He flies from LHR to Lyon then is picked up and taken to the hotel. In the morning he has breakfast with the riders. Then is collect by one of the team cars and spends the day following the riders. Then is taken back to the hotel and has dinner with officials and is flown home in the morning. LUCKY BUGGER. Title: Re:This weekend.... Post by: Andy Zarse on July 08, 2004, 05:51:29 pm To those who are going, hope you enjoy the mudfest, traffic jams and overpriced boring horseshit.
And I hope the predicted bad weather doesn't spoil the driver's hairstyles. Title: Re:This weekend.... Post by: bird on July 08, 2004, 05:53:15 pm well yar boo sucks - my gusset's gonna be drowning all weekend...

i was mainly being patronised by car sales men/women still better than being bored by F1 Title: Re:This weekend.... Post by: bird on July 13, 2004, 09:24:05 am So let's disagree on agreeing....
:P I had a wicked weekend, so neeeeeeeeeerrrr ;D Title: Re:This weekend.... Post by: Andy Zarse on July 13, 2004, 12:15:28 pm So let's disagree on agreeing.... :P I had a wicked weekend, so neeeeeeeeeerrrr ;D Glad you had a top time Bird. Having said that, the British GP proved to me conclusively what is wrong with current F1 cars. GRRR! After the Trulli accident, out comes the safety car, with all F1 cars bunched up behind. The whole picture of the race is rewritten; the drivers are all fired up, adrenalin flowing. Pit stops have been made, new tyres on and cars topped up on fuel. So we're all set for a fantastically exiting 15 lap sprint race to glory, on one of the finest Grand Prix curcuits in the world! The tension mounts, the safety car pulls in and it's GO GO GO! And then what happens. I'll tell you what. Absolutely nothing. Nil! Nada! Zilch-o! Not one single overtaking manouver for the first six cars. As soon as they get too close to the man infront, they are aerodynamically compromised to the extent that overtaking is impossible. The word anti climax springs to mind and personally I don't watch sport to be disappointed in the product. GRRR! Everyone goes on about the overtaking further down the grid. To my mind, this is a complete red herring. Firstly, so bloody what if someone moves from 12th place to 11th? I really couldn't give a fu ck. Big deal. Secondly, the reason this happened anyway is becuase the cars at the back are nowhere near as good as, say, the top eight cars. And the drivers are less experienced and talented than the top men. Thus more mistakes happen and it is this that allows the overtaking manouver. Very little of it is empiracally because of a flash of genius. GRRR! Get rid of traction control and launch control, reduce the downforce, reduce the grip and let the racers race. Then I'll start watching again. GRRR! Title: Re:This weekend.... Post by: Ron Jeremy on July 13, 2004, 01:33:44 pm very true artist or is it the ?? or formally?
??? anyway very true the only moment of any interest was the crash - just that carnal instinct takes over and you just have to see, like rubber necking you just can't help it Title: Re:This weekend.... Post by: stuey on July 13, 2004, 01:54:44 pm Quote Get rid of traction control and launch control, reduce the downforce, reduce the grip and let the racers race. Then I'll start watching again. Lose the refuelling stops too. Schumacher makes no attempt to overtake because he knows that he doesn't need too. Wait till the guy in front pits then put in the fast laps. Easy for Schumacher, but about as interesting as watching paint dry! Title: Re:This weekend.... Post by: Andy Zarse on July 13, 2004, 02:41:34 pm Good point Stuey, though you have to admire the mans' speed round a track.
Title: Re:This weekend.... Post by: bird on July 13, 2004, 06:08:51 pm I have one word for you lot that I believe makes it all worthwhile:
neeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeow! ;D Procession or not the noise still whoops the backside off any other car Ever. Title: Re:This weekend.... Post by: Fax on July 13, 2004, 06:11:06 pm F1...hehe. The ultimate cure for insomnia. Would rather be sleeping than get up early on a Sunday to watch that pile of pretentious crap. Moto GP is where its at these days. Give me Rossi, Biaggi and Gibs in a bare knuckled, no holds barred slug-fest any time. Its what F1 used to be.
Jesus I hope the pygmy never really gets his greedy little rat claws on it. John Title: Re:This weekend.... Post by: stuey on July 13, 2004, 06:14:53 pm Quote neeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeow! never did like cats ;D Title: Re:This weekend.... Post by: bird on July 13, 2004, 06:22:22 pm me neither - they chase birds :P
Title: Re:This weekend.... Post by: Mr. Rick on July 13, 2004, 07:53:49 pm Procession or not the noise still whoops the backside off any other car Ever. Personally I prefer the noise my Campagnolo freewheel makes when I stop pedalling!! ;D Title: Re:This weekend.... Post by: rcutler on July 14, 2004, 09:41:12 am The ping that occurred after my headset bolt snapped at 25Mph made horrible sound (would have been nice if I had not have known the consiquences). Campag Record Headset adjuster bolt in the Top of the Steerer tube snapped and shot up in the air. I was just lucky I was sat up and not on the drops.

Now on the subject of things cycling (oops, have I hijacked yet another thread???) - the most vexxing of conundrums - to shave or not to shave??? ;D Title: Re:This weekend.... Post by: rcutler on July 14, 2004, 04:31:52 pm I do not shave legs. Being only 23 it would make me look quier when out for the night and the only reason to do so is:-
Cyclists only shave their legs so they are easier to clean after you fall off. (hairs are very good at retaining dirt). My tip is don't shave you legs but equally don't fall off. ;D Title: Re:This weekend.... Post by: Mr. Rick on July 14, 2004, 05:52:56 pm Wahaay! Tres impressif Monsieur Cutler!!
Was only joshing, this came up in convo on a training ride with some (girl) cycling friends yesterday. Being massive cycling fans, they find men with shaved legs sexy apparently! Now to return this thread to its rightful owner, any thoughts Bird??? Title: Re:This weekend.... Post by: Mr. Rick on July 14, 2004, 05:54:00 pm Also as an addendum, shaved ones make post race massaging less painful too I'm led to believe.
