Title: Anti Virus
Post by: Ruptured Duck Motorsport on November 25, 2004, 09:33:56 pm
We had a customer complaining of a slow PC and wondered if we can fix it - I think we found out what the problem is....!

This is only after 4.5 hours, we gave up watching at this point, and formatted the bugger

I spent hours in the summer trying to stomp a dialler that had nicked my machine. I killed the thing eventually but it took Windows updater out with it when it went...

'pooters, sometimes I just hate 'em...

 :(

Hmmm, and then you get your phone bill and see it's £500  :o

Go broadband Bill, you know it makes sense (must have a damn good firewall etc though)

Steve, more good advice yet again! Just did get Broadband. (mostly so I can keep up with some of the amazing links some of the guys in here put up)

I was lucky that I spotted the dialler running the drive when I wouldn't have expected it and when I checked the ins and outs on my connection icon it was something like 1,000,000 in 300,000,000 out. I thought that looked "odd" for a browsing session and set myself up for a three day trawl through the registry and other popular addresses.

AOK now but it wont let me "do2 Updater yet, might have to do an over the top reinstall, trying it next week. Tiny Personal Firewall and the BT Yahoo! firewalls seem to be coping so far, been broadband for a week now, only a quid per month over my old deal, has to be worth it.

 :) :) :)

in fact if you can, get the whole package from zonealarms rather than mix and match
