skin last time. Revenge will be sweet, so will the extra strong pickle on the burger. I hope Steve will save us a piece near him again. We will be a ferry behind you Steve... Bill 8) Title: Re:Who, when, where. Post by: Russ on April 26, 2005, 06:53:57 pm Team 'Spinnit' as we call ourselves for some reason, will hopefully get together in Pompy ready for the Wednesday evening boat to St. Malo.
We meet at Jon's in Southsea and load up the campervan like we're the A-team on a mission. Nobody gets killed, but we make some interesting things from an old barn and a lawn mower... Jon (I know about some cars and enjoy the racing) - 4th year Gaz (I provide a camper van but somebody else can drive this time) - 4th year Rus (The Ticket master! If it wasn't for me... you'd have to sort your own tickets...like you did last year) - 3rd Year Lindsay (The puppet master & Chef) - 3rd Year Mike (Beard face & card counter...appears as if from nowhere from a cloud of Malborough smoke) - 4th Year Now credit where credit due... sometimes Mike can be on time, and seeing as he holds the ferry tickets, there's always nervous tension as we approach the big day! We practice the ancient art of getting a puncture on the way to Le Sarthe pretty much every year, so we hope to get to HA by mid afternoon on Thursday. Not only does Gaz provide 1st class transport, but also all the camping gear, extra tents and relaxed 'can do' attitude. Then Cherborg to Pompy on Monday ar-a-noon. 1 palace on wheels and 5 mountain bikes if you please. We don't use the mountain bikes until we get there though. That would just be silly. Title: Re:Who, when, where. Post by: Lancs Se7en on April 27, 2005, 01:17:31 pm LADS (Lancashire & District Sevens) will be departing as follows

A few virgins amongs us but that will be sorted over the race weekend :P Title: Re:Who, when, where. Post by: BigH on April 27, 2005, 08:31:56 pm Our base team left the Oort Cloud in a converted washing machine just after the Battle of Hastings, their catastrophic plan involves hitting terminal velocity somewhere near the Kuiper Belt during the French Renaissance. I understand they picked up a couple of proto-fans near the Cassinni Division.
We haven't heard from them for a while, but they're hoping to get there before us. Unless Julius freaks out and discovers God and hope. Uncle Albert (78 and a quarter) leaves on a mopping up mission the Sunday before the race. Christ knows what he's taking in his van this year but I've noticed he's been spending a lot of time in the shed (from which comes many strange and startled noises) and the local wildlife seems to have gone very quite around these parts. I leave on Tuesday morning with a sense of foreboding and a couple of mates. We're headed for the fickle mistress that is Maison Blanche and I expect to use more petrol than would fit in the Liverpool Boys swimming pool, although this year I intend to avoid scratching the paintwork outside of the Heineken Bar. Portsmouth to Cherbourg for us. Title: Re:Who, when, where. Post by: Robspot on May 04, 2005, 05:26:53 pm Me and two travelling companions are going Poole to Cherbourg on wednesday overnight (no cabin due to complete idiot booking the ferry - oh, that was me :-[ ) and coming back same route (but in the opposite direction before any smart arse comments).
We shall be voyaging in what can only be described as a rented transit because that's what it is. As we are only taking bbq, two fridges, gazebo, 3 tents, smallish genny, tables, chairs, sofas, beds, saunas etc. there should be quite a bit of room left if anyone needs something taking down. If you can get to Bournemouth before the wednesday you are welcome to borrow some space. Title: Re:Who, when, where. Post by: monkey on May 11, 2005, 02:22:55 pm Can at last confirm that team Monkey will be leaving Oxford 16th for the over night St Malo, will eat up some nosh and drink some wine and make our way very slowly to Arnage, having spent the night on the coast. :) Will arrive 12ish. This is my 18th visit, brothers 17th and the 3rd visit for the young monkies. we do have the burdon of the her in doors monkey keeping an eye on us on the journeys, :'( but of course her invitation does not extend to the race itself. 8) Can't bloody wait!! Funny thought I would have grown out of it by now, but this time of year start looking over all the old video adventures from years gone bye. See you all over there.

Itinerary stars with : 08:00 Dover departure on Thurs, followed by a spirited drive through the French Countryside to Le Mans in time for tea, hoping that no-one has a mechanical falure, which if it did happen would be the first time in 5 years! Our collection of vehicles include a brace of Wesfields, Caterhams, Morgan,Porsche Boxsters,a little Audi, and not forgetting the Recovery Vehicle & Inflatable Pool transporter ! It would be nice if those kind souls arriving on maybe Monday or Tuesday could have a wander around and tidy up the place for us, especially the bit about a hundred yards around the bogs. you know the sort of thing pick up the old stale fag ends, dead fireworks from last year and aren't there always old beer bottle tops to dispose of? I really hate getting those things stuck under my toes inside my sandals, quite offputting isn't it?
Thanking you all in anticipation... Err did I mention I was going to Le Mans? ;D bill Title: Re:Who, when, where. Post by: Bob U on June 10, 2005, 10:29:44 am Bill, please try not to mess it up again before I get there. We are a very discerning group of campers and expect nothing less than perfection. We are very quiet and retiring, very clean living and leave no mess when we go home, in fact we have even been known to clear up others rubbish before departure. I would hate our French cousins to form a low opinion of our countrymen.

It's partly a stag trip for one of our number, although we're all over 30, a couple over 50 so it won't be a particularly raucous affair I can assure you. I really have no idea what to expect apart from the obvious, and we're probably going about it all in completely the wrong manner, but if you see us looking dazed and confused early on Saturday morning please stick a few extra rashers of bacon on ;) Title: Re:Who, when, where.
