I hear the Belgians brew a good pint so have one for me. ;D Canada Phil Title: Re:Last call for Spa Post by: hgb on September 08, 2004, 08:12:35 am would you take a photo of David Pipers Ford entry #32. Title: Re:Last call for Spa Post by: hgb on September 20, 2004, 10:03:29 am And his 917...
Title: Re:Last call for Spa Post by: Andy Zarse on September 20, 2004, 03:52:02 pm HGB, sorry to nit pick, but I think that 917 is an ex-Martini car and now belongs to a bloke call Juan Barazi. Piper's 917 is plain green and I think its a short tail version too. BTW, anyone got any info on the Ford's history? I know less than nothing about it.
Piper really seems to be into that strange Ford at the moment. I saw him drive it at Silverstone last month and at Goodwood too. He even spoke to me as I waited by the paddock entrance before the start of his race; he slapped me on the back, smiled and said Excuse me old chap! On reflection, I'm certain it was just that he wanted to touch my CA teeshirt! Title: Re:Last call for Spa Post by: Andy Zarse on September 20, 2004, 03:55:42 pm Although, looking at your photo for a second time, it does seem to say David Piper Racing on the side. :-[
Now I'm really confused! Don't tell me the lucky bastard's got two 917's!! ??? Title: Re:Last call for Spa Post by: hgb on September 20, 2004, 04:03:15 pm Yes Andy, I know the green one. That one was at the Ring. The no 31 was driven and is maybe owned by Barazi, not sure about that. As you can see it has "David Piper" written on the side. Maybe they take care of the car and Barazi is the owner/driver.
Title: Re:Last call for Spa Post by: Andy Zarse on September 20, 2004, 04:23:56 pm Yeah, that makes sense!
Title: Re:Last call for Spa Post by: Paddy_NL on September 20, 2004, 04:30:27 pm Here my view on the pitlane-fire, from Eau Rouge ;)
Title: Re:Last call for Spa Post by: hgb on September 20, 2004, 05:00:28 pm Paddy, we must have been rather close next to each other. Did you spot the 4 or 5 TVR shirts next to you ?
When Kaffer went through the pitlane with the car fully a balze he put himself off many people's christmas list. That was not a very clever idea to doodle down the pit lane on three wheels and burning when there are other cars in the pits, probably some of them refuelling at that time. :o Forgot a thing: Another thumbs down for the shot Tiv. Title: Re:Last call for Spa Post by: Paddy_NL on September 20, 2004, 05:28:18 pm hgb, were you standing there with an English flag?
I had my Drinking for Holland-shirt on, but the weather wasn't really apropriat, so it was covered with a jacket most of the time >:( Here's another shot of the car, poor quality because of extended zoom :-\ Title: Re:Last call for Spa Post by: hgb on September 20, 2004, 05:44:23 pm hgb, were you standing there with an English flag? I had my Drinking for Holland-shirt on, but the weather wasn't really apropriat, so it was covered with a jacket most of the time >:( No flag but now that you mention the "drinking" shirt... yes I remember spotting you (and having a smile). You were standing next to us. On your small picture you can see the Audi passing the blue pit stand of Rollcentre Racing. They refuelled the Dallara moments before the Audi went past and just wheeled the fuel barrel back into the garage... scary stuff. Title: Re:Last call for Spa Post by: Paddy_NL on September 20, 2004, 06:07:18 pm I didn't see the refulling in the pitlane as I was taking pictures of the Busstop at the time (that same Audi colliding with a TVR). It was my first outing with my new camera, so I got distracted enough.
As for the shirt, yes, bigger plans for next year. Counting on a 20+ crowd, big scaffolding on Karting Nord ;D Title: Re:Last call for Spa Post by: Paddy_NL on September 21, 2004, 12:46:32 am I didn't see the refulling in the pitlane as I was taking pictures of the Busstop at the time (that same Audi colliding with a TVR). Just to clear things, I was zooming in from Eau Rouge :-\ Title: Re:Last call for Spa Post by: Canada Phil on September 21, 2004, 04:58:29 am Hi HGB,
Thanks for that pic. Like Andy Z I do not not know or remember the Ford so any info would be interesting. Powermite, Loved your story about driving the 'Ring. Canada Phil Title: Re:Last call for Spa Post by: hgb on September 21, 2004, 08:19:07 am The barbecued R8 from where I was standing... he just arrived at the last pit. ::)
Title: Re:Last call for Spa Post by: hgb on September 21, 2004, 08:20:25 am I think that's Johnny Herbert at the front looking at the mess.
Title: Re:Last call for Spa Post by: hgb on September 21, 2004, 08:22:02 am And what you were concentrating on, Paddy... the shot Tiv. :'(
Title: Re:Last call for Spa Post by: Paddy_NL on September 21, 2004, 09:34:25 am TVR on tow-away :(
Title: Re:Last call for Spa Post by: Paddy_NL on September 21, 2004, 09:37:30 am And that other car, huge smash >:(
