Mark 2004 Lemons Gang Title: Re:Weather from the horses mouth Post by: rcutler on June 07, 2004, 02:43:08 pm We should stop the doom and gloom I have brought up each day and the day with the highest chance of rain is SUNDAY but even Sunday has only got a 50% chance of rain.
Thursday the day with the Thunderstorms still only has a 40% chance of Rain. Also a bit of rain on most sites can be a blessing otherwise the campsite is just a dusty mess. See you all there without the waterproofs???????? Title: Re:Weather from the horses mouth Post by: pretzel on June 07, 2004, 02:52:55 pm If I had a quid for every time Meteo France forecast thunderstorms over LM during the 11 years I have attended then I'd have 11 quid. If memory serves me right we've only ever actually had 2 thunderstorms.
One on the Saturday night in 2001 and one a couple of years earlier on the Monday following the race as we were travelling home. Not a particularly good strike rate (if you'll pardon the pun) as far as the forecast is concerned. I'm sure all will be ok. Mind you as I am in an hotel I'm not too worried about my tent geting washed away ;) Title: Re:Weather from the horses mouth Post by: Buzzter on June 07, 2004, 02:56:16 pm At least I wont have to stand under a hose pipe for a shower. :o You cant beat a bit of alfresco crevise cleaning. Bring on the rain 8)
Title: Re:Weather from the horses mouth Post by: Nobby Diesel on June 07, 2004, 05:08:21 pm just spoke to my sister in law, who is track side with Veloqx; she said the weather forecast that the teams are working to is for "low chance of thunderstorm late Wednesday/early hours Thursday".
Current situation is, to quote her words "way into the 30's, hotter than last year". Thong and flip flops for me then. Title: Re:Weather from the horses mouth Post by: gibberish on June 07, 2004, 05:18:12 pm Cheers Nobby. A good prospect indeed. ;D
Title: Re:Weather from the horses mouth Post by: Dan Lowe on June 07, 2004, 05:21:07 pm Current situation is, to quote her words "way into the 30's, hotter than last year". :o Good stuff!! 8) Title: Re:Weather from the horses mouth Post by: rcutler on June 07, 2004, 05:21:46 pm just spoke to my sister in law, who is track side with Veloqx; Just a note Nobby it is never a good idea to state that you know someone FEMALE trackside you and her will get hassled all week by certain members here!! ;D Title: Re:Weather from the horses mouth Post by: Dan Lowe on June 07, 2004, 05:27:37 pm just spoke to my sister in law, who is track side with Veloqx; Just a note Nobby it is never a good idea to state that you know someone FEMALE trackside you and her will get hassled all week by certain members here!! ;D The hassling begins..... Title: Re:Weather from the horses mouth Post by: TonyT on June 07, 2004, 06:31:47 pm If memory serves me right we've only ever actually had 2 thunderstorms. One on the Saturday night in 2001 and one a couple of years earlier on the Monday following the race as we were travelling home. I remember the one in 2001. Certainly the mud on Sunday morning. The worst storm for me though was in 98 on the Saturday afternoon / early evening. We ended up with 6 inches of water in the tent. The bogs (hole in the ground) started to back lush. The tents below the bogs soon moved when the nice brown floaters started inching there way down the hill. They say it comes every 3 years ............. but who cares, its Le Man weekend. Role on tomorrow night........................................ Title: Re:Weather from the horses mouth Post by: Nobby Diesel on June 08, 2004, 09:45:45 am Yes, I agree. we always work on the assumption of 2 dry years followed by a wet year. However, as this will be my first year driving down in a car as opposed to biking, I think the pattern has already been broken.
Here's hoping. Title: Re:Weather from the horses mouth Post by: hgb on June 09, 2004, 08:50:17 am Are there any more accurate weather info available. I still don't know what to pack. Will I need the big plastic bin bag or not.
Title: Re:Weather from the horses mouth Post by: gibberish on June 09, 2004, 09:05:34 am Same as last year............ as we get closer, the forcasts start to moderate. Weather.com is now showing slightly reduced temperatures - 25's, with far less risk of rain or thunderstorm.
Title: Re:Weather from the horses mouth Post by: smokie on June 15, 2004, 12:39:48 am I spent the rainy afternoon (Thursday? I can't remember!) in the pool which was warm by comparison...just as wet though
Title: Re:Weather from the horses mouth Post by: TonyT on June 15, 2004, 06:36:58 pm So much for the forecast again. I'm glad I took all that wet weather stuff.......
