Title: Ferry and camping ticket for £120 - bargin!
Post by: Snoring Rhino on January 27, 2005, 12:20:33 pm
Now I don’t have to worry about organising a stag do at LM for my daughters prospective husband (on, off, on, and now finally off! at least I wont be so skint - scary money! (Sorry Gilles, no Strippers needed) we have finally got around to booking our trip, and what a bargain!
SpeedFerries crossing £50.00 - 21.15 Wed crossing, think we will share the drive down rather than hotel so we get there nice and early Thursday.
Camping ticket for MB - £70.00 (includes original PP + reg post to me, so a fair price).
Only slight issue is the return boat at 10.30 Mon morning - probably miss it and have to wait for a no show slot.
So Total = £120 + say £50 in extra fuel (if the Chim materialises by then!)
Compared to last years Travel destinations bill of £550 (Ok the ferry was Ideal - Portsmouth - Le Harve overnight with cabin, and good company with the SPS crew!)
Tally Ho.

We should try define a central CA area / meeting place maybe the first arrivals should try and mark out a spot in the middle and an outer perimeter for pitching around it. Need to ensure who evers first takes a good supply of sticks and some of that nice blue and white tape!
New Thread coming on!

Tried that last year and whilst the results weren't to bad it just doesn't work. At the end of the day you can't stop people pitching up where they want, best bet is to get there early.

Your right there, a group close to us a couple of years ago had some Frenchies turn up lateish friday and pitch their tent half way under their gazebo and in their car spot. An intersting conversation resulted, but short of bodily moving them, what do you do!
The reality would be to keep it reserved for as long as posible.

I guess it's all down to how many people get down there early enough.

Last year Stu kindly saved us a large area but others who got there on the Tuesday and Wednesday basically said well we're here and they aren't so tough. At the end of the day we couldn't expect anyone to keep an eye on it for us as it would detract from their own trip.

This year there wil be about 22 of us in our group, mostly arriving on the Thursday again, but four or five of use are arriving on the Monday and are going to put up all the tents and gazebos so hopefully we should be OK. We can certainly try to save something for you Ian, but if it gets invaded while we are off drinking somewhere then there's not a lot we can do.

You could of course always travel down early??  :D

I am in little doubt that the whole area around the Liverpool Boys will once again be the drop-in zone, wherever on MB (or whichever campsite) you may be.

They're such shy retiring petals and make themseves so hard to find...  ;D

We would be more than pleased to be on of the earlier ones -problem is young Brad's holiday time, infact we should be there very early on Thursday morning so should not have too much of a problem, it was more for the guys getting there through the morning and onwards.
