Robbo

Makro have a special starting today on the 6m x 3m green and white striped ones with all six side panels so you can totally enclose yourself for £40 + VAT. Not sure if they'll still have some but they were doing 9m x 3m in white with 5 side panels (i.e. back and two sides leaving front open) for £50 + VAT.

Let me know if you want either and I'll pick one up for you!!

We are going to get one from Ebay to replace the one blown away by the mistral/chopper incident last year. c£250 for a heavy duty 9x3m version with full sides and 28mm steel tubing.

Toadie, 28mm is only just over an inch. That's the same thickness of the tubing you had last year (and we had)

Mr Toad,
Every millimetre counts, believe me. And 28 is as good a place to start as any. I'd say that would be a good 53 on a balmy June day.
As I understand it, 28mm is about 4lb 3ounces and a groat in proper old English money, so I reckon it'll just be fine.

Robbo,
I bought one of these last year, well worth the price but we  lost the instuctions for it, if you get one would you mind posting them on here so we at least stand a chance of putting it up again this year.

We anchored three gazebos together on Beausejour last year, they still took off about 3pm on the Sunday though.  A group of German Porsche drivers got a little worried at the contraption hurtled towards their cars at Mach 3. :)

By the sounds of the experts, is it worth buying sides for my gazebo I'm taking. It's only a mere 3mx3m special from Wollies and is only 28mm.
I thought that MB site was made of grass, so with big pegs, would it hold? ??? ??? ???

   Any thoughts :-\ :-\ :-\

Adding the sides can act as a large sail! Last year we were in the centre of Maison Blanche and had one hairy moment when a 9m x 3m gazebo got the wind under it and it lifted a few feet off the ground. That said, it hadn't been pegged into the ground properly or any guy ropes attached.

Thats why we're securing three together this year!!  ;D

Hi JPC,
Three together =Bigger Sail. Bigger = Faster & Higher. I always suggest you place a return addres on Gazebo's or atleast a telephone 3 where you can go to collect the pieces.

Ah, yes, but also much heavier. It's also going to be sucured down well, and hopefully positioned behind the bank to aid as a wind block. We've found before with these large ones that as long as you secure them properly they stay on the ground, but can tend to buckle or lean in very high winds. Hence why we're going for the larger style. That and the fact that we have 24 people going and are expecting several visitors over the wekend!!  :)

We bought ours cheap in Carrefour and left it for the Pikies, that is unless of course Paddy can confirm whether or not it is still standing on Houx from his recent recce !!

L.A.D.S. have just bought a Party Tent from B & Q. 3m x 9m with sides - £74.48 - reduced from £99. Not tried it yet. Suspect we won't get it back in the box once if we try it out. Taking six inch nails to peg it down, as our pitch was rock hard last year.

I remember that picture.

Wouldn't it be awful to be part of the clean up crew? All those UNBROKEN bottles to share with the local coppers....
