Title: Ferry Deal Post by: BigH on February 24, 2005, 06:07:41 pm Just had this through. Makes my £350 seem a bit limp and deflated now.
Good to see a bit more competition this year though. H Title: Re:Ferry Deal Post by: Robbo SPS on February 25, 2005, 01:44:42 pm Nice to see Speed Ferries is making an impact.

Title: Re:Ferry Deal Post by: Chris24 on February 26, 2005, 07:12:12 pm Big H ,
Where do you book these deals though, just tried Hoverspeed.co.uk and it came back way more than £35 for the 5 day duration for Le Mans Please let me know asap as I have a friend that may wish to book before the end of Feb Title: Re:Ferry Deal Post by: smokie on February 26, 2005, 07:27:05 pm Did you try www.speedferries.com Chris?
I just booked for this weekend (heading for Frankfurt again tomorrow - daytime temp is about 20 F!) and it was £70 return. I thought that was their price throughout the year. (It used to be £50). Title: Re:Ferry Deal Post by: Simes on February 26, 2005, 07:39:30 pm Wow they look like good prices...

They are like Easyjet, the later you book, the higher the price, if they are getting booked up. You must have picked at least one nearly full ferry. It's still a bargain! Speedferries take small ones. Otherwise Norfolkline. Title: Re:Ferry Deal Post by: Simon (WRC GT4) on February 27, 2005, 12:19:07 am 6M long x 3M high.
Norfolk is a bloody long way from me (unless i'm being stupid and they sail from Dover) Portsmouth is ideal for me, but dover will do if it's better priced. Title: Re:Ferry Deal Post by: Kpy on February 27, 2005, 01:02:39 am 6M long x 3M high. Speedferries limit is 2.90 m x 7.00 m, so seems you're 10 cm out.Norfolk is a bloody long way from me (unless i'm being stupid and they sail from Dover) Portsmouth is ideal for me, but dover will do if it's better priced. Norfolk line http://travel.norfolkline.com/ operates Dover - Dunkerque - not much further than Calais . You can probably get a deal with them for under 200 quid for LM week. As for travelling via Portsmouth cheaply, try Brittany ferries via Caen. Depends on how far you are from Portsmouth or Dover. Have fun - and see you at LM. Title: Re:Ferry Deal Post by: smokie on February 27, 2005, 01:58:26 am I'm going Norfolkline this year, they were much cheaper than the rest - even for the short crossing. £180 for car & caravan. Next cheapest was P&O Dover - Calais at £320 (£210 last year!)

They sail Newhaven -Dieppe and are quite cheap Title: Re:Ferry Deal Post by: Simes on February 27, 2005, 12:22:56 pm You could also try Transmanche ferries. They sail Newhaven -Dieppe and are quite cheap and even though it's run by a family of gypsies it I've travelled 5 or 6 times in the last year and found them perfectly adequate. Rumours of a refit should get rid of the distinctive 70's porno set of a cafeteria! Title: Re:Ferry Deal Post by: Simon (WRC GT4) on February 27, 2005, 01:33:44 pm 6M long x 3M high. http://www.travel-market.co.uk/html_flash/index.html For £6 and you get a discount off regular ferry prices. Saved £40 with Brittany Title: Re:Ferry Deal Post by: Robbo SPS on February 28, 2005, 01:50:10 pm I was told P&O are offering huge discounts on the Le Havre route, but thats their tough sh*t for being bad.
I told them as such and got a lovely reply which was completely full of sh*t. Title: Re:Ferry Deal Post by: DelBoy on February 28, 2005, 09:53:02 pm I was told P&O are offering huge discounts on the Le Havre route, but thats their tough sh**t for being bad. Hardly huge, Robbo. I've just checked again and they are £12 cheaper (on £500)than Brittany for the same day/times, but going to Le Havre instead of Caen. I have gone P&O for many years, but cancelled this year and rebooked with BF. DB |
