Title: Mulsanne at night without driving
Post by: jpchenet on May 19, 2003, 06:59:24 pm
Can anyone help us out on a way to get to the restaurant on the Mulsanne straight without driving???

Having a driver that's not over the limit for Saturday night will be near impossible but we really want to get there this year. We've had on guy volounteer but woth 13 of us he'll be shuttling backwards and forwards all night!!

Maps I've seen seem to show small roads or tracks across the centre of the circuit. Are these crossable or closed of by the Gendarmerie.

Thanks in advance.

The restaraunt is outside the circuit isn't it? Kinda dangerous road to cross, even if the tracks are findable. (I remember Rusty saying last year that they are 1) patrolled and 2) unfindable in the dark)

yes Smokie the restaurant is outside the track...

... thanks to the map you make me buy, I'll be able to find the way to have access to.

By the way, the best way during the race is to be a competitor and park your LMP900 along the security rail just the time you eat.

It's not to bad to find. Probably easiest if i draw directions on a map and e-mail it to you.
The view from the straight is fairly restricted now, but at night you can still clamber up to the hedges and have a looksie.
Staying near there so if your up for a beer...

Did someone mention beer!!??!!

If you could send us a map that would be great.

Does someone gather a list of everyone's mobile numbers for distribution for June to arrange a meet up or does everyone just swap numbers individually??

TIA

I gather numbers, camping and travel plans etc. But I decided not to include phones as I'm hoping that Chris will publish the document on these pages, and I felt that was a bit public.

Usually swapped individually, or you end up with hundreds of them.
Send you map as soon as i clamber into loft and retrieve everything from where i chucked it last year!

JPC, I've got your map with the itinerary from the "Chemin aux Boeufs" to the restaurant. I draw the way by car, but as you'll have the map, you'll be able to find the shortest way by bike or foot.

Where can I mail you this map?

Gilles

Gilles - if it's a jpg or gif under 100k you can attach it to a post I think.

Been there quite a few times .It's best if you try finding it in daylight first.Exit on Chemin de Boeuf, under the bridge ,join the main road via the slip road(looking left) continue for about 2 km toun right and follow the logical route or the track with the most tyre marks.I think you may need your general admission ticket with you to get into the carpark! But not sure on that.Rex L.

Gilles - the problem with attaching files to posts has been fixed.

Try attaching the map to a post here, it will save you a lot of emailing.
