Title: QC @ Minichamps - larf? I nearly started.... Post by: Mr. Rick on December 02, 2004, 10:25:39 am Imagine my delight as I thumber thru the Diecast Legends (Grand Prix Models by any other name) catalogue that plopped on my doormat in time for Crimbo orders, there within were three things that really caught my attention.
1) 1:18 model of the LM1982 winning Rothmans Porker 956, also available signed by Dinger and Mr. Ickx 2) 1:43 set of the three Rothmans 956s that finished 1st, 2nd and 3rd in 1982 in presentation box 3) 1:18 model of LM 1983 winning Rothamns 956 After I had actually woken up, looked closer ... something was bugging me... So in the same order as above: 1) 1982 winner has 1983 Rothmans logo 2) 1982 3 car set has the "non ciggy ad" Rothmans logo ("RACING") on all three 3) 1983 winner has the 1982 "non ciggy ad" Rothmans logo ("RACING") Now bearing in mind I haven't even got my anorak on yet, there are probably other inaccuracies but these, for starters, are unforgiveable, espesh when you look at the prices! 1) £39.99 (£99.99 signed) 2) £69.99 3) £44.99 Blood and sand, I mean, I know they think we're all mentalists coz everyone loves Ferrari (right?) so given that we are blinded by his Spoonfaces meganess, we won't notice - right? WRONG!! You buffoons @ Minichamps - not often I get excited/annoyed enuff to let them know, but ..... (like they're gonna care!!) Ooh, makes my blood boil! How dare they treat us Lemons enthusiasts with the same (dis)respect as open-wheeled "afficianados"!! ... rant over.... I'll get back in me box...... ;D Title: Re:QC @ Minichamps - larf? I've seen those advertised as well. The 1/18 1983 winner was briefly available over here with the correct Rothmans markings until the tobacco nazi's caught wind of it and the rest of the shippment was impounded. There are aftermarket decal sheets available so you can re-touch them to the correct markings if desired but as you mentioned, for the price they should damn well be accurate. Personally I'm waiting for the Joest Porsche 956-117. John |
