Title: 7 C of the E
Post by: jpchenet on October 20, 2004, 09:35:26 am
My friends kids get a quiz sent home every term along the lines of a half finished sentence. Things like:
7 D of the W  =  7 Days of the Week
26 L of the A = 26 Letters of the Alphabet

Well, there's one that we are stuck on.

7 C of the E

So far we've guessed at:

7 Components of the Eye.
7 Coins of the Euro

Neither is particularly convincing. So, anyone out there got any better ideas. If nothing else I sure Big H will come up with something that will win us a prize for the most bizarre answer  ;D

TIA!!

Cheers Rich. We had bene debating this last night and decided that as the quiz was created over here most people pn;y recognised 6 continents but further digging just now on the 'net has shown that 7 are now referred to (I'm sure that in my day it was "The Americas" rather than North and South)

Or if he tries to rule out any more GP's it could be the "7 Cancellations of the Ecclestone"

To put my tuppence worth into the pot here as someone who was at a British school some time in the last ten years. There is now officially 7 continents.

Europe
Asia
Africa
South America
North America
Oceania (or Australasia)
Antartica

Now I'm doing  my PhD I will have been in further education for 8 years.

8 years of the student life has begun to take its toll. Spare Kidney anyone.

Jay (23 year old permanent student)

From this side of the Channel we learn that there's 7 continents

Europe, North America, South America, Asia, Africa, Australasia and Antartiqua.

IMO, there's a eight continent...
... United Kingdom !  :P

The thing with the continents sounds pretty plausible. However, it may also be "The 7 crates of Erdinger" although it's not my favorite choice of beer..

North and South America are on seperate tectonic plates. I never remember them being classed as one continent at school. I know there were lots of education budget cuts in the late seventies but that's economising on a ridiculous scale.

Ask anyone who live in Los Angeles or the San Andreas Fault area how many continents there are - there's rumbles that officially it's now seven. Something to do with plate tectonics.

The sad thing about this type of school quiz is that invariably the teacher has piked it off a website somewhere - so typing the first question into google (worded exactly as in the quiz) gives you all the answers. Lazy - I know, but then the teacher should have used some of that vast allowance of holiday to compile something original. And that's not to mention Offsted preparation days...? Offsted? Once a year? What's the problem - most of us in regular jobs get 'offstedded' every single day of the year! And work till at least 5.30pm...

While I'm here can anyone beat the sad record of being a member of Club-Arnage since the early days -1997 or 98 i think (remember the old forum?) - yet only having 50 odd posts to my name!? :-X
