Title: Buying tyres in france
Post by: Ron Jeremy on August 07, 2004, 03:56:41 pm
going to france for holiday and tyres require replacing

internet site in gb suggests a cost of £225 each for replacing the tyres all in

internet site in france suggests a cost of £97 each for the same brand/size (fitting/balance/valve ??)

have sourced Speedy and Euromaster as outlets are there any other tyre outlets particularly in the quimper/brest area ?

I appreciate that retail they won't be £97 but they do appear considerably cheaper than here.

I did same, once, on a visit to parents (who lived in Switzerland at the time). I stopped en route and had all four tyres on my Camaro replaced and saved about 400 quid.
I recently sent 4 Goodyear Eagle F1 EMT's over to England for a friend, who runs a (dare I say it) C5 - and even including shipping (UPS) and duty, saved 150 pounds per corner.
I've also just re-booted my car with Eagle F1 GS D3's - which are absolutely fantastic tyres, at a cost of $950 (about 425 quid). I believe they cost 375 pounds each in England!
Send me your orders!!!

OK - what car are they going on? Would you accept an alternative to Dunlop (which isn't a particularly popular brand here in US)?

SP Sport 9000 225/45/17 ZR ........$169.00
SP Sport 9090                   YR ........$148.00
SP Sport 2000E                 WR........$135.00
               8080E                 ZR.........$133.00
               FM901                 WR........$100.00

UPS surface shipping is around $80.00 for 4 tyres (3 weeks) UPS Air service is $140.00 (4 days)

Hi all !

How could tyres be more expensive in England than in France ???  :o  ;D

I know a very good website selling tyres online :

http://www.mytyres.co.uk/

This is the UK part of a European website selling tyres at very low price... I've already ordered Bridgestone SO2 and SO3 for my 911, the price for 4 tyres is almost 250 euros less than in any tyre shop in France...

Hope you'll find what you need !  :)

Yes, I've used MyTyres for Pirellis for the cob.  Very efficient and an extremely competetive price.

The tyres were with me within a week.
