Title: What'll she do mister? Post by: BigH on November 29, 2004, 03:14:07 pm Hello, good evening and welcome,
Wahaaayy! Before I could get settled in and slip the toads out of my concealed pockets, I've got a letter from the FACO demanding money. I suppose this is fair enough, but I wish they'd time things a bit better, there's christmas beer with warm loggerheads to be drunk, gifts to be bought and returned, and certainly a lot of action in the toilet to be got through. They've probably singled me out, it might be worth replying in Aramaic. Attached is a littl'un for the speed freaks here. I came across these after a slight breeze had re-arranged some real estate and their flaps got exposed. The bloke who built them reckons they're good for 400mph plus, they use the ground effect created above water (shouldn't that be water effect?) and 'fly' at 6" above the surface. He didn't seem to think it a drawback that a chop of anything above 6" meant you couldn't fly them, and cheerfully sank a $1M dollars into the project. Maybe 'sank' is the wrong word. He's now pretty keen to sell the design/patent/wife and shirt. Aaahh, isn't optimism wonderful. And Mycil footpowder, obviously. Did I see the words sheep and 14 year old in a post somewhere? I saw a program about those things a while back, the amount of effort to design & build them was amazing, I guess it was its little brother that washed up in H's picture. Funnily enough, this shed was in the shadow of the place where Howard Hughes holed up in the penthouse, growing his fingernails and keeping all his stools in specimen jars. No sign of either, although an old boy was doing a lot of straining on an excercise bike. I had to ask. I only mention HH as I seem to remember he also got involved in some abortive aircraft. It involved goosing, I think. H Title: Re:What'll she do mister? Post by: Steve Pyro on November 29, 2004, 06:05:34 pm It involved goosing, I think. H Something to do with being intimate with trees - Spruce Goosing no less! (http://www.se-technology.com/wig/images/hk1.jpg) Title: Re:What'll she do mister? (http://www.fas.org/man/dod-101/sys/ship/row/rus/project-903-image1.jpg) I saw these on tv too a while back and was convinced they were models ( for a short time !) as I had never seen anything like it. Amazing craft - |
